Point three: pearls absolutely SHOULD have returned. Point four: the UI on mouse and Keyboard is HORRIBLE. On controller is amazing. Weird that they never figured that one out.
i get why they didn't though, anything would have been good for end game loot farming i noticed this heavily after i used a controller for a month, its so weird but its a lot better than the lag at launch, thanks for checking this video out and commenting btw, really appreciate the constructive criticism!! and honestly trying not to fanboy lmao been watching you for like 6 years ahaha keep up the amazing content lad
@@infamousguy1 It doesn't get rid of the annoyance of their existance. All it did was add another layer of grind or save file scumming to reset if you get bad rng. You really should have just been able to buy which one you wanted. I would have just been happier with them removing them altogether and just balancing the game accordingly. It was always just a lazy way to increase grinding in an already intensively grindy game.
I dead ass thought there was GONNA be higher rarities. Sine legeendaries were so common i thought there was gonna be some "NEW LEGENDARY" tier but nope lmao
The fact that the presequel did characterization better than 3 is astonishing. There's a quest where you need to hire a claptrap to open a door. But one of the players is a claptrap? YOUR claptrap can't open doors. And YOUR claptrap HATES himself for that. They took a likely plot hole and in 2 lines made it good characterization. And there's nothing like that in 3
i played Claptrap JUST to hear the interactions he'd have with other characters, and i can safely say ive never chose a character purely based off that in any other Borderlands game
To add: The biggest issue with the story in 3. They character don't know when to shut up. Like seriously, theres so much dialogue it might as well have been a movie. The villians turn into a nagging character that just never shuts up. Ava would actually be a better character if you cut about 50% of her voice lines. The game should have just been the maliwan and Atlas war and it would have been better for it.
18:28 bruh I couldn't agree more. I think Ava killed the story. I was legit getting into the story until Maya died, and then i suddenly just didn't care. The worst part was Ava blaming everyone but herself for getting Maya killed. Honestly they should make a Vault that revives people, and just bring Maya back
You are dumb. Ava does blame herself and she does apologize. If you actually pay attention. In the story line. When she talk to Tannis she amite she was wrong. To blame Lilith. Secondly she did kind apology to Lilith like near the end. Also you all are dumb. Like you wouldn't blame everyone else if you was a kid and saw someone kill you mentor Or mom and dad or family. The first thing you usually do is take it on everyone else. Everyone does it. When they get hurt badly. And thirdly she just a kid. And should all know it wasn't Ava fault. Everyone know kids does mostly opposite what there Mom dad mentor or teacher tell them to do. And Maya knew this already. If anyone fault. It be more like Maya taking on younger Apprentice. And not making sure Ava doesn't show up. And had someone watch her carefully.
I don't know WHAT they were thinking with Ava. Apparently, people hated Tina (I must've been one of the few who actually liked her prior to the DLC), but I've literally NEVER heard anybody say anything positive about Ava. If I didn't know any better, I'd have felt like the Project Manager got into a fight with the character designer and story writer and then spitefully rewrote Ava to be the most unlikeable Bratty Sue to ever exist. It boggles my mind that so many people could've looked at this story and said "yeah, let's go with that." Was there ANY quality control on the writing team?
It's not just sirens. They can leech anything. They could literally kill anyone with a single touch, it's just that vault monsters and sirens make them more powerful. They talk about leeching their followers who are regular bandits and the like. So it's even worse then that. They have the ability to kill anyone so easily it's stupid. They made the villians way too OP and then just ignore the story and give us the biggest plot armour.
Early on in BL3, I thought the brother was going to be the mastermind of the story. The funny thing about his delivery was that he was so controlled and subtle, while his sister gesticulated and giggled like an imbecile, I thought he was manipulating her the entire time. Not only would this have been an interesting parallel with Jack (again, a villain who's not a direct threat) but this time the villain is entirely in control, but it would have even been a good and rather subtle commentary on the nature of many popular streamers: how despite being so beloved and wealthy and popular they're not actually in control of their own lives. The game dashed any hope of subtlety and good writing pretty fucking quickly after that.
Ill even add in that lillith by BL2 was considered the most powerful siren as we can see she phases a whole fucking flying town and in borderlands 3 can do a lot with her powers he was right jn taking her instead of maya sure maya is a threat but lillith could've proven to be even a grester threat as she honed in her power to get to jack faster if he had taken maya he wouldn't have had enough time with maya once they knew where the vault was but in BL3 when maya dies its just ava and her yet you're not even there i feel like the cut scene should've played while inside the vault getting the erdiam smasher that way it'll justify her death more but no right as you leave thats when she dies bullshit
I really actually like bl3, theres just the little things that ruin it: -Vault hunters being invisible, -How Maya's death is handled -The troy betrayal that goes nowhere -Aurelia's betrayal -Tannis being a siren -Vaughn being written poorly -Not explaining why all the raiders seemingly disbanded to do their own things -Tyreens motivation -Ava
I think you forgot the entire game being a dumpster fire No plot, no characters nor development, and derivative writing. The only thing that was good was gun play...
The story would have been 10 times more interesting if troy was finale boss sure he's not great but he has much more personality then Tyreen and they even kinda hinted at this being the case because he was tired of having to always be behind his sister so he had a lot more motive then Tyreen and he was dying without his sister until taking Maya's powers just all around makes him have more motive for his actions tyreen doesn't really have any legitimate reason for why she's doing
For me he as a lot harder to take down than tyreen too, the final boss fight with her was a huge letdown tbh, far too easy considering she was supposed to be the big bad, troy actually gave me a challenge
“You feel like you are just watching the story, and not actually apart of it” YES!! It absolutely felt this way. In borderlands 2 the, “YOU KILLED WILLHELM?!” Was so satisfying the first time playing. Like yes, me, the player, did this, such a good feeling. But in 3, I as the player feel like I’m invisible. Unironically the only time I felt like I was in the story was when the general truant dude was like “you killed my little brother” or whatever lol Also, on the anointment topic, I absolutely agree. I have nearly 3000 hours in destiny 2, and all 3k of that has been spent trying to get slightly better versions of the guns I already have, and it’s miserable. The anointment system literally brought the worst part of destiny 2 into borderlands. There came a point when I just got so tired of it and just started using a save editor (I know, I’m a monster) to give my characters essentially infinite eridium, that way I could just get a good roll of a gun then take it to the anointment reroller.
Wait so you hate bl3 because you have to grind for good items? Dude you should just quit looter shooters then cause that’s the whole point of these games. Farming raids and dungeons in destiny, farming the dark zone in the division, farming hood annointments in borderlands, farming steel path in warframe. All looter shooters have some kind of grind for the gear or mods you want but NOW it’s bad because bl3 did it? Dude just quit looter shooters if grinding is such a problem for you.
On the topic of the UI...one of the things in BL2 that drives me crazy is how your character, and sometimes NPC companions like Deathtrap, just...stand on top of your inventory and you have to rotate the screen to see your crap. That, and BL3's inventory keybinds just make more sense to me. Other than that, no arguments here
yeah the age of The engine and BL2 really show there unfortunately, the UX has gotten a lot better since launch i remember it used to lag like hell when you went to your inv so glad thats gone. its just a personal issue i wasnt expecting people to agree honestly ahaha
The Monarch on Moze is for BOSSES. You can even use a NON-Anointed one. What makes it work is the Mind Sweeper class mod. And you can use ANY Mind Sweeper as well. I’ve also done a bunch of runs where I don’t even focus on Anointments at all. Anointments is essentially farming for perfect grip from BL2. Luckily Anointments can also be rerolled. So, first point is kind moot.
