It truly is, this is made with the famous Lars Fält as a survival axe, But for me it just works great as a daily driver. The tomahawk style of the axe makes it really nice to use, swing and chop down trees and make firewood. I think we have long traditions with making multi purpose clothing. We needed gear that could last and be used in various condition for generations. 👏🏻

Happy New Year Thomas. This will definitely be the year of the gear😎. I remember a trip I had some year back with a rider from UK i met. We ride over some mountain's together ends of August and it was freezing cold, he turned on his his chicken vest as I called it🥴. I do hope he not read this, because my heated jacked is on its way to my door, together with heated insoles🤣👍. We have all swollen a camel or 2 in our lifetime🙄. If this is what i takes to be able to stretch the mc season in both end, I'm shure its a good investment. Hopefully no more need for a half hour in a hot shower after a ride anymore.

I also agree with your picks, except I’d have to give a slight nod to my Grayl water filter over the knife. Oh, and I’m also on the 790R. Now if I could only make videos as well as you do. Excellent and always well done. Ride on.

Great mind thinks alike 👏🏻 I had a look at the Kriega 9T but it was just to small for my iPad and gimbal. So I had to size up. But it is still small when you don't fill it up, so there is just no problems with it being a little bit larger. Avade shirt, need to google that. I see that there is many great brands on the market. Here in Norway, it is safe to drink water from about every source you can find, so there is no need for filters. I'm kinda glad for that to be honest. Haha, 790R and.... brothers in gear 👏🏻 Glad you liked it. Cheers mate 🎉

    Hi Thomas,
I have a Petzl as well incl. a red light, rechargeable which I bought for my Iceland adventure in summer 2020, even knowing of the long lasting daylight hours. Now in winter I use it much more often and it's very intuitive to operate.
My Trangia set is 20 years old, maybe more, but I didn't used it so much due to other fuel burners in my 4x4. Now with the T7 it's back in use.
My Fiskars X7-XS is a newcomer from 2021.
So far I have never considered a heated jacket 🤔 and last winter I was happy with my Merino wool base layer and the Adventure Spec layering system.
Let's see what the riding season 2022 has to offer.
Thanks for the inspiration and greetings from 🥶 🇩🇪, Bernd 💙💛🏁🤛🏼

    • @tshansen
      @tshansen  2 года назад

Hello SkyBlue 👏🏻 I have used Petzl at work for many years, and I have to say. They make really great gear. But I never expect a cheap and small headlamp like this would be so great and one gear I use almost every day. (in winter) I'm using the Trangia for all mye hiking and family trips as well, but I don't own a motorhome (yet) I'm looking into getting a camper van, or a 4x4 with roof tent or something similar. The Fiskars does also make incredible axes to a affordable price. I have the X-7 and X-5. The only problem is that the steel is really soft, so you need to sharpen it all the time.
Don't get me wrong... layering is not a bad option. I use this in winter when I'm hiking and skiing. But to eliminate so many layers of gear with just one jacket is a no brainer. And it makes for so much better comfort when riding. It is gear you just need to try to belive how good it is. I'm really bad at changing layers when it's getting cold or warm. stopping the bike, take of a layer, pack it down and ride again. nope... press a button and yes! 🤣
You are welcome brother... have a great week, and let's hope this winter is short. Cheers

So far I've managed quite well by using my cross skiing gear underneath - works good. But I can definitely see the use of a heated shirt, especially when in camp a chilly afternoon or in the morning cold. But what I really want for cold rides are those heataed insoles that Bjørn mentioned, at least when it comes to long stretches of pure transport at low temperatures. And as a swede I really should get myself a new Trangia set, as my old stuff just isn't good enough anymore...

    Hi Thomas,
First of all, I wish you a happy new year.
I could not agree more about this headlamp. I've got it with a spare battery for almost nothing last year, and i'm using it all the time.
About my picks of best gear i've had to use this year i would say :
    - Someone gifted me a pair of sport merinos wool socks. I never thought i would like these that much. I wear them all the time. I've had merinos wool socks in the past, but they were not durable at all like these are.
    - A real pair of high quality hikking boots from Lowa. Not really motorcycle related, but i brought them with me on my last trip, as it's a pain to walk more than 10 meters with my motorcycle boots. Love them.
    - A rev it airborne shirt. Extremely confortable aswell. Especially in hot weather.
    - My helinox chair. Fun story, someone called me in the middle of my september road trip. I was not expecting that call, and was riding in the middle of nowhere. A few minutes later i'm seated on the side of a mountain road and answering a job interview.
On the other hand, i've had to try a new air matress, the StS Comfort plus insulated. It's a warm matress, but fuck it's seriously loud. I think i prefer my self inflating one, that is cheaper.
    Take care !

    • @tshansen

      Happy new year mate 👏🏻
Yeah the headlamp is such a surprise for me... I really enjoy that little thing and it has really served me well.
I use wool and merino wool as a base layer on all my trips. I have tried some socks, but they never seam to last... would you care to share the name of them you use?
Hiking boots I have tried to bring in the past, I have not found anyone that packs small and are comfortable (in Norwegian conditions) It's always wet here, even if the weather is nice. So I always take my huge hiking boots on travels with mountain trips or hiking trips.
The Helinox Chair is AMAZING... I use it all the time my self. I actually got my hands on a new chair these days that I will be testing out. Have to compare it to my Helinox chair and see if it can replace that. Cool story. did you got the job 😆
Thank you for this comment... really appreciate it. Stay safe and take care.

Heated jacket was one of my best investment in terms of motorcycling gear! It definitely saved my life in Norway and later on! A question... you didn;t include your hammock in the list...?

Haha, you had some bad weather when you were here 🙈 And glad to hear about your experience with heated gear as well 👏🏻 Well, the hammock is the best bed I own, and since I am a brand ambassador I felt like it could come out like a paid recommendation. I have plans for a own hammock video when the weather is a little bit nicer 😆

Suggestion -noticed that you have very nice looking MoskoMoto bags (like me though I have the Backcountry 35L ones) but that you have not yet done a review on them. Unless of course I missed something somewhere. Anyway, if you haven't maybe nice to do one. And then maybe show where you pack the items you bring and why you pack them where you do.

Thank you Inge... Well, I started a video about this last season. I wanted to compare the mosko to the enduristan bags I have, and how I pack etc. But I found out this will be so close to what I plan for my packing for the north cape trip, so I put it on hold to this season. there I will show how I pack and arrange my set up on the bike🔥

Agree with all on your list Thomas (especially the heated jacket👍🏻), but the Axe would get you locked up in the UK, seriously, you legally cannot carry fixed blade knifes let alone axes.when I travel to Norway, can I borrow your axe please 😄.
