I used to have this exact washer that had the exact same problem. However, the bearings went out after 5 years and a repair man said it needed a whole new transmission so we ended up replacing it with a whirlpool but if we wouldn’t had, we would’ve definitely replaced the valve now knowing how simple it really is. Great video!! 😊
My GE washer had this leak twice since we bought in 2018. I replaced a GENUINE valve three year ago(2021). Now it is leaking again. The genuine valve has quality issue. It can only last 3 years. This time I am buying a non-genuine valve(hope so) to replace. GE washer quality has been going downward since Haier acquires it.
If you pop off the top of the machine (backsplash) during the valve replacement, make sure that the (orange) pressure tube is connected to the pressure sensor on the control board when closing it back up. Ours got disconnected without us realizing it, and we were getting a SUPPLY H2O error until we reconnected it.
I did remove the top control panel (just one screw on the ends to remove) and it made to a lot easier to remove the screws holding the value in place. It is also a good idea to pop out the black tab on the back metal panel and push off the ground wire clip. This allows that panel to removed and placed out of the way. I did not do this, and the panel fell off the washer with those wires still attached but luckily no connections were damaged. After I was done, I had the same issue with the H2O error and the machine would dump water into the tub and not get past the sensing stage. I did not even see that orange tube as I probably was focusing on all the wires and such, taking care not to compromise them. My wife found info about that tube and after taking apart the panel again, there it was, unconnected. I had to watch another video to see where it connected to which it turns out was a black prong about an inch long on the circuit board. That indeed, as noted by your post, fixed the problem.
My 5 year old GE GTW680BSJ5WS washer just started dripping water into the tub. I was hoping the part would cost much less than $60, it shouldn't be so expensive. But I found it on Amazon for $38.02 and it was a GE part, not an aftermarket part. But you might want to clean out that black mold in the detergent tray.
Thanks for this video. It allowed me to diagnose the problem and order the correct part. When it arrives, I’ll update my comment to include the results.
Thanks for this! Exact same model we have. Everything went smoothly except for that back screw but I got it replaced! Now we wait and make sure that was the problem.
That plastic panel pulls towards the back of the unit, then straight up. much more clearance to work from the front

Thanks for the helpful video. I have the exact washer and problem.
Just fixed my washer!!! Thanks
Big help! Thanks for posting!!
Hello great video do you happen to know the parts number . Thank you
You didn't say the part name?
How is this repair addressing the unit turning on by itself?
The unit auto senses the water in and turns on to spin then drain. Thanks for the question!
I was wondering the same thing!
What is the name of the part or the part number?
Hope it is not too late. part# WH13X26637
Ditto
Thank you
We have a front load washing machine that turns itself on and leaks when it’s off would this be a similar issue? Whirlpool front loader from 2010ish
That sounds like what ours was doing. It turns on because it senses the water level.
Same washer, same part replaced. Where is fill sensor
Mine is leaking detergent
Do you think it may be same part defect ?
Thanks in advance!
What do you mean it's leaking detergent?
This is exactly what I'm dealing with now and they wanted to charge me like 500 😮😂