Yeah Never really been too into builds for 3, never got into them as heavily as i did in 2. suppose picking rocket pods moze as a first character basically just made me use the "rocket pod go brr and kill everything" strategy, i searched up your moze build i tried follwing it too a tee but didnt have the DLC for the Re-Volter shield and could never get a God roll Mind Sweeper. im definitely no expert when it comes to annointments and i can see by the comments ahaha
I really do think they put the Maya's death cutscene trigger in the wrong spot. It would make more sense for the trigger to be in that vault. Think about it, you walk in and the cutscene plays now the player is not within what I like to call "stopping this range" which is where the player character is well within the range and their capabilities. The reason that Roland's death works so well is because Jack just pops in and shoots Roland with no witty banter, and Theatrics. He gives you no chance to save Roland. The only hint you have tohim being there is that he appears behind Roland with the digi-struct particles appearing(which I only just notice in my most recent playthrough).
Wow, it's been 3 years and I still have no desire to play this. The story really turned me off, I would rather play the older ones. This killed my enthusiasm for borderlands
I put it off for as long as I could until I randomly saw this guy with a BL emblem tattoo out of the blue. I finally decided to jump in and now I just wanna rush through the story and all the DLC and go back to the other BLs 🤦🏽♂️
I never beat 3, i got so bored of the story, comedy, medicore bosses, and uninteresting side quest that i quit right after Taneth was kidnapped. Worst part was i was playing with friends and had to outright tell them i wasn't having fun and wanted to play something else.
1.) I give anoints a little more break than this (though I understand the frustration with the mechanic) because weapon parts/prefixes are incredibly less important now. Even with your example of the dpuh/packing gratifying herald, there’s still one or two viable prefixes that aren’t the “god roll” prefix so long as the anoint is decent as well. This is the case with a large amount of items in the game; where so long as the anoint is good, the prefix matters much much less. Even with anoints essentially taking the place of parts/prefixes (which if this was your main criticism of anoints I would understand but that doesn’t seem to be the case), there are plenty of builds for all characters that have anoint wiggle room and is a lot easier to get than a dpuh or 97 sham. 2.) the crazy earl reroll really made this easier on people to get their anointed gear AND their favorite prefix without endless hours of farming to happen to get the god roll of both to drop. It’s strange this wouldn’t be brought up as this is not a new mechanic at this point and REALLY lessens the sting of your first criticism. 3.) even in borderlands 2 where there’s no anoints, you could still get your god roll prefix, but still have less damage than an actual god roll due to the weapon parts not being perfect. Weapon parts are MUCH LESS important in borderlands 3 and in a lot of cases, are set to have some specific weapon parts every time. To me, I do not see a difference between finally getting a dpuh to drop only for it to have suboptimal parts, and getting a packing gratifying to drop only for it to have a suboptimal anoint; only difference I see is that at least in bl3 you can reroll anoints unlike parts in bl2, and anoints offer much more build variation than weapon parts ever did (a suboptimal anoint on one build could be a god roll for another build, whereas this was almost never if ever the case with bl2 weapon parts/prefixes). 4.) bit of a nitpick on my part, but there were plenty of times in the other games where the cutscenes left people feeling like their character had very little impact of where the story wanted to jerk you around, leaving you feeling like you had much less impact to the world overall; one of the most obvious examples that come to mind to me is when we watch Handsome Jack digistruct behind Roland, shoot him in the back, capture Lilith, and get away all the while our character is a foot away standing still. At least in this game, they tried to implement reasons into the cutscene for why we couldn’t stop them, such as being phaselocked. I can understand for some people maybe constantly being trapped in a bubble or blocked from helping made this issue more prevalent and in their face, but I really don’t think this is an issue with bl3 as much as it’s an issue with borderlands cutscenes in general and how they generally choose to move the plot forward throughout the franchise. I think this is a little more relevant here because you made a point to say it was going back to bl2 that showcased a lot of these complaints of bl3 for you, but I would imagine this is something you would notice in the bl2 story as well if you just replayed it. I think a lot of your other criticisms are pretty valid and are common complaints you see from the community, but it just felt like that first half of the video came either from a place of being uninformed, or needlessly nitpicky in order to bolster your own feelings on the game, without taking into consideration whether or not these issues existed in the franchise already, or not mentioning aspects of your undesirable mechanic that actually either improve the game loop, or make little to no difference to the game loop when compared to previous installments.
thank you so much for spending the time to make such a valid and long reply i really appreciate it! i agree whilst the god rolls of weapons are still harder to get even with a DPUH or 94% dropping, i just didnt personally like how they implemented the annointments into the game, as for someone who didnt want to get in min maxxing a character with perfect rolls of guns in BL2, they could understand "the DP prefix is the best, get that and youll probably be fine" to how they work in 3, it was a lot easier to understand what the best weapons were, for example my friend who isnt very borderlands savvy is a lot more likely to know "my gun is good" from seeing that Double penetrating text on the gun compared to checking annointments. yeah my bad for not mentioning crazy earls rerolls, my problem was with the system as a concept but i shouldve mentioned you dont HAVE to continuously farm for rolls. yeah i see your point about the cutscenes in general, it was just weird imo to have cutscenes with you in to not mention your character at all, though BL2 and 3 suffer from your character kinda doing nothing in cutscenes, it felt more like you were actually there in 2, even if you kinda did nothing for some weird reason. TPS actually does a great job in the cutscenes and with the characters in general so i have no idea how they downgraded so much in 3. yeah im no expert on 3 and honestly nostalgia can get in the way of judgement sometimes, but thats something i have had to accept, people wont agree with me on things or see points i have as bad or uninformed, and im glad people like you take the time to give some good constructive criticism so thank you!
@@LFXGaming I appreciate your ability to step outside of your opinion and judge my critiques/opinions fairly without bias. I truly do understand the frustration behind mechanics such as anoints and can definitely understand what you said in your reply about it being harder to keep track of what is and isn’t good on bl3. That’s a good point that I didn’t think of but I know most every player can relate to; even maybe the more veteran players. Everyone always appreciates a RUclipsr who appreciates critiques and it’s nice that you went through a long comment on a week old video 👍 Edit: I do also feel the weird space in bl3 cutscenes that does feel different than bl2, but when I also went back and played bl2 I was surprised to find how often I now felt similarly with these cutscenes as I did in bl3; I personally believed it may be because bl3 brings it more to our attention by trapping us or us directly being spoken to and looked at while we stayed motionless. I think these were things they intended to help improve the feeling of vacancy in cutscenes, but unfortunately ended up showcasing an ongoing issue with the franchise in a more glaring way. It is strange that it feels like ironically TPS may have handled cutscenes the best as you said. Just shows more and more that TPS was an incredibly flawed game with a lot of great ideas in it
I agree I have replayed all three games and I always spend the most time playing 2 and the first game. I struggle to get through the story of 3 and then fighting the rng of anointments. Three does have the best experience but it should since it's the fourth game in the series and had better hardware. The UI is better in 3 same with the Bank and transferring between characters. For the retconning of 3 or even making changes they would have to use some of time travel. Sadly we are stuck with Ava. If I could rewrite 3 Ava would be completely different to where Maya looks for her just knowing she is a siren who basically has Angels power. Where she doesn't play a big part of the story and Tannis won't be a Siren and Lilith does what she does in the end of the game but in the beginning. She was built up at the end of 2 and the Fight for Sanctuary only to be tore down within the first hour in 3.
the Quality of Life in bl3 is a hell of a lot better i can admit, when you play 3 for a few days and go back to TPS 2 or 1 you really notice it, especially with fast travelling, it wouldn't be so bad if you only had to play through the story once but the way the borderlands games are designed for you to play over and over it becomes tedious imo
Worst thing about the Amara bit is that she legit tries to interact with and get answers out of the other sirens and they are just like "lol ok anyways" like she calls one of them her sister (I believe lilith) etc and she just gets ignored. So even out of cutscenes she gets the major shaft.
