Alex Rudinger - The Faceless - "An Autopsy"

- I've gotten a lot of requests to do some earlier Faceless material, so here's my play-through of 'An Autopsy' from Akeldama. One of my favorites to play live.
The drum kit that I'm using here belongs to my good friend Alex Markidies. My new Tama kit is still being built so he was kind enough to let me borrow his to record a few videos. Sounds and looks beautiful - it's an early model B/B. Sizes 8", 10", 12", 14", 22". The snare is one of mine, 14" by 6" Starphonic Brass. Might be my favorite snare I've recorded with!
Big thanks also goes to Adam 'Nolly' Getgood who did the mixing for this video. He was able to bring out some characteristics that I'm not used to hearing from recording in my basement. Couldn't be happier, sounds great! Alex & Nolly: Two incredibly sick guys!

This video was all done in one take. I used 4 different HD Camera's. I've gotten a lot of questions about what kind of Cameras I use, so for anyone who is interested here you go -
Canon HF11 - front left angle
Canon T3i - front right angle, camera belongs to good buddy Anup
Canon HV30 - back right angle
Sony HDR XR500V - back left angle

For this video I used an array of - mostly - Byzance & MB20 cymbals, Clear Emperors on toms, Coated Controlled Sound on snare, and Clear PS3 on Kick.

I think it's both, Nolly is a WIZARD. Plus I'm a Tama user myself, so I'm a little biased.
Not talking shit but you know he has 3 moongels on the snare right? You can tune the snare horrible and 3 moongels would make it sound phenomenal
apatheticautopsy Glad you're liking the drum sounds. I can assure you all that Alex tunes his kit, including snare, extremely well. Moongel is necessary when playing at these speeds to keep articulation especially during the blast beats - without any muffling the ringiness would get out of control.

Man I said it and I'll say it again, his best most extreme covers are Faceless songs and the ones I enjoy the most. No wonder Xenochrist is the one that has more views out of all his videos!

Always the best covers...Darn I miss The Faceless so much. Michael pliss, I recovered from Opiate addiction after 20 years shooting up. It will be a hell of a waste if you go out without getting the help you need and come out with another Faceless album
That's pure speed on chain drives - no triggers, swivel technique, longboards rebound, etc. - just straight up getting after it :)

Holy shit, Alex, as someone who still thinks Akeldama is one of the best albums he's ever heard, I cant tell you how awesome it is to see you do this. Can you do more play throughs of older Faceless songs? I'd lose my shit over a Leica play through.

Holy shit! The snare sound changes everything
wow you can really hear how early born of osiris was influenced a lot by the faceless in this song (I don't listen to the faceless at all and although I've heard other people/critics make this conclusion, right now is the first I've actually heard it myself).

I like how this sounds like nothing was eq'd or anything. The sounds are good but it's raw, and it shows just how precise you still are in just one take. Phenomenal.

It also has to do with using triggers. That way, you can play very lightly and fast, while still producing loud kick sounds.
Caleb Molenda triggers doesn't make it easier to play drums at all. You hear mistakes more actually. I heard none here, so he must really be precise.
