I can help, I know what 4H is. I've been in 4H for 11 years now. 4H is a non-profit youth program, for people between the ages 6 - 21, that's focused around leadership and agriculture. It's in over 50 countries apparently. Though it's different depending on where you're from. In my experience it has a lot to do with leadership opportunities, public speaking, record keeping, and learning. You have at least one project, which is usually something about agriculture. Like market steers (beef cows) for example and you learn how to care for them and you show them in competition. Not all projects are livestock or animal, which is a common misconception. It is a really good program to get involved in.
I really feel for OP. I have a similar situation where my partner is the freakin best person in his family hands down by miles but by the insane metrics his mother tried shoving on him he had zero clue. He still doesn’t totally get it but he’s way better than he used to be. it’s given us some problems in our relationship in the past but worked through it.

y'all... i was 13 and turning 14 in freshman year of high school. 7th grade is ages 11-13, depending on the area. i would rule that second story NAH, dude and op just wanted to enjoy the dance and didn't know the friend ditched for a reason, and the friend was just a heartbroken kid. i think it's worth noting, even if the dude and the friend spent the week together, that doesn't mean he liked her all that much. kids are awkward at that age. in middle school, i definitely got followed around by people i thought were deeply obnoxious but didn't want to hurt their feelings and tell them to piss off lol.

There's a lot to be said about beauty being in the eye of the beholder. Like you can look at a piece of art, and agree it is beautiful. I metmy best friend at camp, I was a bridesmaid at his wedding 5/6 years later and over a decade later him and his wife were on the respective sides for my wedding.
Just my take:
It sounds like SiL probably looks like every Insta chick out there, which is, imo, plain and basic, whereas Wifey has character. Some people simply aren't attracted to the popular beauty standard.
SiL, always being "the pretty one" couldn't handle the idea that anyone found Wifey more attractive or attractive at all, so would do her best to prove her beauty by making passes at Wifey's boyfriends. It probably worked 99% of the time because guys can be like that when an attractive chick comes on to them, thereby proving to both women that SiL is the pretty one allowing SiL to sleep with a smile and making Wifey feel like absolute shyt.
*I have a sister like this. I used her as a litmus for boyfriend screenings. If they took her bait, I didn't want anything to do with them. Aside from the obvious, I wouldn't want anyone who would have someone like her. She's had every std known to man that was curable and a few that aren't.
And, no, she wasn't doing it to help get rid of nasty boyfriends. She was just a nasty person.
I totally understand the woman. I definitely have issues with my looks compared to my sister. Both my mother and sister have stolen past relationships. My husband always makes me feel beautiful and has shut them down and says they are disgusting.

y'all... i was 13 and turning 14 in freshman year of high school. 7th grade is ages 11-13, depending on the area. i would rule that second story NAH, dude and op just wanted to enjoy the dance and didn't know the friend ditched for a reason, and the friend was just a heartbroken kid.
i think it's worth noting, even if the dude and the friend spent the week together, that doesn't mean he liked her all that much. kids are awkward at that age. in middle school, i definitely got followed around by people i thought were deeply obnoxious but didn't want to hurt their feelings and tell them to piss off lol.
