If you ever try and do this again, or just in general for future playthroughs Lilith's cult following quest line ends in a legendary shield despite the fact it shows a purple shield reward
And that shield is great, and can over-perform its level fairly decently if you like to get in close and are fighting flesh enemies like bandits or animals!
The mission is incredibly hard because of the first mission in the line which forces you to have a fire weapon which the only two available to my knowledge are the infinity pistol and the emperor which are hard to get in fire and are bad guns. The next best is the baby maker which is also not easy to get in fire.

I completely understand this because I started playing when I was 8, and it's a bit embarrassing, but my dad and I always said "bad butt" instead. Reading this also brought back all of those great times and got me to do another run with him recently.

I've made 100s of new characters and most of them I got through the uvhm playthrough and I've never seen it once. Maybe I'm just unlucky
@@xdfishtsu he definitely does drop it but you’d have better luck farming a perfect part dpuh from savage lee, about 5k hours and I’ve gotten to drop maybe once or twice, never really went out of my way for it because I couldn’t be asked to farm a mid legendary for hours on end
I swear your luck in this game is incredible. No BS, when I did a brand new run recently, I only seen one legendary the entire time and that included far more grinding that this video. Even back in the 360/PS3 days, I rarely ever seen legendaries
Pretty good video. Game audio seemed a bit low, and the silence between during some sections were strange but overall very well edited. I recommend learning the dedicated legendary drop locations first if you continue into TVHM or do another legendary challenge run, it makes things easier if you know exactly what weapons/grenades/shields you want to farm for a playthrough. Also it would be cool to see you do all of the DLCs legendary only if you wanted to make this into a series.

ive been playing bl2 for a bit recently, and have only gotten one legendary. some electric elemental grenade called the storm front. and, im not gonna sugarcoat it, it took 3 grenades and 3 sniper bullets to kill wilhelm. you killed him faster though, great video!
Loved the video, look forward to more! For future runs a potential fix to the crashing issue is to turn off the ultra HD textures in the DLC menu, used to crash constantly but in the 30-40 hours or so after turning it off I have yet to crash a single time since, hope this helps!
To fix the crashes, you could try disabling physX and/or the ultra HD texture pack, it worked for me at least. Awesome video btw, it's nice to finally see someone trying a different route without any DLCs!
Thanks for the tip! I heard that from another source as well, but I like physX and the texture pack, however, I will disable them if it becomes a big problem.
Having too much FPS makes PhysX very buggy usually resulting in overflows and engine crashes apparently having above 90+ FPS makes this much more common @@LookIntoGaming
I think you are the only BL2 youtuber that uses physx on high. Unfortunately it's notoriously buggy, I think especially if you don't have Nvidia hardware
Maya was my favorite vault hunter. You can phaselock from across the whole map. And you can lock basically anything that’s not a vehicle or a turret or giant. Also I’m surprised you didn’t do the hunter helquist farm
Something to note towards the end of the video, when you kill Warrior for the first time via Moonshot Cannon (So just the story mode kill), it has a 75% chance to drop a legendary in it's pool, otherwise it's a 25% chance. Outside of that, most enemies (including warrior) have a 10% drop rate for their specific legendaries/heads, which are then split evenly between however many items that enemy has in it's dedicated pool, which can explain why for enemies such as King Mong, you had a dry streak of 14 runs. Overall, awesome video, would love to see you do another one for maybe a different borderlands game!!
Yeah, and most drops in BL2 are 5%, but in total, this was my luckiest run ever! And I have other parts of this same challenge in BL:TPS and BL3. I'm now working on the second part of the BL3 video, and I'm super excited to finish it!
I believe you have Physx effects on high, which is probably a major factor in your crashing. I think if you turned it off you'd notice significantly less crashes playing
i recently finished playing bl2 with only legendary guns and had insane luck off the bat. i got a legendary pistol off of knuckle dragger after 4-5 attempts, got the legendary from both midgemong and boom bewm 1st try. I kept the pistol til the end of the game (in sanctuarys safe) and killed handsome jack with it
Solid video, great voice. Solid 1st and 2nd monitor video (1st monitor if one wants to see stuff, 2nd monitor video if one just wants something solid to listen to in the background of a gaming session). Only thing I'd say could "amp up" this, would've been some type of low music playing during the silent parts, or maybe a bit more boosted game volume at those parts :D
I agree with the music part, this was my first video of this type, and I wanted to see how it would do. But for future runs, I will find some copyright-free background music that actually sounds good.