Yeah it's crazy how they didn't build off of TPS with your character having more stakes in the story. You're basically not even there the entire game. And even worse at the very end, they ask who should lead the Crimson Raiders. Instead of, idk, you the player who did ALL the work and killed the Calypso twins. No, we'll just let the teenager who blames everyone for something she did be the leader
i just recently grabbed 3 while already being prepared for story to be terrible and have weird agenda but feeling just... not even involved into story while being center piece of it in theory is indeed fucking miserable, gameplay is FREAKING godly and takedowns alot of fun but dear god the story just a the most massive let down
the way borderlands is created for you to play it over and over really turns me off creating a new character all the time, luckily you can start in a DLC at a higher level now and dont have to slog through as much of the game, hope you have a good time with it though! if you havent played 2 or TPS they are great too!
@@LFXGaming oh I did actually, enjoyed both alot and that's why was willing to give 3 a fair shot and most likely give wonderlands a try too, as for new tales? After warning in the video I'll pass lol
2:09 yeah I agree with that 100% especially when it came to that gun. I listened to the RUclipsrs. Got all the correct gear and… the gun still sucked. Could barely kill anything. Even tho at the time I basically made a 1 by 1 copy of the build of each RUclipsr I watched talking about it. But for some reason it was amazing for them and shit for me. Don’t know how the monarch is one of the best weapons in the game. Cause it sucks :/
6:32 so basically it’s the difference between watching a bad guy take both of your friend’s knee caps even though you can easily save him. And the same bad guy taking your friend’s knee caps, but he legit forgot you were even in the same room as him. And he REFUSES to acknowledge your existence till after he’s done with your friend.
crazy earl has an annointment reroll machine straight across from the vending machine in front of his door. there you can spend all that worthless erridium to reroll the annoints on your gear.
in borderlands 2 if you listen to jack and angel's echolog about mya, it explains that for what ever reason erridium has zero effect on mya, thus useless to jack for charging the vault key, where as both angel and Lilith both are effected by it.
Pearl rarities should have honestly just been the gun's god rolls. Like... Tada, you just got the best version of this legendary time with some extra silly fanfare attached to it or something.
I rlly wish they would just retcon the base BL3 story. It’s just so hard to get over how bad they butchered mayas character. The only thing I can see being done is in the next game, AvA doing a full 360 in character and becoming more mature and reflective on past mistakes. Maybe another time jump or something, I feel like (if done right) it would acknowledge the bad character choices in BL3 and make the fans feel in some way validation. If anyones ever played DA2 before think of carver, in the base game people hated him and he was overall the least liked companion but when the DLC came out they changed the character and even had jokes that made fun of how much of n asshole the character was when he was younger. It made him a lot more enjoyable and made u putting up with him thru the base story feel justified.
We need to go full "Endgame" and have B4 with The Watcher leading a new team of vault hunters traveling back in time and fixing the twins shenanigans that messed up his premonition of a great war.
A point towards weapon stats: Annointments do NOT change anything about them, the +X% weapon damage, +Y percent splash radius and so on are inherent stats of the weapons that vary by weapon parts, which is a similarly fucked matter, but is unrelated to annointments, a gun with an annointment has the descriptor text for said Annoinment at the bottom of the weapon card, like the Monarch shown at 3:24 with it's "While an action skill is active, weapon damage is increased by 100%". And while that is still absolutely horrible to farm for, you can at least get a different annointment by visiting crazy earl, where the Annoint Reroller is. Also, what really hurts pretty much ALL players' experience, especially now that the forums are gone, is that the skill descriptions aren't actually true to what most skills do in the damage formula, which leads to builds being very unoptimized, which will make Mayhem 10 much more spongy than it needs to be and throws off the feeling of how good or bad a gun actually is. Any decently build Moze will destroy pretty much anything with a Monarch while the Shredifier falls off hard. But you cannot feel that until your build is optimized enough that weapon balance becomes the deciding factor.
This is just my own opinion and kinda how I approached borderlands 2: First time through (and mayyybe 1 or 2 playthroughs afterwards) I paid attention to the story and dialogue; got a kick out of some of it. I enjoyed Jack as a villain and some of the side characters. After that, every time I’d replay the story in new game plus or as another character, I would not actively pay attention to the story itself but to the gameplay. I would put RUclips videos on in the background while I enjoyed finding different ways of killing enemies and bosses, trying out new skills, etc. I do not care for 3’s story (although, like everyone, I wish it had been good) but that only seems like a big deal for my first playthrough. In comparison with 2, the guns feel way better, movement and UI are less clunky and the gameplay overall is smoother. If I could get both a good story and good gameplay in a game I’d want both obviously, but for a borderlands game I’ll take satisfying gameplay over a good story any day of the week.
Completely agree. And I'll add that BL2's story is incredibly overrated. You are still more or less a tool running one errand to another. People don't care much for you either and you don't matter much in the cutscenes or dialogues. And if not for Jack who basically hard-carried the whole story through his sheer charisma, there would be nothing to write home about. I do admit that the characterization IS much better in BL2 and that the style and humor landed much, much better. But I don't get people referencing BL2's story as if it was a complex masterpiece and actually mattered for the type of game it is.
@@lovethepandainyouthat’s exactly what I think of the story. I don’t care about any of these people why am I doing chores for them? If I want a good compelling story I’ll play dark souls or elden ring or sekiro but I’m playing borderlands cause I want loot not to be ran around doing chores for people I don’t even care about. It’s probably why I switched to warframe cause while there is a story it’s way way waaayyyy in the back seat till you 3/4 of the way through your star chart. Till then you’re free to shoot, loot, craft and upgrade as you please. Warframe let’s you have fun before the story even picks up but in 2 I have to play through the story 3 times before the fun even starts. No thanks I’ll stay with warframe let me know when a borderlands that doesn’t hold my my hand comes out.
@@lovethepandainyou it is an mmo yes but it’s also a looter shooter and unlike destiny unless you’re too impatient to sell mods and relics for premium currency you can get everything without spending a single penny
I wish they expanded on troys phase lock ability. That cutscene where he phase locked you was amazing. They should have done way more with scenes like this.
