I just made actual rust to use as a pigment. Steel salt vinegar and hydrogen peroxide. Keep it wet but not submerged for 24 hours. Pour into a tall container decant liquid over 2 days. Add baking soda to neutralize the vinegar. Wahla rust pigment. Use neat or add a bit of matte medium.
