It’s great to see the wide range of domestic BA services (and those of other airlines too). Much as I love rail travel too, getting from SE England to Scotland and Ireland is a long journey for someone like me who gets very tired very quickly. I’m not sure I’d bother with business for domestic flights, although having middle seat vacant does make it feel less crowded.
So nice to see someone giving a good review of BA. As retired BA staff it is upsetting that most people are critical of the airline; it seems to be a national pastime to do so. I was proud to work for them and am still proud of our flag carrier. Thank you.
Nice gentle video. I used to travel v regularly each month on this route, inc as a family of four. There are a lot of negative comments about BA but when a low cost carrier has problems the bigger BA makes the difference. Frankly some carriers carry less fuel than needed for any unexpected emergency - Im serious! If anything goes wrong it matters and delays can be huge. Booking ahead can produce some excellent fares. The fares quoted here for BA on this route are 'cheap' for a top tier carrier.
Great video, nice to see a comparison between classes and not just see one side of things on a flight review like you usually find on other channels. Looking forward to seeing more of these types of videos, keep up the good work!
Enjoyable video, many thanks. I flew in and out of Inverness a few times in the 1990s to visit friends in Elgin. On my first visit the terminal was older and much smaller - I seem to remember my bag was put straight on to a trolley behind the check in desk. The newer terminal was a great improvement, and the number destinations served by Dalcross has gradually increased which is great - I love to see smaller airports getting more and more flights - I’m very much of the view that, like rail travel, if you provide the services, people will use them. As to Heathrow; well, I loathe and detest the place. Much prefer flying out of London City, even though it can get crowded in the terminal at peak times.
Great review Dom. Glad you were able to compare both cabins on the same day. Yes some still grumble about short-haul catering etc but in truth there are only a very few national European airlines who still offer a full complimentary meal service in Y.
BA’s business lounges are OK at best. Alcohol selection isn’t the best and the food is fine. The seating is always a nightmare. Incredibly busy. At Heathrow, BA let Club World, Club Europe and Executive Club Silver in three lounges. Makes it so hard to get a seat. Nice video by the way.
I always fly ba domestic Aberdeen to Heathrow business purely for lounge access and my accumulated points means I always get my flights for around economy prices. Love ba both domestic and international
I love them but haven’t flown with them since the ‘90s due to price and lack of direct flights for overseas routes I’m interested in. Domestic, we’ve used Flybe (back in the day), Loganair, EasyJet and RyanAir instead.
I think most are getting lounge access with certain cards and premium bank accounts. I have such a card, but I'd rather sit in a Wetherspoon with a real ale. The one at Stansted is fab!
BA has popped up in my route options a few times as I mainly fly with oneworld, but their short-haul offering is usually just much more expensive for less service really. Unless if you live near one of BA's hubs I don't see a real reason to keep flying with them 😅 I've got to say that lounge is a sad sight, a lot of passengers scrambling for a place kind of takes away the principle of a "business lounge" honestly. Figured I'd mention your videos and edits are getting much better with each upload! Love to see them pop up in the subscription box, keep it up!
I think the only reason to fly domestically with BA is if the specific route they offer is one that suits you. That means LHR or LCY. They operate to LGW too but they have competition from EasyJet there and you tend to find the fares are a bit cheaper as a result. The LHR and LGW services are basically there for the connecting flights though, even though there is bizarrely no airside connection at LGW. I find BA ok on the whole, not great but not bad either. The economy class service, a small bottle of water and a small biscuit, is an embarrassment though. They would be better not bothering.
Thanks, I found out afterwards to mention in the video, but it was a last minute surprise and sadly I was caught with my pants down 😂 It’s a fabulous looking aircraft though.
Another great video!! I think the economy service is good however it should be cheaper in my opinion as sometimes the price for economy can be over 100 pounds one way
Very good video and some great footage from the skies. For a 1 hour flight Club Europe is quite a lot more expensive for lounge access and some food on the flight. Club Europe becomes more appealing for 3 hour flights. Was anyone next to you in Economy? If not, it's the same seating/space as business.
I can imagine that would so but sadly I only had one day to film this & I feel like the domestic service is something that everyone who flys BA will use at one time or another. There was someone sitting next to me but where possible I try to keep people out of the video.
One thing BA can do is advertise which terminal building flights are leaving. Therefore, people on flights leaving from a B or C gate can use the BA lounge in the B gates
That’s a good shout! Would especially help people like myself that was on a longer lay over, though I’m not sure the practicality of it on the airport/airline side.
Does UK like France consider the Overseas territories as domestic? Bermuda, Montserrat or such?😜 Interesting video! I do fly IAGs group often through Vueling, the (LCC) European A320/737 Economy experience seems rather similar across the board. Depending on how, the LCCs have become rather expensive that Legacies are an interesting option again
The UK 🇬🇧 doesn’t consider such territories as domestic and each have their own boarders under their control, otherwise I do think some of those flight would definitely be a good shout. It is an interesting time in European aviation with a mix of budget airlines having to raise prices due to external pressures and flag legacy carriers having to find a way to offer value for money.
cool video, was just wondering how easy getting to inverness airport from aberdeen is? I have a flight back in a couple of months and the price to inverness was too good to miss out on
Having flown with both BA and EasyJet from Inverness to London. Frankly I think they overpriced, actually found EasyJet to be more comfortable as well as considerably cheaper. On a side note or have you been in the Inverness Aspire Lounge? Often wandered what that was like, though must be tiny
Regular on this run. No expensive fees from Inverness airport. …. Lovely small lounge too. CE product not great catering if aircraft has night stopped or afternoon tea.. much better lunch time or evening..
Good point. INV is APD exempt much to the annoyance of ABZ. The APD saving is great for those travellers transitting London for long-haul destinations and who have booked one of the premium classes.
I actually prefer easyJet over BA. Coming from someone who flew BA for years I think easyJet is better and the crew can certainly be friendlier. Sad to see the demise of BA in certain ways
So basically £80 for some food and drink in the lounge and again on the plane, an hour later? Perhaps if you have hold baggage (included with business), it's a better deal. Only good thing about BA (speaking as a highlander) is when there's a good price on a two-leg route with checked through baggage, which is sometimes far cheaper than any EasyJet/Ryanair combo. Everything else is so pathetic in economy, it's embarrassing for a national carrier. Feel sorry for the cabin crew.
Although BA is seen by some as a national carrier it is not. It is simply a commercial company whose business is plying the skies alongside numerous others.
I thought it was a fantastic service and the meal very decent , price wise I thought it was also good value and I’d be happy to pay that . Thanks again for the exceptional content 👍
I know your working to a video timescale, But I did not like the times 2or 3 playback speed, & the “harassing type” music which accompanied it, too much speed to get your opinion over., it spoiled what was otherwise a good report.
BA is overpriced and has delusions of grandeur that are based on the service they offered a long time ago.. not any more. Apart from routes there is no alternative, there is very little reason to choose a legacy carrier like BA over the likes of the budget operators.
I very much agree. I was crew for BA based at Heathrow for 6 years and have moved to easyJet and now based at Gatwick. In terms of short haul, I generally see no major difference. Except the humour of ezy crew. Flying with BA is just for namesake
Your review was great, as always. UK and European carriers' business class seats are a bit of a joke in my opinion. They're just economy seats. Here in Australia, they're completely different seats. Generally not lie-flat, but wider and with more leg room. Admittedly here, once business class is full, it's full. There's no moving the curtain to suit demand.
What are your thoughts on British Airways Domestic services within the UK?
It’s great to see the wide range of domestic BA services (and those of other airlines too). Thanks dom i recently done aberdeen london visa versa all good thanks for covering thos route
Great review Dom. Glad you were able to compare both cabins on the same day. Yes some still grumble about short-haul catering etc but in truth there are only a very few national European airlines who still offer a full complimentary meal service in Y.
Great videos! Never had an issue with BA domestic. Flying from ABZ is ace as quick security. Good fares if you book early too.
My guess is that as the travel season builds there is going to be a lot of comment and discontent about crowded lounges.
It's 'Better World' livery. You got it right in the lounge, but wrong when you said One World. lol Anyhow, excellent vid again Dom. 👍👍