There is a ton of modded gameplay, but a lot of it is streamed on Twitch. I plan to make a modded run sometime, I'm just not sure what mods I will use.
In my opinion you should be forced to use legendary class mod if you're going to see how difficult it is with only legendaries because that makes sense to me
4:06 one of the biggest disappointments in life for me was learning you can't make that grenade jump, until you get in the car there's an invisible wall
Now knowing that people love this type and style of video, I have more runs like this planned. Some similar legendary only runs for other Borderlands games, and potentially cool challenges in other games.
My man learned about cloud kill a decade late. This video just reminded me of how much fun I had of bl2 my first playthrough. Bl3 has better gameplay and quality of life stuff, but there was so much magic in bl2 my first playthrough
Maya is my second least-played VH, and I agree that BL3 is better for gameplay and guns, but BL2 is what I grew up on, so it will always be my favorite.
True, level does matter, but it's still busted. I played 4 player coop with a few of my mates, and one was running maya. She's carried all 4 of us through the thousand cuts and control core even when we were 2 levels under (and had skulls over half enemies in normal mode). Cloud kill is insanely strong
Anything that can counter PWR and BUL Loaders is insanely strong. I know that the enemies' level isn't really visible, but most of the enemies in Hero's Pass are level 31-33 and The Warrior and Jack were lvl 32.
careful about using the vault hunters relic! it increases rare drop chances, which is true, but only blue and purple rarity. If I remember correctly it can actually lower your drop chances for legendaries on certain boss fights!
General consensus as far as I’m aware is that it only slight lowers the chance of getting common items and slightly increases getting rare. I have not read anything about it affecting epics or legendaries
yeah I think you're right, I don't remember where I heard that it can lower legendary chance but I've been trying to find it. Can't find the same information now, so I probably remember incorrectly!
After seeing how much everybody likes this kind of video, I definitely will make more challenge run videos! I have a lot of interesting ideas for both Borderlands games and a bunch of other games you guys might like!
This kinda challenge run might actually be a challenge for me to do on Sal. No other challenges I've tried as Salvador have actually been that challenging.
Imagine if every enemy TYPE has a dedicated legendary. Like every bandit could drop a gub, every nomad could drop a badaboom, every bruiser could drop a blacl hole shield, etc. Thatd be pretty cool.
That is definitely a cool idea, but that would make farming some items annoying because you would need to kill a specific type of enemy in a spawn pool of a bunch of different enemy types.

Ez all u have to do is play sal and use double norfleet and badabooms and then the sham with the legendary berserker com and there u go challenge complete. All legendary items and there’s no point of a grenade if ur playing rocket jumping sal. And obv u can’t use relics during this challenge.
Yea but i am pretty sure you need a fire weapon for it, bc of the missions. (Idk how well the fast ball will carry) so unless you have the logans gun or world drop, it is pretty much impossible to be useful for the run

It doesn’t do that at all. The relic just straight up takes 5% from the common rate and gives it to rares (blues). It does jackshit for all other rarities

This was my first challenge run, and thinking about it now, I guess it was blind. I was only going off the farms I remember, and some enemies (like Badmaw) that I think might have drops.
@@LookIntoGaming Yeah, I saw that, Bad-Maw has no legendary drops, and also farming Saturn and Bunker isn’t something that I’d recommend, considering that both of them have some of the lowest legendary drop rates in the game. But the lack of planning made for some good content too, definitely added some tension in places and added some comedy in others.
Vault hunter's relic doesn't increase you legendary drop rate it just increase how often you get Rares and from my experience it makes it slightly less likely to get all other rarities not just commons.

