- Can’t sleep, eh?
Please, join us where the maples paint the ground, and to a special place, that I call Maple Haven.
It’s fall now, and the last hummingbird has left. The forest is in transition, from the tallest cedar to the smallest fairyfly, and we’re right in the middle of it.
So please, sit back, relax, and enjoy yourself, as I whip up some apple cinnamon tea, and a couple pumpkin pudgy pies!
Apple Cinnamon Tea ☕️
Ingredients:
- 4 cups of water
- 2 apples, sliced thinly (I used Gala)
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 1 claw of ginger, sliced up
- Grade A tree juice
Directions:
- Wash the apples and slice them thinly. Keep the skin for added flavor
- Slice up your ginger claw. I chunked mine, but you can also thinly slice it to maximize the flavor
- Bring your water to a boil
- Add the sliced apples, ginger, cinnamon sticks, and a healthy pour of grade A tree juice to the boiling water
- Let simmer for an hour, allowing the flavors a chance to get to know each other
- Pour through strainer or an old (but clean) mesh towel
- Served best with apple slices and grade A tree juice, to taste.
Pumpkin Pudgy Pie 🎃
Ingredients:
- 1 can Pumpkin Filling
- Marshmallow Fluff
- Cinnamon
- Butter (cooking spray or oil is fine)
- Bread Slices (I used whole wheat)
Directions:
- Preheat your pie iron over a campfire or a stovetop
- Lightly butter the insides of the pie iron to prevent the pudgy pie from sticking
- Place your pumpkin filling on one side and a dollop of marshmallow fluff on top
- Season with cinnamon
- Close your pie iron and place it over your fire or stovetop. Cook each side for about 3-5 minutes, but every fire is different so make are to check it occasionally for burning
- Cook until golden brown and remove it from the heat

I've been there many a time
Though a wise older trucker on Reddit put it very eloquently once to me, he was talking about being in his 50s and not finding his "thing" (trucking) until his really late 40s. He also said that even now he still has a lot of life ahead and plenty of time to find new things and to grow and change as a person, there is absolutely no reason that I at 27 should have my life all figured out if he in his 50s is still learning and growing.
Honestly, it made me feel SO much better. Like, yes life is frustrating and sometimes it takes longer than we want to do or be what/who we want, but there is no reason we should have it all figured out right now (IF it's even possible to have it figured out) just take it a day at a time and take each day 1 step at a time, eventually youve walked along the path ❤

This guy looks just like my dad did in old pictures from well before I was born. My dad is a mid-60 year old, maple syrup making canadian who loves the outdoors and living a quiet life. I feel like this video just grabbed my childhood by the heart and gave it a thick blanket to warm up in.

Man this fills me with a joy I haven't felt in a long time, like visiting a good friend and relaxing together amidst all of life's troubles and worries. It feels like a safe, cozy little corner away from all the bad out there. Love you man
It's hard to put into words what this does for me, but I'll try. I'm confident this isn't unique to me here, but as someone with autism, all of your work just puts me in such a good place. The sensory aspect of it is beautifully predictable, no loud noises or big surprises to shock the senses, nothing jarring. The tone is consistent from start to finish, in terms of the lighting, the colours and the sounds. I can watch and enjoy anytime, but especially in moments where I'm feeling overstimulated, this really brings me back to earth. And your genuine love for all of this really comes through, the production makes me feel that you love that process too, it certainly feels like it! Thank you 🙂

my mother is an alcoholic , she is loud when she comes home from the bar which is every other night , sometimes more . She stays up until 6AM the next morning , sometimes longer even , average is somewhere around 6 . She stays up talking to herself in the living room , yelling out to the walls , swearing , talking angry and all sorts of nonsense while also playing loud music and singing out loud as if its some sort of concert from hell going on every week that never ends. I like watching these late at night into the wee hours as this has kept me from ever getting a grip on a sleep schedule , and , i already have a severe sleep condition as it is without her nightmare going . Well buddy , thanks for the calm videos , i often see you out there and i wish i was there with you in peace , just me , God and his creation , i would bring my small dogs with me and have campfires each night , I dont care for the party or the ways of this world anymore , its a nightmare , thanks for sharing your peaceful existence with us and i hope you know the LORD Jesus , he is the only one who has stopped me from killing myself .......love you buddy , all of you , even if you hate me.

I’ve been watching your content for a few years now and it’s honestly helped me through a lot of sleepless and difficult nights. You can see the passion for your craft in this well made video and I think it’s so brilliant because it’s something so unique and often lost in today’s internet algorithms killing our attention span. This video doesn’t force the viewer to be patient and meditative, it doesn’t need to draw the viewer in and keep us here like so much content today. It’s so endearing and manages to strike such a chord of human emotion and experience which all viewers can relate to. Thank you Hawkey.