I had over 1200 hrs on BL2, I think I had maybe around 10-15 hrs on BL3. I was so done finishing the BL3 story and I just couldn't bring myself to do another play though. I was thinking about coming back for some of the dlc but I was just so let down man. it would be great if BL4 revived my love for the franchise but im not gonna get my hopes up
I was so pissed after killing the final boss and i wasnt even in the last cutscene. I love the vault hunters you can play as(mainly fl4k) but feeling less important than bloody ava is just sucky
I also think they got dlc incredibly right, of the 3 I've played they're all fun as hell and I like how many enemies there are but I feel like some main characters were dumbed down, I liked marcus in the old games but god I hate him so much in bl3 he's just annoying
Honestly, Borderlands 3 felt like it was made by children in some way. "MY CHAWACTEW WILL BECOME GWOD!!!!" The stakes are so cartoonishly high they mean absolutely nothing? Tyreen and Troy want to become God. Okay, so they want power. What for? What's their end goal? Beliefs? "THEYWE STWEAMEWS... THOSE AWE EVIL!!!!" that and their parents didn't want them to leave a planet to protect them. And even then, Tyreen succeeds in becoming "God", and to paraphrase Tannis, "What is God if not the most powerful being in the universe" So, we kill "God"... Are WE the most powerful beings or what? What was the whole point? What was I meant to get out of it...? There's also the obvious braindead writing. In all these years, no corporation decided to just nuke two bandits out of orbit? Not even to try and fight them? (The Behind the scenes had anti-cult ads from the corporations, so I'm guessing something went really bad during development.) No one found the Vault Map? It was literally just lying around, and in year they didn't find it? If Tyreen can just teleport anyone anywhere in space, why doesn't she teleport our characters into a meat grinder? Why doesn't she confront us? Why don't they ever try to kill us? They're the most OP characters we've seen yet. The cutscenes are also very, very awkward and badly made. Which, for a game that wants to be more cinematic? That's not good. The fact Ava feels like a terrible self insert, does nothing, is a LITERAL CHILD, yet somehow becomes the leader of a Space Militia??? The Main Vault Hunters are VERY one note. They never evolve or change, and they don't really react in their own way. Honestly, the Vault Hunter dialogue is a HUGE downgrade from TPS. In TPS they'd each react differently, in interesting ways that still drove the narrative, and the NPCs would also react to them. Not to mention they'd also talk to each other in Co-op sometimes. This one is more personal to me, but the fact we kind of are just goody two shoe guys? The whole point of Vault Hunters is that we are Mercenaries/Treasure Hunters. Each one has their reason to fight, but it's not because they're space superheroes. In Borderlands 1, we aren't fighting anything evil, just a corporation trying to get the edge against it's competitors. In The Pre-Sequel, we were hired just to seek a vault, but are boarded by a crazed cult-militia that is desperate to stop the future. They're in our way, but that's the only real reason we fight them. In Borderlands 2, we are fighting Jack because he wants to kill all Mercenaries and Bandits. That is us. Plus he has the key to the Vault, which we want. We get caught up in this little war because Jack wants to actually make Pandora a livable place, which goes against our interests. In Borderlands 3, we fight Tyreen and Troy because....????? They want to become Gods (for the sake of being Gods because power because they had family issues.) They don't want what's in the vault, they just want to succ the monsters. Honestly, what's the reason our characters didn't just join them? They literally have no reason to fight the CoV. "They're bandits!" Yes, every notable character in the border planets is a bandit. You could argue the COV want Vault Hunters gone (They seem to be against vault hunters) but again, why? They literally thank us for killing the Vault Monster for them, aka they lose NOTHING from Vault Hunters existing and getting the random treasure and riches. Honestly, the plot would make more sense if we were on their side. They both want power. It just feels like we are goody two shoes super heroes because "WE FIGHT BAD PEOPWE". It's just so out of character for the franchise. There's way, way, way more things I could mention, but eh... I think what ruined the gameplay for me was Mayhem 2.0. They left a LOT of playstyles and gear behind, because, duh, they couldn't possibly rebalance everything. So you have stuff like The Green Monster. Which is one of two Bottomless Mags focused class mod. It's feature is the more you shoot, the more Acid damage you get. Except.... They didn't make it scale. So the damage is just extremely pitiful, not to mention it has zero synergy with Moze. Honestly, in my opinion the issue is exactly the focus and over-use of Sirens and Vaults. It was special because it was rare. We open multiple vaults (Not to mention that in the New Tales [my god, what a nightmare of a "game"] there's a third Vault in promethea that random citizens find by just... walking around in the sewers.) The fact it's so trivial completely ruins it. Not to mention that Tales from the Borderlands and The Pre-Sequel had set up a lot of intrigue for the franchise, before we got these new writers. (Too bad both of them got partly retconned [Like Aurelia, Vaughn and Rhys' characters being rewritten, the ending of TPS and Tales being completely ignored and erased, and other little things) I honestly would be WAY more interested for a Borderlands taking place during the Corporate Wars and the downfall of the "Central government" than 50 vaults and scientists recreating the power of the (supposedly super rare and mysterious) Sirens. My only explanation is that the chest Rhys and Fiona found has the ability to show really crappy non-canon alternate realities, and that's all 3 and New Tales is. Then they join the Watcher and the other living Vault Hunters from TPS, 1 and 2 and await whatever is to come.
hud has a lot of problems in bl2, theres this unintentional equipping of a weapon into a neighboring slot and equipping another grenade instead of leaving the slot empty, weird mouse wheel inversion that you have to fix by reopening inventory, cant invest skill points into left or right tree when you display all three at once. Putting the backpack inventory next to hotbar saves one mouse click in bl3 compared to bl2.
if you wanna blame anyone for how 3 handles anoints and "godroll" farming, blame Joltz for farming a quest redemption screen 230+ times for a "godroll" relic in his BL2 streams of *Green Rarity*
Do you not know that you can re-roll anointments? You don't have to farm the legendary multiple times. Though it is pretty expensive, 250 eridium per re-roll.
Entirely unrelated, but I don't know which save editor you used. If you want to save yourself the hassle of getting anoints on a particularly good roll, some save editors DO let you edit the anointment, under "generic parts" it's usually labeled. For instance, I'm looking at my Supercharged Mother Too, and it has GPart_All_UnhealthyRadDamage (I ignore anoints instead of sweating over them, as long as they're not sabotaging me like periodic novas can when near barrels). That generic part is correlated to when under 50% health, do 100% bonus radiation damage. And yeah. I could agree or disagree on the topic of how they handled legendaries. I think legendaries as an item type are too common, but from targeted sources, the desired drops are about right. Especially that one event they ran with loot explosions, good grief. Completely desensitized someone new to the game to the intended value of a legendary weapon. That being said, I also will never forgive borderlands 2 on launch when I got told to get a bee shield to run a raid boss, farmed nonstop for 3 days to get a single drop, then got 1 exceptionally shitty variant that had niche use against pyro peet (sort of). That was one of many psychic wounds I was dealt that quickly killed all desire to play that game. Now if I want an appropriate element of a legendary in BL3, assuming I want to ignore god rolls, even one that can spawn in all 6 elements can be ground out within a day for the targeted element. Lets me just get something passable for the purpose and get on with the game much quicker. You're dead on about most of this stuff, though, bro. I have to agree with most other opinions.
i have no idea why in the cutscenes why all 4 player hunters arent there all 4 are canonically there such as 1 and 2 i get for the regular boss fights but the pre rendered ones absolutely should have all 4 referenced
Plot twist: Borderlands 3 is anti-vault hunter propaganda created by Jack to show that they can’t protect the galaxy without large-scale war and casualties
I wish you could just make blue/green/white weapons invisible. It’s so annoying trying to see what legendaries dropped when they are covered in piles of trash. Trash with laser beams.