I never even knew that Boll dropped it, it was just farming him to see what he dropped. Either way the Fastball was extremely fun to use, especially against nomads.
At first I thought this would be too easy (because of white/grey weapons being so common, meaning I always have one at my level), but I might have a cursed idea for a run like this.
these challenge videos are how I get my encouragment to continue playing borderlands 2 (I got it on my first computer recently from steam so I have to start from scratch trying to 100% it)
100%ing BL2 and the other Borderlands games is one of my future goals, once I run out of my best challenge ideas, the only issue is I suck at the game, so raid bosses and OP levels will be interesting to learn.
I've played it for around 9-10 years, but most of that was with my dad, and we only did normal mode playthroughs, some of the dlcs, and rarely a TVHM playthrough. I have gotten halfway through a UVHM solo run, which I really need to get back to, but I really want to get to OP levels in the future.
I used to play a lot with my brother and cousins but my cousins stopped playing and me and my brother only play like 1 time every few months for a few hours so I'm basically the Lone hero after the team fell apart @@LookIntoGaming
I should have mentioned in the video why I didn't go for that: you need a fire weapon to finish the mission line (as far as I remember), and so I only wanted to do that mission line as a last resort, because I didn't want to waste even more time farming an incendiary legendary.
Thinking about it now, igniting the effigies is possible with Maya's 'immolate' skill while she's in fight for your life, but otherwise you need a fire weapon to ignite them, that's why I wanted this mission as a last resort. Oh yeah there's also one effigy you need to shoot, you can't reach it.
It also doesn't do what you think it does, apparently. It reduces the chance of white rarity items, thereby boosting the chance of every other rarity. It's not amazing, but it's not like they're going to get a legendary relic during the run, so why not?
Not gonna lie man, you did blow my mind there when you revealed that Lilith, Tannis, Scarlett and Ritsuko are all the same person. I don't know if it's just me but I never made the connection
I really like seeing who voices what characters in games and anime, so I have a pretty good knowledge base of this stuff. And I think I'm the odd one out for being able to recognize voices in different series. (Most of it is from having looked up the VAs, but I've had my moments recognizing people.)
The BL series has a ton of good VAs, and Gaige's VA also voices V in Cyberpunk and Irelia in League (and probably some others I haven't checked in a while).
Considering you have less than 1k subscribers the quality is surprising! I looked at subs after the video and thought I was watching a youtuber with 1m subs. Honestly just keep uploading stuff you have fun doing and I personally think you'll go far! Good work and you got an extra sub from me :)

A cool run would be if u have 1 of each certain weapon you want lock them in but I have to farm that drop from its certain loot drop no bar I did this for pre bl2 and 3 was super fun I added a mix up by having to build those wepons specifically for a certain tree
It is funny how just a random bandit dropped a legendary shield, I played thousands of hours in Borderlands 2 and never seen a legendary from normal enemy

@@LookIntoGamingwell the chance of a world drop is .01%, or 1/10,000. divide that by (the amount of world droppable shields)/(the amount of world droppable items) to get the chance of a shield. probably about 1/100,000 or 50x rarer than 0.05%
You need a fire weapon to get the Flame of the Firehawk. In a perfect run if I had a fire weapon, I would go get it. However, my luck paid out with the transformer from that bandit, so I didn't have to farm for a fire weapon.
A ton of video game and anime characters have the same voice actors, and it's pretty neat when you notice certain characters that sound the same and end up having the same VA.
Maya is unique choice i personally wouldve chose zero because hes mostly about melee and bore but since you havent played her in years its understandable
Well if you play for too long the PC version, you either crash to PhysX or a memory overload (because of poor coding). I have never really had crashing problems on console.
yes and the run could get actually challenging in uvhm since there most builds and playthroughs rely on moxxie weapons which are all not legendary if i am not mistaken
1: That's certainly one way to level up a goliath. I've never thought about doing it in The Dust. 2: Now I wonder if enemies killed by the crusher drop anything at all.

You don't get the Bee until pretty deep into the game and you have to beat the game to beat Warrior for the Conference Call. Harold goated though
You'll just have Unkempt Harold for 99% of the run. Also good luck doing UVHM without a grog, especially OP10.

I did 6 playthroughs overall (baby numbers i know) and for some reason i got the infinity on first kill in 5 of them.
I found the hardest part in my playthrough was setting the bandits on fire without a fire weapon in the flame of the firehawk quest line.
If you shoot the snow man in the head it has a tinder box so you can do ot

I’ve never really farmed legendaries just grind the game and then after I got to Ultimate Vault Hunter I focused on achievements.

There is a ton of modded gameplay, but a lot of it is streamed on Twitch. I plan to make a modded run sometime, I'm just not sure what mods I will use.

In my opinion you should be forced to use legendary class mod if you're going to see how difficult it is with only legendaries because that makes sense to me
I agree, especially considering that I didn't get much of a bonus from the normal class mods, so I will be doing this in future runs.
4:06 one of the biggest disappointments in life for me was learning you can't make that grenade jump, until you get in the car there's an invisible wall
Interesting. I thought I heard it was possible with a very precise double grenade jump, but I guess using vehicles is inevitable.

