- Las Tablas Panama is in the Azuero Peninsula. It has a population of about 9500, with an estimated 200 ex-pats in the area. Las Tablas is a recognized national center of Panamanian folk: Art, music, gastronomy, architecture, culture, and literature.
Las Tablas and Chitre are the two most affordable towns in the Azuero Peninsula. They both have modern hospitals, grocery stores, shopping, restaurants, and everything else you need for a good life in Panama.
In this video, Wally and Sam talk about all there is to do and see in Las Tablas. Wally enjoys great fishing and golf. Golf is only $80 a month for unlimited golf after a $1000 membership fee. Sam enjoys running, races, and baking. They enjoy $5 meals at local fonda (Panamanian restaurant)

Excelente vídeo que promociona nuestro bello pueblo, gracias saludos
Welcome to panama. The Azuero Peninsula has the best beaches in my country!
Thank you ! We agree :) loving it here
Hi Deborah,
Thanks for the detailed and informative video. Super helpful. You’re such a sweet couple.
I’ve decided to book a tour with PRG. after watching this 😊
I”m from Seattle too! So it sounds like you’re on the Azuero Peninsula Hornito spoke about in his previous comment?
I know a requirement for me is to be within walking distance to the beach.. I love the warm weather but need water nearby to swim and for the breeze.
How far is your home from the beach?
And can you snorkel in the water there? How warm is it?
On another topic: since Panama utilizes the Dollar, are you concerned re the volatility/manipulations still being tied to the currency of the USA?
Thank you.
I would say we are not walking distance. There are two main beaches nearby where you can park or take a taxi. It ranges from a $2 each way visit or $7. One is ten minutes by car, the other is more like 18-20 by car. I think you can snorkel / I see folks swim or play in the further beach often. I would say the average temperature is 80-83* plus or minus five degrees - year round, both rainy and dry seasons. It is pretty great. We share just one vehicle and that works well enough. We used the guide so after your tour, you’ll have access and it’s well worth it. :) still don’t use an umbrella - even being from Seattle - it’s not bad here. Maybe for sun protection !
You guys are living the life, I hope my wife & me will too someday. I love to kayak fish. Learned most of it in Florida. Thanks for sharing your video.
come see how you can LIVE BETTER in Panama too!
Thank you :) it would be great to meet more folks to fish with
Thanks for another great interview!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for the honest information. International living has the cost of living much lower. This really puts things in perspective from someone actually doing it.
Thank you :) I’m glad you liked the video
These are vital learning opportunities. I enjoyed the explanations this couple provided. One of my favorites 👍😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
That’s very kind of you to say :) Thank you !
Great video! I love that you frequent the Fondas on a regular basis. Great food and supports the locals :)
Fondas have great food at really good prices.
Another great video. Thank you Jackie
Glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent! Thank you 😊
Glad you enjoyed the video.
I'm going to start a savings account for Panama this year
Great idea!
So happy you guys like my country, Las Tablas is very nice community, your house is very nice 😊 enjoy the county 🇵🇦
Excellent video
Thanks for the visit Glad you liked it
Las Tablas pertenece a la provincia de Los Santos . Queda a 4 horas de la ciudad de PANAMÁ. Es un pueblo pintoresco. Gente amable. Cuna del Folklore.
My recommendation would be to ask also negative questions, such as, what do you miss the most from the States, how about family? What is the worst thing for you about Panama? And also interview people who aren't happy and might return. Show the negative side (which every place has) will give you a lot more legitimacy.
see this article about why people leave - panamarelocationtours.com/top-10-reasons-people-leave-panama
Good day. Nice video, thank you 😊 Looking for a 20 acres piece of agriculture land between Chitre and Las Tablas for semi-retirement.
I can speak Spanish and lived for 10 years in Mexico so used to Real Estate in Latam.
Also, how do you see Panama canal drought issue consequences on the local economy ?
Thank you.

Hi, I'm really curious what your husband gets on his yak off the Las Tablas area beaches besides Jacks. Any Corvina, Pargo, etc.?
He has caught a Rooster fish (trophy - threw it back alive and well / they don’t taste good), Jacks - a tuna, Snapper - a few varieties, Bonita. He has gone in a panga with a tour guide and they have caught Pargo and Corvina and more.
@@deborahwalter8672 Very cool, thank you Deborah.
I forgot - also Dorado - also known as Mahi Mahi - super YUM !! I love that the most !
@@deborahwalter8672 Mmm. You're making me hungry. Has he made his way over to Cambutal yet? That's where I'd be launching my kayak.
@PanamaRelocationTours Will you please consider adding the question "who did you leave in the United States or your home country and what were your feelings, how does this affect you?"
We are actually looking at visiting that area in 2025, how can we contact Wally and Sam if we want to chat before we come down?
Anyone know if Star Link available in the Las Tablas / Chitre areas yet? Thx
Starlink is available in Panama now.
What mystery books with recipes are you reading?
They are the Hannah Swensen murder mystery series - by Joanne Fluke
What is the location of the yellow Fonda?
How to you spell the name of the beach?
Uverito is one close to us - also Los Comadres
Ahhh how nice to see you guys again! Loved the video and catching up on your life in Los Tablas. Can't wait for Mar 1 when we get to reunite!
Great video, similar situation with research and panama coming up as a place to retire. Fishing and golf! What is the name of the golf course?
see this information about golf courses, including the one in Chitre, panamarelocationtours.com/the-best-golf-courses-in-panama
Our buddies, can’t wait!
Are these people independently wealthy? They aren't the usual retirement age. They didn't say what their professions were in Washington.....probably tech. Didn't mention anything about working online from down there.
He retired after 20+ years in the US military. It does not take much $ to live very well in Panama.
Hit the LIKE 👍🏼
I love their story so much, so relaxed so positive. I was born in Panama, have been in the US since 1973, it's home but retiring in Panama is not out of the question, something I would consider. Great info!
Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed the video.
@@PanamaRelocationTours of course you're welcome!
Glad you two are enjoying panama!
If I may ask, what us the sq.ft of your home?
Looks like about 1600-1800SF
Wally thinks it’s more like 1,400
I know you have to have a temporary visa to import household goods. Is it the same for using a mail forwarding company to get a pallet in? Or if we want to get a few boxes of items forwarded to Panama address, will they require a temporary visa?
I think an address or rental agreement was needed. The temp visa was in process and those things were all around the same time but first was using the lawyer &/or realtor to help with the translation for the lease agreement
