The rear 'boot' door not opening is due to the two shocks going bad. They assist the motor to open the door. If the motor senses too many amps to open the door, it assumes there's something in the way. Replace the shocks ($65 US a pair) then you'll be good to go.
I purchased a used 2009 Lexus RX 350 several months ago. It had just a little over125 thousand on the odo. The first thing I noticed was the noise coming from the front and rear @ highway speeds. I went through all the maint records and found that the front and rear hubs had not been serviced. So I decided to do the job myself. I completely replaced the front and rear suspension with EVERYTHING new...steering knuckles, tie rod ends, disk brake calipers along with new rotors, pads, struts etc etc. Everything about the front and rear suspension. Even both the cv joints. Now the car is a little rolling limo. It is not leaking any oil, but I have heard about the oil cooler pipes leaking, along with the variable oil lines that will leak. I have already purchased both of these items just in case they do start leaking. I will be on them. I really like this car, everything about it. So I will see what happens. Thanks....

I did though, purchase everything from O'Riley auto parts store and ALL the parts were totally new. I purchased everything I needed, and spent 1/2 day one Saturday removing all the old parts, and spent the next Saturday installing the new parts which are ALL Moog parts. Now I do have another classic car which is a 1974 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. Again, I went to O'Riley and purchased a completely brand new Moog front suspension for that car, and I mean everything that has to do with the front supension just like I did my Lexus. Upon completing the work on both of my cars, I went to Firestone tire store and got the alignment AND new tires. The Firestone store manager asked me who did the work on both of my cars, and I told him I did it. He then asked me if I had all the tools. I said I do. He then asked me where did I get the experience. I told him I had an automotive class @ school during my Junior and Senior years, which was 1965 & 66. Look...he then asked me if I needed a job, and I said no, and that I had a job. He then said that guys come into his store looking for work who did not have tools and cannot do the job, and on the other hand guys who have tools cannot do the job, He then said "hell", YOU have the tools and can do the job! Well, I didn't mean to preach a sermon, but I am, @ the age of 75, is a true gear head. I have done repairs on ALL the cars I have ever owned. Make sure you keep the trunk/boot "shocks" lubricated before they fail. I use WD-40 silicone lubricant spray (not the regular spray, which is petroleum-based). The silicone tends to keep out water as well. I also use the spray on all the hinges (hood/bonnet, trunk/boot doors) and windshield/windscreen wipers' hinges. From the manufacturer: "WD-40 Specialist® Silicone Lubricant safely lubricates, resists water and protects metal and non-metal surfaces such as rubber, plastic and vinyl." I even use the spray on the window guides and door handles. A little preventive maintenance goes a long way.

I have same experience even the quarter panel window trim. The very first that broke to me was the CD player. But I still have it and still love it. Didn’t give me headache on this car. Very reliable and dependable. It’s a Toyota!!!
Bit of a delayed 'bump' here... but for anyone interested, I had the CD multi-changer go, which I fixed myself - you have to remove it and spend 1-2 hours carefully extracting all the mechanisms to lubricate 6 switches (with WD40 or equivalent) which, of course, are right at the bottom! Fix lasted about 5 years before misbehaving again. Took the opportunity to plug a GROM device in the back to play through cables/bluetooth, so not too fussed. I had the rear 3/4 trim go, which I replaced myself. Some chap sells them for about 70 quid each in America, but it works. If yours haven't yet gone then save yourself a lot of money by occasionally checking to see if they are still stuck or loosening. If loosening then try to prize loose bits (only) off, clean, lightly sand surfaces and run a bead of strong glue and stick back down. I promise you it'll save you the extortion and self-loathing in parting with £70 for a new one. Also, rear self-levelling sensor (for healights) and bolt (that attaches to the arm) can seize and snap too - sought out genuine sensor (only - £30) and bolt (some company in Germany - £7) and my mechanic had it all sorted in about 15-20 mins 🙂 I've had the car about 10 years and still going. Only other things to go wrong are just standard wear and tear you'd have to fix on any car 👍
Just bought an ‘07 RX 350 with 85K miles. A week after I bought it, cylinder 3 misfired with the check engine light on, barely driveable. Turns out 4 of the 6 ignition coils were different brands and 2 were bad. $1200 later, but the mechanic replaced all 6 ignition coils with OEM and put new spark plugs. Hoping it holds up now and isn’t a lemon.
My 09 RX 350 with 141 thousand has NOT done any misfiring. BUT, I have already purchased new coils and new plugs. The first chance I get, whether it does it or not, they will be replaced.

Bought my 2005 rx330 for 1700 bucks. Had 290k miles on it but in amazing Condition. Been 3 months now and so far have had to replace the damn ac compressor that was 900 bucks. Other than when I bought it I replaced the battery and brakes. So far have noticed a vibration whenever I get to and pass 45mph. Thought maybe a balance would do the trick and it helped. Bought two new tires and put the best two I had previously on the back. Vibrating definitely got better but it's still there. Next is the joints (500 bucks) maybe that will do it but love this truck
Have you checked your brakes? Possibly dirt in them causing binding? I experienced that before. Also are the rims perfectly circular? Sometimes if one has a slight kink in it that can cause vibration.

I know it needs a high speed balance as well but if I had to bet on it I'd say the vibration is from either needing the high speed balance, rear joints needing replaced, or like you mentioned maybe it is an issue with a rim 🤔 idk. But it sure is irritating lol

I have a 2005 Lexus RX400h - and I have not had ANY of these issues , even though it has 146,000 miles on the clock. The bushes were replaced after 140,000 miles but that is to be expected with that mileage. It is a phenomenal car.
Check under the side skirts for rust in the sills. Found holes in mine due to dirt being held in by the side skirts. They go under so far that you can’t see at all with the side skirts on even underneath the car.