Now knowing that people love this type and style of video, I have more runs like this planned. Some similar legendary only runs for other Borderlands games, and potentially cool challenges in other games.
My man learned about cloud kill a decade late. This video just reminded me of how much fun I had of bl2 my first playthrough. Bl3 has better gameplay and quality of life stuff, but there was so much magic in bl2 my first playthrough
Maya is my second least-played VH, and I agree that BL3 is better for gameplay and guns, but BL2 is what I grew up on, so it will always be my favorite.
You make out cloudkill to be broken af but I'm pretty sure it's damage scales with your level and you were very overleveled u know
True, level does matter, but it's still busted. I played 4 player coop with a few of my mates, and one was running maya. She's carried all 4 of us through the thousand cuts and control core even when we were 2 levels under (and had skulls over half enemies in normal mode). Cloud kill is insanely strong
@@AlexeyBeganov yea I agree it is insanely strong I was 4 levels underleveled and when I unlocked it loaders specifically were not much of a problem
Anything that can counter PWR and BUL Loaders is insanely strong. I know that the enemies' level isn't really visible, but most of the enemies in Hero's Pass are level 31-33 and The Warrior and Jack were lvl 32.

careful about using the vault hunters relic! it increases rare drop chances, which is true, but only blue and purple rarity. If I remember correctly it can actually lower your drop chances for legendaries on certain boss fights!
Except the percentage is such a low value it’s laughable, and does not lower legendary chance.

General consensus as far as I’m aware is that it only slight lowers the chance of getting common items and slightly increases getting rare. I have not read anything about it affecting epics or legendaries
yeah I think you're right, I don't remember where I heard that it can lower legendary chance but I've been trying to find it. Can't find the same information now, so I probably remember incorrectly!

This kinda challenge run might actually be a challenge for me to do on Sal. No other challenges I've tried as Salvador have actually been that challenging.
The grenade jump you tried to make around 4:00 requires a double grenade jump to make but if you do that its not too difficult

Imagine if every enemy TYPE has a dedicated legendary. Like every bandit could drop a gub, every nomad could drop a badaboom, every bruiser could drop a blacl hole shield, etc. Thatd be pretty cool.
That is definitely a cool idea, but that would make farming some items annoying because you would need to kill a specific type of enemy in a spawn pool of a bunch of different enemy types.

not exactly he farms a bit but rarely farms anything specific to defeat the next challenge just some random legendary stuff, also the rules are pretty lenient in the beginning were he does use a non legendary classmod also there is a legendary relic in the game so using a blue relic that basically doesn't do much ain't all that bad but its not like there wouldn't be a relic to eventually farm for

Ez all u have to do is play sal and use double norfleet and badabooms and then the sham with the legendary berserker com and there u go challenge complete. All legendary items and there’s no point of a grenade if ur playing rocket jumping sal. And obv u can’t use relics during this challenge.
Btw you can get a legendary shield right after getting lilith back.
Yea but i am pretty sure you need a fire weapon for it, bc of the missions. (Idk how well the fast ball will carry) so unless you have the logans gun or world drop, it is pretty much impossible to be useful for the run

If im not mistaken they lowered some drop rates in 2 and tps which sucks cuz getting legendaries in tps is a pain in the ass its even worse then bl1
The Relic only reduces the chances of getting comon drops, not more legendaries.

It doesn’t do that at all. The relic just straight up takes 5% from the common rate and gives it to rares (blues). It does jackshit for all other rarities

remember to turn PhysX off to avoid unnecessary crashes
The issue is that I love PhysX. I have learnt to turn it off for longer / more important maps, or if I'm playing a character with a ton of slag.

Honestly, respect for doing this run fairly blind, it resulted in some interesting strategies.
This was my first challenge run, and thinking about it now, I guess it was blind. I was only going off the farms I remember, and some enemies (like Badmaw) that I think might have drops.
@@LookIntoGaming Yeah, I saw that, Bad-Maw has no legendary drops, and also farming Saturn and Bunker isn’t something that I’d recommend, considering that both of them have some of the lowest legendary drop rates in the game. But the lack of planning made for some good content too, definitely added some tension in places and added some comedy in others.
Vault hunter's relic doesn't increase you legendary drop rate it just increase how often you get Rares and from my experience it makes it slightly less likely to get all other rarities not just commons.

I never even knew that Boll dropped it, it was just farming him to see what he dropped. Either way the Fastball was extremely fun to use, especially against nomads.

