    Nice set up. I have the same grinder brand new and a Time more Chestnut C2 .. I grind my coffee and use a AeroPress when Im camping. Heat my water lost of different was. But nice to see you have a very nice grinder. Around Bend Oregon out on 2 wheels. I ride a 2018 KTM 690R . Exploring and a Triumph 675 Street triple R road ripping. Enjoy and be safe. Enjoying your videos 🎉

      that is also a good grinder from what I hear. There is not that much to choose from here in Norway when it comes to good grinders, so you kinda have a limited choice. Unless you buy from outside of Norway. I heat water in different ways myself, but on motorcycle trips it is mostly on my kettle in the Trangia. Nice of you to comment and have a great day mate. Cheers ☕️

    Nice and compact. I have a couple of small hand grinders like that from 2 other companies, but I use a a couple of different size portable stainless French presses instead of a drip method. For Jeep camping I bring the 34oz press, for Moto it’s the smaller unit (forgot size, it’s either 12 or 16oz). And for stove it’s currently my MSR dragonfly with a small pot (takes up more space than your set up I think). That stove looks handy though.

    • @tshansen
      @tshansen  8 месяцев назад

      I never got the hang of the French press or other versions. So I just kept this pour over/v60 setup. There is so many great ways to drink a good cup of coffee. No matter what equipment you use, make sure it gives you that little moment of dreams every morning. I don't use a gasoline stove without truly needing it. I have a MSR XGK that I intended using on winter trips (skiing) but I never got around doing that much anymore. So it sit's in my shelf waiting for that long dessert adventure, or something similar 🤩 Insane sound on that thing tho 🙈

    Nice setup, Thomas, Good idea to show that for us coffee freaks. We used instant coffee last year camping on ACT Pyrenees, but it's not as tasty as "real" fresh coffee. This year on ACT Romania we didn't camp, so fresh coffee every morning. And small luggagge on the Transalp 600. Have a great weekend, Günter/Nürnberg

    • @tshansen
      @tshansen  8 месяцев назад +1

      I have had my share of instant coffee and half poor variants of coffee, and when you get the taste for good coffee, it is really hard to go back. I rather take a cup of tea, than drink a poor cup of coffee. I'm afraid that I have become a little snob in this regard 😂 Fresh coffee every morning is how every day of the rest of my life should be 🙏 Cheers Günter

    Haha, alright, I know coffee can be a very personal matter...but a grinder while on a bike...? I'm not going there. Trangia is not a common brand or use over here (North America) most riders have never heard of it, I bought one because I fall into the Nordic Adventure dude trap every time...truth is it's my favourite stove now, I even use flint rod starter, very authentic, and a topic of discussion to anyone who sees it. It is a bit bulky compared to modern gas setups but adds to the fun factor. Cheers Thomas!

    • @tshansen
      @tshansen  8 месяцев назад +1

      Hahaha, like is just to short to drink poor coffee me friend 😂☕️ It quite surprising to hear that this brand is not popular world wide, because it is truly one of the most compact and genius "do it all" set out there. Fire rod brings you back to the beginning of time, absolutely love that my self. I use that in my alcohol stove that follows these setups. you can get a pocket torch or what it's called, those top mounted on a gas canister, or you have those ridiculous jet boils but they are quite dangerous to use in some of the conditions up here. Not many people know the huge Carbon monoxide problem with the jet boil stoves, and should be really careful when used inside a tent etc. But this is a topic I could talk about for ages 😂 Have a great day mate. Cheers 🤌🏻

  • @jamesprecious1035

    Thomas, you brew an interesting ratio of water to coffee. I use 30grams to 500ML of water for a light to medium roast which seems to be the chosen ratio of most pour over coffee geeks. I also see that on top of the GSI basket you are adding a paper filter! What brand of paper filter are you using? I find the GSI basket to brew a nice cup on it's own but I think I'll try the addition of the paper filter and see what it does to the taste. Always love your content. Cheers from rainy Vancouver.

    • @tshansen
      @tshansen  8 месяцев назад

      Yes, I said wrong in the video, that's why I put on the text overlay. 30g of coffee on about 0.4 to 0.5L of coffee, not 1 point 4 😂 Yes, I use a paper filter as well, or else the water goes trough the coffee to fast and it is a pain in the ass to clean out if you don't have running water near by you. The paper filter I use is just the normal ones you can buy in the store here in Norway. That goes into the moccamasters etc. Cheers mate 👏🏻 ☕️

    • @jamesprecious1035

    Quite similar to my setup 😛 except I bring 3 different ones 😅
    But I’m curious… you said your grinder holds 30g and gives you 1.5 liters? You must grind really fine then, no?
    Normally the recommended ratio is 6g per dl. So 30g for 500g of water. I’d be really curious to taste your brew and measure your extraction 😅
    And let me guess… you prefer Friele? 😂
