"Stop using Dragonball as a Japanese textbook." Words to live by.

I think even though you say your english is bad, it's really helpful because it's a DIRECT translation of what you're saying and not stylized like other translations you come across. The fact that your translations are so direct makes it really easy to dissect the sentence and analyze every single part of it and I think that's really helpful for people who are above beginner level when they start breaking down sentences and getting into the nitty gritty of grammar - so thank you once again! I'm really enjoying these videos and I hope you continue making them!

    • @moshimoshi.yusuke
      @moshimoshi.yusuke  5 лет назад +50

Thank you for your kind words ! Yes, direct translation.
I think that it is not possible to study a language in translations like most movies. Because they are free translations and not subtitles for language learning. because it's part of entertainment.
But direct translation is ideal for language learning.

It is good for my listening and will quiz myself by taking screenshots and covering the English subtitles and marking the Hiragana to see if I can figure out what was being said. It will be an extra level of learning, so thank you kindly. 👍🏻

    最近、日本代表選手たちが韓国に試合をしに来ました。
    働きながら日本人の方々に応対しましたが、
    ゆっくり日本語で話してくれたことが思い出します···
    優しい日本語だと思いますね
    バス'に'乗るが正しい表現なのに
    バス'へ'乗ると使ったら変に見つめた記憶が···
    覚えなければならない部分があって難しいと思います。

BUT at the same time, Anime is unnatural Japanese, so don't depend on anime.) ALSO... THAAAAANKYOU Yuusuke-san! There is nothing wrong with your english really. Some spelling errors sometimes, but for the most part it's solid. Most of the time that spelling errors even occur, it's due to being in a bit of a rush because I can see that you spell the word correctly in other sentences. If my japanese would get as good as your english I would be happy.

Even though I started learning in january this year and even though I understand ~20% of what's been said, it is very rewarding to catch a word or even a sentence here and there and understand some of it. Your videos help tremendously!
You talked about Dragonball and Anime in your video. What's your opinion on using Manga for learning Japanese? Some Mangas may use some words, that most Japanese people wouldn't use in real life, just like in some Anime. Someone recommended よつばと for beginners/intermediates. What do you think?

    • @moshimoshi.yusuke
      @moshimoshi.yusuke  6 месяцев назад

Sorry, I've not read よつばと so I don't know the details.
I've heard that the manga よつばと are good for learning natural Japanese. But you may find it a bit difficult, because in よつばと there seem to be several regional dialects from time to time.

ありがとうすみません and すみませんありがとう are not better. They are not strange, but a bit unnatural. It depends on the situation, but we usually don't use すみません and ありがとう side by side at the same time.

    I have a question about: んけど/んだけど/んですが
I can't understant it, there are a lot of people who told me that is a ``marker`` or a ``softener´´
but, even so i'm not getting it, it seems to myself that's something for the daily conversation, i don't know.

    • @moshimoshi.yusuke
      @moshimoshi.yusuke  5 лет назад +4

      けど is basically a conjunction.
      けど/ですけど/だけど/ = BUT
It is true that they also play a role of a marker or a softener.
However, the original role is a conjunction.
Actually, after we say けど, we're going to say something. But we don't dare say anything. Because we think that everyone can understand what we want to say without saying anything.
I mean, we're going to say something after けど
But we don't often say anything after けど
      For example, [File.4] 02:49
      ここを りよう したことが ないんです けど
I wanted to say like this ¨ I've never used this shop, BUT I come here. So what should I do ? ¨
I mean, けど is the same role as BUT, but in Japanese, we often guess without saying the rest words.
      わたしは [ I ]
      ここを [ this shop ]
      りよう [ use ]
      したことがないんです [ 've never ]
      けど [ but ]
      ここに [ here ]
      きました [ come ]
どうすれば [ what or how ]
      いいんですか? [ should do ? ]

I recently listened to N3 listening material and was surprised that it was more difficult than I thought. Even if it was N4, I felt it would not be easy for foreigners.
Oh, Sorry, Facebook isn't very popular in Japan, so I don't use it. In Japan, LINE is the most popular SNS, so most Japanese including me are using LINE.