At first I thought this would be too easy (because of white/grey weapons being so common, meaning I always have one at my level), but I might have a cursed idea for a run like this.
these challenge videos are how I get my encouragment to continue playing borderlands 2 (I got it on my first computer recently from steam so I have to start from scratch trying to 100% it)
100%ing BL2 and the other Borderlands games is one of my future goals, once I run out of my best challenge ideas, the only issue is I suck at the game, so raid bosses and OP levels will be interesting to learn.

I've played it for around 9-10 years, but most of that was with my dad, and we only did normal mode playthroughs, some of the dlcs, and rarely a TVHM playthrough. I have gotten halfway through a UVHM solo run, which I really need to get back to, but I really want to get to OP levels in the future.
I used to play a lot with my brother and cousins but my cousins stopped playing and me and my brother only play like 1 time every few months for a few hours so I'm basically the Lone hero after the team fell apart @@LookIntoGaming
Just wondering did you forget about the flame of the firehawk for an early shield?
I should have mentioned in the video why I didn't go for that: you need a fire weapon to finish the mission line (as far as I remember), and so I only wanted to do that mission line as a last resort, because I didn't want to waste even more time farming an incendiary legendary.

Thinking about it now, igniting the effigies is possible with Maya's 'immolate' skill while she's in fight for your life, but otherwise you need a fire weapon to ignite them, that's why I wanted this mission as a last resort. Oh yeah there's also one effigy you need to shoot, you can't reach it.

Exactly, that relic only gives you a higher chance at Blue rarity
It lowers the white and greens out of the loot pools actually. Theoretically making blues purple and oranges drop at a higher rate.
It also doesn't do what you think it does, apparently. It reduces the chance of white rarity items, thereby boosting the chance of every other rarity. It's not amazing, but it's not like they're going to get a legendary relic during the run, so why not?

I really like seeing who voices what characters in games and anime, so I have a pretty good knowledge base of this stuff. And I think I'm the odd one out for being able to recognize voices in different series. (Most of it is from having looked up the VAs, but I've had my moments recognizing people.)

The BL series has a ton of good VAs, and Gaige's VA also voices V in Cyberpunk and Irelia in League (and probably some others I haven't checked in a while).
Every boss has a chance to drop a legendary they just don't always have a there own legendary
man this makes you really wonder why so many of the early legendary farms are all pistols
Maya being balanced my butt she is a siren and can phaselock enemies to make it easy to kill them a maxed out phase lock build is pure evil

A cool run would be if u have 1 of each certain weapon you want lock them in but I have to farm that drop from its certain loot drop no bar I did this for pre bl2 and 3 was super fun I added a mix up by having to build those wepons specifically for a certain tree

This was easily my luckiest run ever, that transformer saved the run, and me from having to farm a fire legendary to get the Flame of the Firehawk.
It is funny how just a random bandit dropped a legendary shield, I played thousands of hours in Borderlands 2 and never seen a legendary from normal enemy
That was the luckiest and most convenient drop ever! However, it used up all my luck, and the TPS run is not going great in terms of drops...
You know you could have always gotten a "Flame of the Firehawk".
You should try this run again, but in tvhm then uvhm

@@LookIntoGamingwell the chance of a world drop is .01%, or 1/10,000. divide that by (the amount of world droppable shields)/(the amount of world droppable items) to get the chance of a shield. probably about 1/100,000 or 50x rarer than 0.05%

You need a fire weapon to get the Flame of the Firehawk. In a perfect run if I had a fire weapon, I would go get it. However, my luck paid out with the transformer from that bandit, so I didn't have to farm for a fire weapon.
the fact that ellie and rias gremory have the same voice actor astounds me
A ton of video game and anime characters have the same voice actors, and it's pretty neat when you notice certain characters that sound the same and end up having the same VA.

Maya is unique choice i personally wouldve chose zero because hes mostly about melee and bore but since you havent played her in years its understandable
At the start of every run you should go to digistruct peak and do the open the door quest. Gets you to level 3 instantly.
I kind of forgot that exists. I might use it for solo runs, but I prefer to start fresh characters for these runs.

Well if you play for too long the PC version, you either crash to PhysX or a memory overload (because of poor coding). I have never really had crashing problems on console.

yes and the run could get actually challenging in uvhm since there most builds and playthroughs rely on moxxie weapons which are all not legendary if i am not mistaken
In the dust behind ellies shop. I let a goliath max out and lured him into the crusher. Did absolutely nothing. I was disappointed
1: That's certainly one way to level up a goliath. I've never thought about doing it in The Dust. 2: Now I wonder if enemies killed by the crusher drop anything at all.
