Here's a tip I got from Sorastro put a bit of flow improver and water on a well and use that to thin your thicker paints, like Kimera, scale 75, metalics etc. it's a game changer.

100% recommended the fidget popper pallets. A good majority of paints pop out with no issues.

Instead of wasting money on a glue accelerator use IPA. a little drop of IPA and then super glue your piece, instant bond. Works amazing on resin prints.

Baking soda is great for accelerating superglue, not nearly as clean looking but is is very strong. If you are building terrain its quite good

Also it adds actual structure as well, so perfect when your parts are not perfectly flat.

all useful items. As an added comment: buy your basic painter's tools, sprue cutters, files, sanding sticks, hobby knife etc at your local hardware store instead of a gaming or hobby store. better quality, and way cheaper. Mechanics picks, they look like dental picks, are also great to have and cheap at Princess Auto or the local equivalent.

I use some version of all of these things. They really do matter.

One product I would recommend over the tac putty normally used to fix minis to handles: go buy a 25 ft roll of grey butyl roofing putty tape. Works so much better and I’ve been using the same 25 ft roll for two yrs now

Regarding CA Activator -- be careful when spraying on top of PLA / Painted surfaces. It can affect the colors.

I use the masterson wet pallette pads, they work so well, you just need to hang dry them so no mold accumulates.
Then over that i use acrylic masterson wet pallette paper OR baking parchment paper. You can get a rol of parchment paper for cheap.

Overall, solid list. You may have convinced me to try some glaze medium, and I continue to be intrigued by the fidget popper for speedpaints & metallics. I'm a little dumbfounded how you wore out a squeeze bottle, I've been running two for H2O & IPA over a year now and they still feel practically brand new.
I'm not sold on the wash well, though. I've seen it a few times now and it just feels like extra work to me. So quick & easy to dump and refill a cup, and those wells don't look like they hold enough to significantly reduce trips to a sink. If it helps you clean your brushes more often though, more power to you.

Totally fair. I wouldn’t have bought one if I didn’t get it with the kickstarter bundle. But since I have one it’s worked for me. Let me know what you think of the glaze medium. It’s good stuff.

Have you tried dampening one side of the parts with water and the other with super glue? Works with my gorilla glue version.

Great list. I'd like to think I'm between a beginner and intermediate mini painter. For the life of me, I cant seem to get glaze medium to work. I've watched over a dozen videos. No clue what I'm doing wrong. 🙃

The cellulose rags are really good as a wet pallete sponge, i use two sheets stacked on top of each other cut to the size of a shallow tupperware box
just keep in mind that they expand when wet so cut it to size while its already wet

They are nail polish racks from Amazon. I think they are linked in my gear list in the description but Amazon sells lots of similar shelves.

is lahmian medium a glaze medium?

    • @CrashCourseHobbies
      @CrashCourseHobbies  5 месяцев назад

I think it’s officially a contrast medium but I bet you could use it as a glaze medium. It would have different properties than water. I need to try that out and see!