I feel like half of the campaign was missing, it really feels like Troy would've gotten more power hungry and betrayed Tyreen, then you and Tyreen team up to fight Troy, in which he kills Tyreen and becoming a stronger boss fight
i meant just for the fun, as in i play each game heavily for the stories and without that i can only play for fun instead of both playing for the story and the fun gameplay :)
I only started playing today... and yeah, I've already been feeling these. I had my reservations upon seeing the siren character, then all was confirmed when the first item I see in a vending machine was a legendary grenade that didn't even seem like it should be a legendary. To top it off, Lilith having her powers taken, and I already knew my bl2 main (Maya) would die, I genuinely don't think I'll finish this game, I love the guns so far, they're f-ing awesome (minus underwhelming legendaries), but I just don't feel like I like it as much as 2 and I kinda feel sad about it. Doesn't help that the main villains remind me of some of the brats I went to high school with, and are literal social media influencers. Anyway, that's my rant. It might be worth saying, I've only played 2 before this, I did recently pick up 1 and think I may load it up after I inevitability uninstall 3, I won't refund it, but I will eventually uninstall it. (Btw, there is a reason Maya is not considered for charging the vault. She can't use eridium to supercharge herself like Lilith and angel can. One of the holos explains it, I think it's in the preserve somewhere.)
I really hate how it doesn’t split the weapon types in the ui after u sort them by type 😂 just a gap that’s it don’t have any other problems with the game I love it
I think there's a huge issue with pretty much knowing Lillith is alive at the end of the director's cut. It gives very little room for time to pass because with a fully functioning ship why didn't they just go to the damn moon? It gives less room for Ava to grow and get experience and even tho i don't like her Lillith handed her the keys for some fucking reason and if she comes back then it'll be such a cop out even if it is for the better. I don't mind a retcon but with how much the creators seem to like Ava and how much importance they gave her as being maya's disciple and a future siren her having no importance in the next title would be really weird but her not growing and becoming more likeable behind the scenes means either we're going to have to watch it happen through all of the next game, it will be instant, or even worse, it doesn't happen at all.
- Complains about having to farm for a god roll legendary and how mind numbing it can be - Asks for a new ultra-rare rarity with very low drop chance. You're inconsistent. The color of a gun doesn't matter, it's just aesthetic. Convenience. Filtering. What matters is the actual rarity of the drop, and how good it is related to the rest. It's the fact that it is hard to get and higly desirable that make it so good to finally put your hand on it. The color of the beam doesn't matter. And what if they add a new rarity in the game ? You'll try to farm it, and when it finally drops you'll complain because it has bad rolls. You'll be back right on square one. Adding a new rarity doesn't solve any problem. You'll talk about pearlescent instead of talking about legendaries, and target farm the best ones just like you do with legendaries. The only thing that changed is the color of the beam. Look, I've played BL3 for a very long time without any DLC. I knew of the new guns introduced by those DLCs, and how powerfull they were compared the ones available in the base game. Heck, I even had some stashed away, that I got through Maurice's vendor machine, although I couldn't use them (that's kinda cruel from the devs to dangle them right under your noses like that). I wanted those guns. It didn't matter that they were "just" legendaries. They were potent, and I didn't have access to them, that's all. And what made it memorable when I finally bought a full version of the game is seeing new guns drop, trying them and comparing them with my old gear. Who cares if they were legendaries like the rest ? The harder it is to get, the more value you attribute to it. That's economics 101 right here, the basis of any transaction : Rarer = more work to get = more value. It's as simple as that. Add new colors all you want. It won't change that fact. You cannot complain about how hard it is to get something, while asking to add something else even harder to get on the other hand, it doesn't make sense. Do you want it to be very rare, so it is satisfying to get but you need a lot of farm ? Or do you want it easy to get, so you don't have to put up with a mind-numbing farm but you quickly reach a point where you have nothing interesting to farm for and the game get stale ? That's the question you should be asking yourself. The matter of arbitrary rarity categories is just irrelevant.
I am so confused about what you guys are talking about with the monarch. It was the best gun in the game the moment I picked it up, even when it had a useless annointment and I had bad gear.
"annointments" that you said...... is just... wrong... those aren't anointments, those are the weapon PARTS..... and guess what, rolling a DPUH in bl2? DOESNT MEAN YOU HAVE THE BEST ONE... there was weapon parts and modifiers on borderlands 2..... the diference is that you had to know via a separate GRAPH explaining them, the only thing bl3 added in weapons were the explanation of the random rolls that every other game had, and later on the TRUE anointments, that are the yellow re-rollable special feature... if anything your point KILLS ITSELF, because if that is a bad thing in your view, you should LOVE BL3 ._. cause it added FIX ITEMS that always roll with the same parts and modifiers! :D hellwalker, impaler, and many others have fixed parts, if you farm 1000 of them of the same level, they'll all be the EXACT SAME with same parts and modifiers... a bad thing that they did was with the class and relics, those have 20+ prefixes and 20+ modifiers that can be anything... making them as difficult to farm as a god roll gun...
Axton got screwed over, they could have made him second in comand of the raiders, instead, hes a model , which makes no sense given how he loved action and violence, why would he be a model, hell he looked happy in the raiders in his echo logs in the pre sequal, guage too
just played 4 player (all fl4g) co-op on mayhem 10. in cutscenes contaned someone shout: ''whos f*cking monkeys/jabbers gun is this''. also got lvl 1 infinity pistol on mission Capture the Frag, which you escort bomb to COV outhouse (or what i presume it is).
My head cannon is that you as a siren arnt worth it to them where as Lilith and maya are legends and you are a nobody basically. Also they froze you in place for the cutscenes to torture you as to say your so weak you couldn’t even resist my night and save your friends.
I don't get the story complaints. Was there any story I should've cared about in any Borderlands game? Apart from Jack and (sometimes) Torgue, the characters are just meat.
And you don't speak for everyone. I like Ava. She a good character. Just miss understood. I say Ava is awesome. The problem people hating Ava is because you all don't really pay attention to the story line. Not only that. People should had Realized she just a kid. It wasn't her fault and the way she acted wasn't her fault to. Anyone would blame other if they saw someone they care about. Even they knew it there fault. But she did apologize to Lilith at the end. Did Amite she was wrong when she blame Lilith when she talk to Tannis. Would know this. If you was paying attention to the story line.
I would genuinely take a new looter IP warts and all over watching the progressive soupification of the series and it's characters. The best part about stories is that they are preserved by them ENDING.
Hard disagree on UI being seemless or in any way good in BL2. You have to scroll it like a mad man cause there is a lot of dead space on the screen, gun selection is fimmicky and buggy exactly in ways you describe it for BL3 and i think about it ALL the time using it That's my expercience with it at least, across both BL2 and Presequel and /multiple/ laptops and PCS
i had a theory it was because the Calypsos brainwash their followers into thinking that they are the only sirens and that every other siren are "fake sirens" and trying to imitate their "god like form". it makes sense if there are others just as powerful as you you just scold them as fake to keep the followers worshipping you and not them.
