This Month on the Ranch: May

Enjoy a serene look at what life is like for the residents of the Arctic Reptile Ranch, located in the Sonoran desert near Phoenix, Arizona | May opens with a beautiful red hibiscus. It is not easy to grow hibiscus here and after many years, we may have found success! Hibiscus is lovely for the tortoise keeper as it’s a favorite food. Early May saw average temperatures for the area yet the oven did not take long to officially turn on. Warmer evenings in general have led to the native reptiles becoming even more active. A special treat for May was seeing the Northern Lights. Although we often saw them while living in Alaska, this was a wholly unique experience.
