This kit is now my 'gigging' set but I wanted to record with it once before leaving it in LA for The Faceless. The Sessions are great drums, both live and in the studio.
We'll be going back out in September with Between the Buried and Me, The Contortionist, & The Safety Fire. Should be a fun time! I hope to see some of you out there.

"Almost definitely".... Sorry friend, but you're pretty off here. The only thing triggered in this video is the kick drum, and the trigger is mixed substantially lower than the natural kick mic. So even that is almost very natural.

0:51 is just the most ridiculous display of technique, a right-handed one-footed blast with the left foot, hitting accents with the right hand and opening the hats with the right foot to match. Those kind of dynamics are hard enough with your dominant limbs, FFS Alex
Yeah. That was sick. You got it right. I tried that 0:51 in a very and slowest motion I could but I found it very hard to do. It was like playing with an endless twist..

I think his approach has much to do with endurance for blasting. By having it ambidextrously, he can switch up and spread out the load, so to speak. I also really like how it spreads the sound from the left to right in the mix.

I've seen the both versions: Lyle's and his. I love both. Lyle has some custom parts, seems, since the videos I've seen were before they released the album. Lovely song.
My band played with them/him a couple months ago, completely humbled in their presence! It's my goal to be a Meinl artist one day, all my favorite drummers are!

Not quite: there are lots of different blast beat variations. The traditional blast is a single stroke roll with the hands and your bass drum plays at the same time as whatever cymbal you're hitting. Playing the kick, snare and cymbal in unison is a hammer blast.