I agree with some of this. But it sounds like you are either not as experienced with BL as you claim, or you didn't really understand the games that well. Not trying to be rude, but your "what's a raid boss" comment made me question your whole take.
i was referring to how exciting the game used to feel as a kid, first jumping into BL2 as a 12 yr old in 2013 i didn't know anything about the game, and after completing the story twice i still hadn't heard of a "raid boss" before and hadn't bought the captain scarlet DLC yet, when i thought i was the shit for ages having lots of legendaries and my friend told me i wasnt even close to seeing all the games content i was so excited and intrigued by how i didnt know any of this. it was just highlighting how special moments like that used to feel in borderlands, and now as an adult it doesnt hit as hard :(
in BL1, BL2, and BL:TPS, the raid bosses (with a single exception) cannot be accessed until youve completed their respective area's story content, and even then they can be quite lut of the way once youve unlocked them point is, no shit someone 2 seconds past beating the game for the first time isnt going to know what a raid boss is numpty
Ok for your second thing: BL2 you stand there, watch Roland get shot and then do nothing to Jack. That’s frankly far worse than any of them in BL3, but I would love to have the vault Hunter matter more. So agreed on that
yeah all the games are similar like that i did feel more taken out just because of how many there were in 3, it got me thinking more, TPS did it a lot better imo
Not quite. Jack literally teleported in the room behind him and shot him first thing. Nobody knew he was there until roland got shot. In 3 we watch troy kill maya and do nothing
BL4 "deal with the devil". You resurrect maya and sacrifice ava. Devil turns out to be some cosmic horror bs. Reason to add in more cool weapons and give players person modes of travel like rocket boots or something. BL3 map is trash. Especially areas with multiple levels. You stack all that shit on top of one another and becomes unreadable trash. Pretty horrible in Revenge of the Cartel once you enter the building.
I don't mean to be rude but I think your bulid may just be a lil off, as on Moze usually the Monarch is a never ending bullet hose, even with eh roles, also you can use a reroll machine to easily get what you need, Eridum is DUMMY easy to farm. Other then that, yeah this story is ASS which is so weird because the DLCs SLAP hard in this game so the base game being this wack feels just so odd
I copied K6s build too a tee, my only problem is not having yr2 dlc so I can't get the revolter shield and I need to reacquire the POEK, it was only when I first got the gun I thought "how can it be this bad compared to k6" and I've never thought that in previous games
@@LFXGaming Ah, Ima reccomend stop using youtuber builds, they're builds that those players personally vibe with and focus on, it may just be not your build and if you can't get all the stuff for it then I'd say run something else entirely, Iron bear builds are pretty easy to make and use
@@THERATSANDTHERATS exactly, there’s so much build diversity in this game that if for some reason you can’t get one god roll weapon to drop, I guarantee in that time you’ve probably come across other pieces of gear that would make your same character op if you went for a different build. Sometimes you have to build around what drops vs building around the idea of a drop happening for you; I’d still take that over only having a few viable builds/items to choose from
WAIT REDUX IS ON BL3!? it took years to add it to tps and its already on 3 yoooo thanks for this information. i loved reborn and redux on 2 and tps imma love this
The graphics were nice, the little QOL improvements and the lower damage numbers, everything else sucked, from UI to general story that was so bad it made the game unreplayable to me. Bought it, finished ONCE and never touched it again since launch, on other note I can replay BL2 an infinite amount of times no problem, even Pre Sequel was nice compared to this dumpster fire
if i was a first time customer i probably wouldv'e been okay with playing it and enjoying it, but my love for borderlands and especially 2 just made me feel like a sibling to borderlands after playing 3, I love ya but god damn you annoy me with your decisions sometimes, i had to give it another go though i felt the same with tps and i love that game now, still waiting on that moment though.
@@LFXGaming See, I wouldn't have. If I was a first time customer about an hour of Tyreen and her brother would have made me quit. I stayed because it was Borderlands and I enjoy that gameplay.
this has some solid points but a ton of it is very opinion based, like yes, amara doesn't get leeched, but come on, imagine you had your very first play through, encountering Troy's battle and then getting you're ENTIRE build deleted. not very cool
nah i saw the reviews for it and whilst i have bought everything borderlands so far i just couldnt bring myself to buy it, maybe ill pick it up when its on sale cant judge too much til ive played
I think there is one way to "save" ava's character Make her main antagonist in next game, people hate her to the point that they will be happy to be able to turn her into bullet sponge
No your right. The story does not make sense. Not for Brick, Mordecai and Tina not even saying Lilith hi what have you been up to. Maya especially was a big f u to the community so what was the point getting Maya to lv 80 or up in borderlands 2. Against a boy mind you that just by touching her arm and leeching her. He's like wait I can do that BS! Maya a professional hand to hand combat, a sirin and a weapons expert lost to a boy because the devs said so, WHAT!!! All because of a dumb girl told to stay on the ship, how did, Ava getting off the ship, get the info where the city is, where the location of the damn vault was. Did anyone on the ship was watching her and she got a badass vault hunter killed while we the players just watch what is happening and can't do nothing about it😡 good writing gearbox. And giving Ava a small dlc just we the community start to like her no! The story had a lot of loop holes not to mention giving Patricia Tannis sirin power from Angel does not make any sense at why!! In the end story dumb.
You have the farm weapon in Destiny to get stats want like in Borderlands 2 to get manufacturer Parts you want over and over and over and over because you want that God roll You do not NEED them to be God rolls
Point 1: You weren't talking about annointments. You were talking about weapon parts. It's the weapon parts that affect the base stats of the guns. It's always been the weapon parts. Annointments are the things on the bottom of the card that make the weapons more effective under certain circumstances. Point 2: The story removed player agency. That has always been a complaint. Point 3: Did you know there were different tiers of legendary weapons in the original Borderlands? Yup, they ranged from bright light yellow to a much deeper yellow. The deeper the yellow, the more rare the legendary weapon was. Point 4: The UI. Point and click vs press a button several times. Sure, there's lag, but I've found lag on both input devices. The problem is the UI itself. Point 5: The reason Ava seemed so unlikable was the fact that she was a teenager. More than a few people forgot how they acted as teenagers, and the ones that do, hated themselves for it.
I hate the she's a teenager excuse, are we supposed to like her or are we supposed to not because she's a bitchy teen? Because the game acts like we're supposed to like her but she's ava so no one likes her
@@badasscrusader I think the real reason no one really likes her, and the game expects us to is because of how she got what she got. Maya was a beloved character. Ava doesn't hold a candle to Maya. Now, I realize that might go against what I said earlier, but she seems to be the typical teen, but the damage is far worse.
The "writers" for Borderlands 3 collectively had written for like 6 different highly obscure things that nobody has probably heard of, they were not qualified in the slightest to be anywhere near a franchise like Borderlands.
Things bo3 did good and bad Good: Fast travel More customization Lotta guns CARS LOTTA FUCKOn CARS Zane Sanctuary III Space Zane Krieg and bounty of blood DLC Dahl Zane shirtless skin More use to erridium Satisfying hit sounds Satisfying guns Sliding VH's have voice lines Bad: Story Characters (except Zane) Claptrap va change Talk to Lilith Too many planets Filler missions Zane (jk) No 5th & 6th VH Annointments Forgettable characters (not Zane god that man is hot) Previous VH barely did anything (including zero and Maya) No Zane porno :(
Point three: pearls absolutely SHOULD have returned.
Point four: the UI on mouse and Keyboard is HORRIBLE. On controller is amazing. Weird that they never figured that one out.
i get why they didn't though, anything would have been good for end game loot farming
i noticed this heavily after i used a controller for a month, its so weird but its a lot better than the lag at launch,
thanks for checking this video out and commenting btw, really appreciate the constructive criticism!! and honestly trying not to fanboy lmao been watching you for like 6 years ahaha keep up the amazing content lad
Ps you can re roll annoits
I can't deal with the graphics, my prescription is already whack, and the graphics change and tiny ui just throws me off.