There are problems with EVERY car, doesn't matter what type, model or year. Some have more problems than others, TAKE PRIUS FOR EXAMPLE. No end of problems. Lexus is way down the list. European cars are way up the list. In fact I would say that Lexus are the most reliable car in my estimation. Along with being comfortable and quiet. Hybrids have the economy. But then again non Hybrid Lexus are not too bad either like the 200T or the UX, NX
That is true! I have made similar videos on BMWs and VWs I have owned previously too. Sadly we don't get non hybrid Lexus cars in the UK apart from the RCF and the LC500
This happened to me on my 2007 model. The part was around £110 from Lexus. Its the low pressure return pipe NOT the pump. The pipe is around 10mm thick and is found on the drivers side behind the wheel. Initially a garage stated it was the pump but they were wrong. This can only be sourced from Lexus (in the UK) and was £1k plus which IS true. If you have leaking fluid make sure you get a proper assessment of it. You would be extremely unlucky to have a failure on the pump. I hope this helps
Don't forget the ABS Brake Actuator. This is the unit that controls the braking system through the electronics. If you hear a hissing or whining sound when the brake is applied it might be telling you that the actuator needs replacing at something like US$2700.00
FYI, for RX owners of years 2007 and older, the timing belt needs to be changed every 90k miles, along with the water pump. The RXs 2008 and newer have a timing chain, that should last the 'lifetime' of the car. That is obviously a relative concept. 😉. It may possibly wear out eventually.
Took my 08 to dealership for service at 90K They said I needed to change the timing chain/belt and charged me $2,500 Didn’t seem right at the time but service rep was a “friend” so trusted his advice
oil cooler oil hose and vvti oil line are known to rupture and spill all the oil within minutes and can destroy your engine if you're not quick to notice it

I own a 04 and recently did a timing belt kit. Which I disconnected the negative terminal for safety reasons. Since then my transmission is acting weird. It seems like it slips on occasion and has a hard shirt from 3rd to 4th. I’ve read the computer would eventually work that out be I’m not optimistic. Other than that is been a very comfortable , and reliable daily driver for the last few years. Car only has 115k miles.
Thats good its been reliable, annoying to hear about transmission. I haven't heard of that before. (ps you might like my other RX videos I have made a few on my RX )
I would add the rear brake calipers getting jammed on RX400h. I had to change mine and heard from many owners they had the same issue on their hybrids.
Holy shit so this is common. I have a 2008 rx400h with 211k miles and over the last year I've had issues with the sliding pins on rear brakes. Expecting the suspension to give out any day now lol
They had a recall I got mine b.c replaced but I swear they messed something up because my battery is terrible I get a new one through Toyota warranty every other year
I have a 2008 lexus, it's not the 350 but the 400h, same thing (just hybrid)with more than 222k miles at now for sure We will have problems (issues) because of the years on top, how many years on the road already ( topk me to north California and many other trips, but its old alread and depends on everyone conditions, (how we do used it plus is more than 10 years already) if You want a perfect car just get a new one..(my humble opinion) I just got another old one 2017 450h, with 30k miles it's many differences and technology aboard, not to compare but we want an old one (I love mine) it's not the car it's like me getting old, now my bones are cracking and making noise too, lol😂 greetings and Blessings to all...
I picked up this RX last year so not had it too long. I would look out for rust as that is the main thing for cars of this age. Then just usual check the brakes and tyres as I have been stung for that :(

@@j_toledo419 binding is when the brakes get sticky, this can be due to dirt getting trapped there. Might be worth taking it to a mechanic to look at.

Many of the Lexus were manufactured over seas. I bought mine from Japan so hopefully the quality is a little better

Thats good its been reliable, annoying to hear about transmission. I haven't heard of that before. (ps you might like my other RX videos I have made a few on my RX )
I would add the rear brake calipers getting jammed on RX400h. I had to change mine and heard from many owners they had the same issue on their hybrids.

Holy shit so this is common. I have a 2008 rx400h with 211k miles and over the last year I've had issues with the sliding pins on rear brakes.
Expecting the suspension to give out any day now lol

I just had them replaced on my 2007 rx400h, with 170k miles, a few months ago.
They had a recall I got mine b.c replaced but I swear they messed something up because my battery is terrible I get a new one through Toyota warranty every other year

I have a 2008 lexus, it's not the 350 but the 400h,
same thing (just hybrid)with more than 222k miles at now
for sure We will have problems (issues) because of the years on top, how many years on the road already ( topk me to north California and many other trips, but its old alread and depends on everyone conditions, (how we do used it plus is more than 10 years already)
if You want a perfect car just get a new one..(my humble opinion)
I just got another old one 2017 450h, with 30k miles it's many differences and technology aboard, not to compare but we want an old one (I love mine) it's not the car it's like me getting old,
now my bones are cracking and making noise too, lol😂

I bought a 2009 RX 350 about a month ago. This morning i went out to a check engine light and a flashing VSC light. so irritated right now

Just had it happen...I didn't even know it was losing oil until engine light came on! Scary...costs about 650$ to have fixed.

I picked up this RX last year so not had it too long. I would look out for rust as that is the main thing for cars of this age. Then just usual check the brakes and tyres as I have been stung for that :(

Mate I have had my Lexus rx 400h for years I am close to 300k miles on it, it's a good car, and I have only done regular maintainance on it.

But i had to use the word captions to understand most of what you said, because of your accent! for instance, here in Ameri ca we call the part that covers the engine compartment, the"Hood! you call it the bonnent.in the back, we call it a trunk, you call it the boot! Not neccessary fail it still runs fine I have just added fluid until I can get the rack
