Don't buy Artis Opus brushes. I have them and they kinda suck. Get windsor & Newton or Raphael etc. Artis Opus brushes are mediocre at best and not worth the price.
Glad I never did buy them. What I'm about to say sounds pretentious and superficial, but I feel with a name like "Artis Opus" they are trying a little hard haha. If it doesn't have a name tied to its reputation then it's probably not worth the same premium of other "premium" brushes.
I'm not sure if this counts, but there are times when i find myself trying to paint like every single little detail and it some times caues more problems for me than anything.
I love how many Coheed fans there seem to be in this hobby. I’ve gotten way more comments about it on this channel than on my 80k+ sub channel over the years lol.
I talked a lot of shit about craft paint until every hobby store in my town closed down. even adjusting to citadel garbage from testors model masters was a HUGE disappointment, especially because those now closed stores didn't carry anything else but citadel shit. So when those stores closed all I had was craft paint. The trick isnt to use water. You want to use liquitex flowaid. It keeps paint together and doesnt separate it like water does. you can even airbrush craft paint with it if you thin it down more than milk consistency.
I would love to add something about this stop comparing and just focus on improving. I build car models. I used to suck at it. I decided to figure out how to do better, and this is how I do it. I add one new skill I don't know to each build. Some examples in my world: One build I tried to do custom paint work, then I tried to add engine wiring, my next skill was to add 3D printed parts. And my current new skill I am trying to learn is scratch building a few parts. The point is I get better and better with each model.
I think you should compare yourself to other paintors. Only Comparing and contrasting with yourself it's not going to help all that much. Yeah you absolutely should keep track off your own personal growth, but you need to start comparisons with better paintors, and take that as a challenge to achieve what they achieved. What you need to do is contextualize what you're looking at, understand the context in witch that mini was painted. Don't look at other paintors and whine and whinge that they have more experience or whatever, and be inspired to put in the hours and learn. Unless you have no interest in actually getting better, if you're satisfied with what you can do then ok don't push yourself. But if you want to be good you need the drive.
Definitely, comparison should be within a constructive mindset. Understanding which level you want to achieve and how much time you have each week provides some very important context to the comparison.
My Man needs some Coheed and Cambria minis stat....
That’s what I’m sayin!

I love the idea of painting a miniature with a specific improvement in mind. Had not thought of that.
I'm definitely not watching this instead of working of my Bayard's Revenge. I mean pfff who would do that

Much love for having the new Dante and painting him
I appreciate the coheed and cambria representation.