Bl3 has poop jokes and ignorant meta commentary
18:28 bruh I couldn't agree more. I think Ava killed the story. I was legit getting into the story until Maya died, and then i suddenly just didn't care. The worst part was Ava blaming everyone but herself for getting Maya killed.
Honestly they should make a Vault that revives people, and just bring Maya back
But you need to sacrifice a siren : Ava.
@@LowinBayrod seems like a good idea
@@LowinBayrod so we trade garbage for gold?? I'm game
Its kinda dumb how Tyreen makes Husks is just kind of. Throw away dialogue, literally just
“Oh yeah its a thing i do”
@@friccle_ literally just fancy skag piles. There could've been so much more to that
Early on in BL3, I thought the brother was going to be the mastermind of the story.
Even then in BL2s defence, Jack only needed a siren and Lilith jumped at him. BL3 has no excuse.
Ill even add in that lillith by BL2 was considered the most powerful siren as we can see she phases a whole fucking flying town and in borderlands 3 can do a lot with her powers he was right jn taking her instead of maya sure maya is a threat but lillith could've proven to be even a grester threat as she honed in her power to get to jack faster if he had taken maya he wouldn't have had enough time with maya once they knew where the vault was but in BL3 when maya dies its just ava and her yet you're not even there i feel like the cut scene should've played while inside the vault getting the erdiam smasher that way it'll justify her death more but no right as you leave thats when she dies bullshit
also it was implied that lilith would be a problem beforehand, whereas with maya she's shown to be nothing but competent
I really actually like bl3, theres just the little things that ruin it:
-Vault hunters being invisible, -How Maya's death is handled -The troy betrayal that goes nowhere -Aurelia's betrayal -Tannis being a siren -Vaughn being written poorly -Not explaining why all the raiders seemingly disbanded to do their own things -Tyreens motivation -Ava
I think you forgot all the planets… should have had 3 planets with more interactive maps since they added ledge grabbing
I think you forgot the entire game being a dumpster fire
No plot, no characters nor development, and derivative writing.
Been saying this since it came out. He was just a better villain. He was relatable.
I have said this exactly. Troy. Should’ve. Been. The. Final. Boss.
Unironically the only time I felt like I was in the story was when the general truant dude was like “you killed my little brother” or whatever lol
Also, on the anointment topic, I absolutely agree.
Truant: "You killed my brother!"
VH: "Do you have even the slightest idea how little that narrows it down?"
@@nathanhendrickson790 u are illiterate
Everyone always appreciates a RUclipsr who appreciates critiques and it’s nice that you went through a long comment on a week old video 👍
Edit: I do also feel the weird space in bl3 cutscenes that does feel different than bl2, but when I also went back and played bl2 I was surprised to find how often I now felt similarly with these cutscenes as I did in bl3; I personally believed it may be because bl3 brings it more to our attention by trapping us or us directly being spoken to and looked at while we stayed motionless.
Shredifier gang 💯💯💯
6:32 so basically it’s the difference between watching a bad guy take both of your friend’s knee caps even though you can easily save him.
And the same bad guy taking your friend’s knee caps, but he legit forgot you were even in the same room as him. And he REFUSES to acknowledge your existence till after he’s done with your friend.
Makes me glad, i quit after they killed Maya and my character stood around like a jackass while my wiafu died
if krieg was there bro the story would've been over real quick fr
@@LFXGaming kreig would proceed to rip troy's robotic arm off then beat him to death with it and then beat tyreen to death with troy's arm
crazy earl has an annointment reroll machine straight across from the vending machine in front of his door. there you can spend all that worthless erridium to reroll the annoints on your gear.
in borderlands 2 if you listen to jack and angel's echolog about mya, it explains that for what ever reason erridium has zero effect on mya, thus useless to jack for charging the vault key, where as both angel and Lilith both are effected by it.
i'd say the main problem with ava is she never really takes responsibility or grows as a character.
Pearl rarities should have honestly just been the gun's god rolls. Like... Tada, you just got the best version of this legendary time with some extra silly fanfare attached to it or something.
borderlands one had a feature like that where if you got the perfect legendary it would be a darker orange. good idea though still!
Imo I really like Borderlands 2 UI better. I like getting a good view of my character, while seeing the menu
This is just my own opinion and kinda how I approached borderlands 2:
First time through (and mayyybe 1 or 2 playthroughs afterwards) I paid attention to the story and dialogue; got a kick out of some of it.
@@nathanhendrickson790 thanks. I will give it a shot once I've finished the two games I'm currently plaing.
I wish they expanded on troys phase lock ability. That cutscene where he phase locked you was amazing. They should have done way more with scenes like this.
I like the anointments it's an extra challenge. What I don't like is the fact that there are no different visible weapon parts.
huh? bl3 weapons do have different visible weapon parts you can even view them in your backpack lol
Farming anointments feels sort of like farming for parts in bl2. It honestly might be better because you can reroll anointments when you can’t in bl2
I also think they got dlc incredibly right, of the 3 I've played they're all fun as hell and I like how many enemies there are but I feel like some main characters were dumbed down, I liked marcus in the old games but god I hate him so much in bl3 he's just annoying
i swear even pre sequel makes it about YOUR character (unless thats just for dlc characters/timothy)
You must be confused, there has never been a borderlands 3
@danse en rouge ANOTHER GAME?! guess not, must have been the wind
Honestly, Borderlands 3 felt like it was made by children in some way. "MY CHAWACTEW WILL BECOME GWOD!!!!"
The stakes are so cartoonishly high they mean absolutely nothing? Tyreen and Troy want to become God. Okay, so they want power. What for? What's their end goal? Beliefs? "THEYWE STWEAMEWS... THOSE AWE EVIL!!!!" that and their parents didn't want them to leave a planet to protect them.
And even then, Tyreen succeeds in becoming "God", and to paraphrase Tannis, "What is God if not the most powerful being in the universe"
So, we kill "God"... Are WE the most powerful beings or what? What was the whole point? What was I meant to get out of it...?
There's also the obvious braindead writing. In all these years, no corporation decided to just nuke two bandits out of orbit? Not even to try and fight them? (The Behind the scenes had anti-cult ads from the corporations, so I'm guessing something went really bad during development.)
No one found the Vault Map?
We open multiple vaults (Not to mention that in the New Tales [my god, what a nightmare of a "game"] there's a third Vault in promethea that random citizens find by just... walking around in the sewers.)
The fact it's so trivial completely ruins it. Not to mention that Tales from the Borderlands and The Pre-Sequel had set up a lot of intrigue for the franchise, before we got these new writers. (Too bad both of them got partly retconned [Like Aurelia, Vaughn and Rhys' characters being rewritten, the ending of TPS and Tales being completely ignored and erased, and other little things)
I honestly would be WAY more interested for a Borderlands taking place during the Corporate Wars and the downfall of the "Central government" than 50 vaults and scientists recreating the power of the (supposedly super rare and mysterious) Sirens.
My only explanation is that the chest Rhys and Fiona found has the ability to show really crappy non-canon alternate realities, and that's all 3 and New Tales is.
Then they join the Watcher and the other living Vault Hunters from TPS, 1 and 2 and await whatever is to come.
