Thanks for the review. I have a Lariat on order. The suspension sag is probably due to the engineer's efforts to give it a soft ride, and they need some travel to work with. I don't look forward to all of the jack cranking with the 4 horse gooseneck, but maybe a power jack in in the future. I talked to a Ford engineer, and he begged me to get the 3.31 gears, regardless of how much weight I tow. The ten speed is a complete game changer. First through 7th gear has the same ratio as the last gen trucks with a 4.30 diff.
Thanks for watching! Congratulations on the truck. I agree on the suspension sag being due to needing extra travel to soften up the suspension. It’s amazing how good it rides for a one ton. I can believe the 3:31s will pull just as well as the last gen trucks. The ten speed is awesome. It always keeps you in the power! Enjoy the new ride and thanks for the comment.
@@Metal_Stacking nothing to worry about. Mine is a 3:55 and it’s great. I think that with the 10 speed you can get away with higher gearing, like the 3:31, and still be able to tow just as well.
@@BuildYourOwnAdventure yeah they match tow spec wise I just assumed it would like 10th better with the 3.55. I guess 3.31 could get better fuel economy without load.
@@BuildYourOwnAdventure I would look into SuperSprings vs the airbags. I put them on my 2008 F350 as I did not want to deal with bursting airbags (a rare problem nowadays) or the plumbing routing, wiring etc. They are purely mechanical and easy to install. Good luck either way.
Thanks for the comment! I looked at purchasing SuperSprings and many other suspension helpers, but I ran air bags on my last truck and really liked them. I was a little worried that if I kept purchasing mechanical levelers I would always regret not having air bags. I recently installed the Air Lift 5000 Ultimate bags and controller and I have to say that I love the adjustability and ride they give me while towing.
I haven’t gotten an official weight yet but I plan to in the near future. The unloaded weight is a around 7600 pounds. I think with the upgrades we’ve done we’re in the 10,000 range. Pin weight for a gooseneck is normally 20% off the total weight, so I’d say we’re around 2000 lbs. I’ll post a video showing the weight once I get a few other upgrades completed. Thanks for watching!
what is the tongue weight on the trailer? I am ordering a new truck and need about 3 inches of squat to level out my fifth wheel other wise I'm nose high. I ordered an F250 to make sure I get the squat but if an F350 squats the same I might as well get the F350. You squatted 3 inches but how much weight did it take to get that much squat??
I’m not completely sure but I believe it’s around 2500 lbs. I’ve also hooked my parents 26’ travel trailer up without the weight distributing hitch and it squats the same amount. I can’t imagine it has a tongue weight over a thousand pounds. The springs that you ride on unloaded are pretty soft, so it doesn’t take a lot of load for the truck to sit down on the overload springs.
I believe it is meant to assist when towing or loaded up heavily, but I've used it several times when unloaded. Mainly just to hear the turbo spoil up when I slow down, but I do believe it could help your brake pads last longer.
What rear end ratio do you have? The choices are 331s and 355s. That will mean a difference of 7 percent with the RPM's. I cant imagine much of a fuel difference. Maybe 1/2 MPG. But the question is ... If pulling a 14K trailer, should I consider the 355's? Anythoughts?
Our truck has the 3:55s. I can’t imagine there’s a huge difference in the two ratios, especially with the ten speed transmission. Ours pulls great but I would bet it would be hard to tell the difference between the two.
If I were going to buy a dually, I'd go with the F450 to get the wider front axle and tighter turning radius. That has been an option on the F350 in the past and may still be. The turning radius on my truck would be one of my only complaints, but I knew what I was getting in to when I bought the long bed.
I don’t have an official weight on the trailer yet. (That’s a video I plan to make in the near future) I have always figured that it’s close to 3000lb of tongue weight. That’s using 20% of the gross GVRW of the trailer. The truck has just over 4500 lb of payload and we’ve never gotten close to having the trailer at capacity, so once we add the weight of passengers and other items, we should be well within our limits.
We didn’t see the need for it. We never had an issue with stability in our last truck and this truck is built much heavier than that. Payload on this one is over 4500lb so we should be good to go with anything we plan to haul or tow. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Yes, I was disappointed with how much it squat. One thing to remember though is that the back of the truck sits up three inches higher than the front. Once you squat three inches and your on the overload springs, it can hold much more weight without squatting. I also wouldn’t write it off because of the crazy amount of power and torque of the power stroke. Thanks for watching!

Wait 3.31 over the 3.55? Please help me understand as mine is on order with the 3.55 locker.

@@Metal_Stacking I agree. I assume the same though because I’ve only towed with the 3:55. You won’t be disappointed. It’s a beast!
Pretty clean,,most I hauled in my 2009 6.4 f-250 was 34,000lbs,,it drove nice
Nice! That was one heck of a load! Thanks for watching!
@@BuildYourOwnAdventure of course,,,I’m probably going to haul about 18,000lbs pretty soon,,,I’m a 6.4 guy but I really enjoyed this video lol
I just purchased my 22 F350 diesel 4x4 xl I haven’t pulled a trailer with mine yet but overall impressed with it so far
You’re going to love it. It’s a great truck!
They don't install stiffer springs because the truck is limited with SRW. Trailer looks heavy. I always run F-rated tires as well.
Thanks for the comment.
Nice video, what's the gear ratio?
Thanks! It’s a 3:55.
Nice video!
Thanks!
How much weight capacity for towing with a gooseneck or fithwheel???
Our truck is rated at 21,000 pounds when towing a gooseneck.
Do you think you will add airbags to it? Great content!
Yes. I do plan to add airbags in the future.

What did the trailer weigh? Approximate pin weight? I’m playing the waiting game on mine being built. Thanks for the video.

Is the exhaust brake only used in tow haul mode?
