      Hi! that 67% increase in capacity, what means in terms of durability of the battery in one charge? I mean, at what mile range could last that battery? Will be more than 2o miles running distance?

      if you're old like me, you dont have to mod it, it's quite an adventurous bike and takes some time to tame before you go that route. The younger gen is more accustomed to this stuff, but with the speed hack, I dont really want to go much faster, I cant take a fall very well I imagine.

      It's a great starter e-bike. I bought it because it's one of the few that can handle a taller heavier rider.
      I'm just outside the weight limit of most of the less expensive bikes. Im considering a few mod options like getting a dual battery connector so I'd have even greater range(need it to compensate for weight drawing on the battery). Eventually I plan on getting something with a Bosh cargo motor, but they're pricey.

    Used A123 LifePO4 cells, 14s for 46 nominal and 49 full. Only need a 10a BMS because 46 x 10 is obviously way more than a 250w motor. The results? Less CAPACITY. Half of the stock, which is a big cost, but...since I built the whole battery, there is less than 3% voltage drop on full power and I unlocked the speed with Arduino code.
    Why am I posting this? Because on stock when I unlocked, it still sucked going up hills. Also max speed was 18 mph. I am not sure if it has to do with the thicker gauge wiring i used for the whole battery and the lack of voltage drop, but the thing goes 22 mph on the upgraded LifePO4 battery and the 250w motor doesn't struggle as much. For some reason on stock batteries there is a voltage drop of up to 10% which obviously isn't that good on full power.
    that and I can recharge the sucker thousands of times. Good for a 3 mile work/3 mile home commute. Also these cells can be charged quickly so I have it wired up to quick charge and still will get >1000 cycles at 95% DoD. 8 amps in = 20 minute from dead to full charge.

    • @YouTruther
      @YouTruther  Год назад +2

      5-6 miles more is about right. 48v battery has even higher capacity, but you'll end up going faster and that drains faster, so it evens out. if you want a boat load of range, check out the double battery video, and then get one gigantic battery to mount outside and you can triple your range easily, or more.

      if you've got this thing tuned ok, then it's like a normal small tire bike, not going to be fast, but sure beats walking. I really wish people would STOP tampering with the batteries on E vehicles in a dangerous attempt to increase speed or range. Each product is SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED AND INTENDED by the manufacturer to use a specific battery type and number for safety purposes related to the specific vehicle in question and according to the owners manual the FCC actually has the authority to take away the end user's legal right to operate the vehicle if they make unauthorized modifications of any kind.
    If range and speed are a problem then perhaps you should consider driving a regular internal cumbustion engine powered vehicle or a bicycle instead? These electric powered vehicles (razor scooters,electric go karts etc.) were NEVER intended to be used as an alternative to a pedal powered bicycle as an alternate means of transportation....they were designed to be relatively affordable riding toys for older kids and younger light weight adults.