Great vlog Dom. It seems to me everyone pays for lounge access these days, defeating the whole idea of peace and quiet and exclusivity.
It does seem it’s way more popular these days
I think most are getting lounge access with certain cards and premium bank accounts. I have such a card, but I'd rather sit in a Wetherspoon with a real ale. The one at Stansted is fab!

For domestic I find easy jet hard to beat cheap and comfortable enough for short trips great vid as always
Brilliant video!! Does British Airways operate any domestic routes to Gatwick or is it only to Heathrow now?
Hope all is well, take care
Interesting comparison between economy and business class. Another great video, Dom and I did laugh at your “pet coffee” 😂
Damn, the editing on this video is top notch! Well done!!
Thank you I’m glad you think so. 😁

The livery is the BA Better World livery

Better World - Virtue signalling nonsense
I love your vlogs but prefer real time takeoffs and landings. Great timing on the takeoff - dinner - landing :)

I believe they do that. Domestic flights almost always leave from main t5

1 h 40 min, it’s pretty much the same time as Norwegian flights from my hometown of Bergen to Gatwick.
Its A Very Long Time Since I Fly British Airways.Great Video And Info
I actually prefer easyJet over BA. Coming from someone who flew BA for years I think easyJet is better and the crew can certainly be friendlier. Sad to see the demise of BA in certain ways
At 5.23 muinets it looked like a British airways concord can someone explain please
No pre take off drink in Business?
Think the plane is call blue bird for that livery
it is called a "lounge"! personally I give them a miss far too busy and noisy and not worth it
Im first for once!! Nice video dom.
Yes you are! 😄 Thanks, I’m glad you liked it.
Yay

It's only worth it with a companion voucher/using points, not worth paying for it otherwise!

I travel to the UK frequently but absolutely avoid BA. Had some bad experiences and have no desire to be treated like that. No thanks BA.