I think a GPS on the mini map would be a better addition than making the maps smaller.
hud has a lot of problems in bl2, theres this unintentional equipping of a weapon into a neighboring slot and equipping another grenade instead of leaving the slot empty, weird mouse wheel inversion that you have to fix by reopening inventory, cant invest skill points into left or right tree when you display all three at once. Putting the backpack inventory next to hotbar saves one mouse click in bl3 compared to bl2.
if you wanna blame anyone for how 3 handles anoints and "godroll" farming, blame Joltz for farming a quest redemption screen 230+ times for a "godroll" relic in his BL2 streams
of *Green Rarity*
Do you not know that you can re-roll anointments? You don't have to farm the legendary multiple times. Though it is pretty expensive, 250 eridium per re-roll.
Seeing how the new Tales game is literal trash in writing I think it's safe to say that they should probably get a better writing team already.
I like the idea of rebooting after BL2 and not even count BL3 as cannon no hammerlock and Jacob's B.S. and all that Maya and Ava crap.
i hope we wake up in bl4 and it was just a bad krieg fever dream
i have no idea why in the cutscenes why all 4 player hunters arent there all 4 are canonically there such as 1 and 2 i get for the regular boss fights but the pre rendered ones absolutely should have all 4 referenced
Plot twist: Borderlands 3 is anti-vault hunter propaganda created by Jack to show that they can’t protect the galaxy without large-scale war and casualties
You hate on the save editor until it saves you from a broken quest
The UI is annoying for me because for the first time in the series I can't use number keys as shortcuts to menus.
“I might just stick to just playing the games to have fun” lol like…what? What were you playing it for before?
i meant just for the fun, as in i play each game heavily for the stories and without that i can only play for fun instead of both playing for the story and the fun gameplay :)
I really hate how it doesn’t split the weapon types in the ui after u sort them by type 😂 just a gap that’s it don’t have any other problems with the game I love it
"going back' dude says like he doesn't play borderlands every waking moment of his life lmaooo
- Complains about having to farm for a god roll legendary and how mind numbing it can be
- Asks for a new ultra-rare rarity with very low drop chance.
You do know you can reroll annointments I assume? Besides, in BL2 even a DPUH could still be farmed to get the god roll parts.
And if you play with cartel event, you have no problem with farming eridium
The UI still lags, the performance on NEXT GEN console is horrible are two things off the top of my head they never fixed
The hunt for loot is the fun, BIS is where the fun begins to die, we dont like to think about it but it's true
My head cannon is that you as a siren arnt worth it to them where as Lilith and maya are legends and you are a nobody basically. Also they froze you in place for the cutscenes to torture you as to say your so weak you couldn’t even resist my night and save your friends.
When I farm for a gun in bl3 and I finally get it there's a feeling of finally its over then I use it and its just not as good as it should be
the point about amara being in danger of leeching is very unfair, why didn't jack take maya to charge the vault key?
Because jack didn't have teleportation and the ability phaselock
I don't get the story complaints.
Was there any story I should've cared about in any Borderlands game? Apart from Jack and (sometimes) Torgue, the characters are just meat.
Monarch, you realize that you're supposed to ads with it. Like, that's also where a big chunk of dmg comes from my guy.
Great video but you missed 1 thing. They should’ve added dlc characters!!!
Seraph should still be around. There are raid bosses
you mean the guardians with blades on their arms?
I would genuinely take a new looter IP warts and all over watching the progressive soupification of the series and it's characters. The best part about stories is that they are preserved by them ENDING.
Hard disagree on UI being seemless or in any way good in BL2. You have to scroll it like a mad man cause there is a lot of dead space on the screen, gun selection is fimmicky and buggy exactly in ways you describe it for BL3 and i think about it ALL the time using it
That's my expercience with it at least, across both BL2 and Presequel and /multiple/ laptops and PCS
Its an interactive disney+ show, i swear. I dont even bother paying attetion to the story like i did with bl2. Im not mad, just disappointed
As amara , ennemies often call you a fake siren . Might explain why the calypso don't aknowledge her
i had a theory it was because the Calypsos brainwash their followers into thinking that they are the only sirens and that every other siren are "fake sirens" and trying to imitate their "god like form". it makes sense if there are others just as powerful as you you just scold them as fake to keep the followers worshipping you and not them.
I agree. Map, UI, Rarity all fucked.
It was a waste of my money including a season pass.
fuck battle passes
I agree with some of this. But it sounds like you are either not as experienced with BL as you claim, or you didn't really understand the games that well. Not trying to be rude, but your "what's a raid boss" comment made me question your whole take.
Agree
i was referring to how exciting the game used to feel as a kid, first jumping into BL2 as a 12 yr old in 2013 i didn't know anything about the game, and after completing the story twice i still hadn't heard of a "raid boss" before and hadn't bought the captain scarlet DLC yet, when i thought i was the shit for ages having lots of legendaries and my friend told me i wasnt even close to seeing all the games content i was so excited and intrigued by how i didnt know any of this. it was just highlighting how special moments like that used to feel in borderlands, and now as an adult it doesnt hit as hard :(
@@LFXGaming well, that's more of being an adult problem rather than the game's problem.
@@LFXGaming so it’s an issue with borderlands 3 because you have nostalgia for 2?
in BL1, BL2, and BL:TPS, the raid bosses (with a single exception) cannot be accessed until youve completed their respective area's story content, and even then they can be quite lut of the way once youve unlocked them
point is, no shit someone 2 seconds past beating the game for the first time isnt going to know what a raid boss is numpty
I dont mind the story, its very easy for me to ignore as i shoot anything with a red health bar
@@LFXGaming Re-Volter*.
@@THERATSANDTHERATS exactly, there’s so much build diversity in this game that if for some reason you can’t get one god roll weapon to drop, I guarantee in that time you’ve probably come across other pieces of gear that would make your same character op if you went for a different build.
Sometimes you have to build around what drops vs building around the idea of a drop happening for you; I’d still take that over only having a few viable builds/items to choose from
@@a.grimes4202 damn autocorrect! :0
I think it’s funny that the only music used is from bl2, not bl3
Also, tundra fight music SLAPS like bro
“Bwewawemap-mwap’map, Bwewawemap-mwap’map” and
“Bow-diduwbobo” best music ever
New! Tales is canon?
Dude, play borderlands 3 redux. You'd love it. No anointments, added rarities of weapons, lots of raid bosses
WAIT REDUX IS ON BL3!? it took years to add it to tps and its already on 3 yoooo thanks for this information. i loved reborn and redux on 2 and tps imma love this
i only have map issues on the entirety of Eden-6 and the first area of Pandora (The Droughts?)
this video deserves more views!!! I agree with everything.
thank you man really appreciate it, nice cat btw
You can re roll annointments on weapons
There is an unkept Harold in borderlands 3?
Couldn't agree more
Have you played Tiny Tina's Wonderlands? I heard that the base game is an improvment from BL3 but the DLCs are a fucking scam
nah i saw the reviews for it and whilst i have bought everything borderlands so far i just couldnt bring myself to buy it, maybe ill pick it up when its on sale cant judge too much til ive played
I think there is one way to "save" ava's character
Make her main antagonist in next game, people hate her to the point that they will be happy to be able to turn her into bullet sponge
Or make Bl4 open with Claptrap reading a fan fiction and because of how crap it is he is thrown out of sanctuary and dies.
Borderlands 4 is gonna have time travel.
You know you can reroll the anointment right?
What are you even talking about anointments being a destiny mechanic?
You have the farm weapon in Destiny to get stats want like in Borderlands 2 to get manufacturer Parts you want over and over and over and over because you want that God roll
You do not NEED them to be God rolls
