    • @raylivengood8040
      @raylivengood8040 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@user-it3el4qf1z max speed is 28mph or 45km/h down hill. 22-24mph on flat until battery gets below 90%, then it maintains closer to 22mph for another 50-60% I’d guesstimate. A larger Ah capacity battery would extend duration of top speed and too would a 52V battery. The controller has no problem with 52V battery. I believe the capacitors are rated at 60V. I have used my Bicycle Motor Works Pocket Rocket 52V Molicel with the controller. That said, the 52V needs to be mounted externally because of the dimensions. I’d also like to mention that the 400W motor works pretty hard and can get hot under a lot of load. So if you weigh a lot (200lbs) or full throttle up a long hill, these type of load conditions exact a toll. The motor is pretty good for RPM, but just keep in mind that it’s running at its maximum ability. I use a electric leaf air blower to cool down the motor after a long ride that includes a hill back to my house. Cool running motor/controller & battery, equals longevity !

    Meaning, the only option to make the bike go faster is to Buy a new controller and replace the OEM/ Jetson pro one. Which I did and Yes the bike goes faster now. But the thing though is it’s highly suggest to buy a new battery that’s 48v

And then on top of that, some of the wires on the same connectors are put in a different order, so even if they connected, the wiring wouldn't be correct. Thanks.

    • @ChrisBuissonDIY
      @ChrisBuissonDIY  Год назад +1

      Yeah! So you can use any size 36v battery, since that's the same voltage as the factory one. You'll want to use a "dual discharge balancer" which plugs into both batteries and uses a little energy from both combined to power your Jetson. This way, they should always be balanced, and when you're done riding, both batteries will need to be separately charged. There's a couple videos on installing a dual battery setup on ebikes here on RUclips. Hope that helps!

    So... If I got this straight, I can increase my speed just by upgrading to a 48V battery..? I have a Jetson Bolt (not Pro), no pedals, just foot pegs. It only goes 11 MPH on a flat level surface, likely due to my size and the accessories I've added to the bike. I'd Love to go faster, even up to 15 MPH. Can I just upgrade to a 48V battery to get the increased speed.?

    • @ChrisBuissonDIY
      @ChrisBuissonDIY  Год назад

      On the Bolt (or Bolt Up model) those use a more simple controller, and it cannot be modified to go faster than 11mph. I'd recommend getting a new controller and battery (like the one in the description), and that will allow you to go as fast as a modified Bolt Pro, since they have the same motor. Wiring it up is exactly the same, and I have a separate video for that on this channel. Hope that makes sense. Good luck!

      Yes, it has more torque/acceleration with the new 48volt battery! The 16amp controller doesn't make a huge difference on battery life at all, it might flow more amps while accelerating but only for brief periods.

      Yes if you purchase it with a matching connector for your controller. I prefer to use XT60 connectors, so I soldered those on to both my controller and batteries. Makes it easy to take a battery from one bike and try it on another if you're building a lot of ebikes like me :)

  • @b20eg195

    If your like me over 220lbs this mod is useless and only good for top speed or after u get going at the end. Due to weight it will whine and accelerate same until u get up to speed. Only way to do it right is if you go with a 750w to 1000w motor hub and a 48v to 52v plus anything bigger is pointless unless already on a bigger bike. But some people still do it and weight ranging 120 to 185lbs has seen up to 30 mph with a 500w motor upgrade without pedaling.
    I have done this mod and the fastest I have seen is 17mph due to my weight, but with a 48v battery top speed I have seen max of 22mph so for people who is say 120-185lbs u could possibly see up to 25mph on flat ground with 100% full charge on 48v. But what will give it away is the acceleration for light weight person u will take off 2 to 3 mph faster after 3 to 5 secs vs a 200+lbs person....I have 4 of these bikes and have tried a lot of different mods to 2 of them.
    Currently I see no more than 14 mph because I now tow a trailer with my toddler which carries 75lbs in total and I have soften the tires for more traction.

      More volts, more speed! You can find controllers for up to 72v, and either a 72v battery or a step-up DC converter. But at that point I think it's worth getting a bigger bike if you want to go faster than 25mph, just my opinion 😉 hope that helps!

    I've been riding this bike for about a month ruclips.net/user/postUgkxwC0IIeIomGQVeBWg-kKJaToZkLEFIA2W and a half now and I think it's fantastic. It helps me get to work on time every day since I'm able to fit it inside of public transportation rush hour. The price is great too, people are always shocked when they ask me how much I paid for the fold up and I tell them "200". It's easy to fold and installation when it ships is insanely easy. All you have to install when the bike arrives is one foot pedal, everything else is done for you. I do recommend you carry some sort of wrench to tighten any loose screws on the handle bar and seat whenever they get a little bit loose. Other than that I think it's a fantastic bike. Easily fits in the home, can fit inside a car trunk and can even fit in subway rush hour.
