Can someone tell me why the business ink cards are better than the regular ones? ink business unlimited is identical to CFU and ink business cash is identical to CFF??
The only problem with this trifecta is that it doesn’t permanently cover my biggest spend area groceries and gas. Until them it’s hard to recommend a Chase only setup. Dining only 3x on all the cards. Too much overlap. This is my core set up: plat - flights, gold - groceries and food, US Bank AR - Catch all with Apple Pay, BBP - Catch all, Custom cash - gas, WF Autograph - Transit.
For some people! I am a LOW low spender, and when I fly it's with budget airlines that cost a third as much as delta, American, etc., so I end up much better off with citi custom cash for 5x on grocery, penfed platinum rewards for 5x back on gas, and citi doublecash for 2x back on all else, with no annual fees since my total monthly spending is only $500 anyways
That's great! A solid cash back setup is never a bad thing. That's why I like that Chase points can be used not only for a ton of value with transfer partners, but also at a good rate for cash back too.
Not very good for international flights, good for Hyatt, 1.5x on unlimited is a little weak, I don’t use the travel portal so 1.25/1.5 boost is useless to me
honestly i believe the capital one duo is better because of the grocery coverage on the savor one and the same 3x on dining as chase and the venture X has 2x points per dollar compared to the freedom unlimited 1.5x. The only part where i see chase win is the redeeming points for cashback.
You can redeem it for cash on capital one too. The only part chase wins in my eyes is that it has Hyatt, MGM and IGH as partners which you can use to redeem. Capital one doesn’t have as good of hotel partners
In Texas we have heb as our grocery store which allows us to order online for curbside. The CSP gets 3x on online groceries so that works out well for us.
Awesome, yah my Chase trifecta is CSP, Flex, Ink Cash. I use Amex Blue Business Plus for my 2x catch all. No annual fee, MR preservation (when closing out gold and plat cards), travel partner acccess, amex offers, extended warranty, purchase protection, no 5/24 hit, no hard pull, etc.. (This is the only Amex card I plan on keeping forever.)
I got the Amazon instead of the sapphire cause I do shop at Amazon and Whole Foods a lot and sometimes they do a bonus multiplier for some months on some categories like gas
It depends on what you mean by hassle. Without knowing your setup and situation I couldn't say for sure, but if you're someone who would use the 5x rotating quarterly categories and would combine the points on an annual fee Chase card and transfer to travel partners to get the most value, it could be a really profitable card for sure. Even at a 2 cent/point valuation, you'd effectively be earning 10x in each of the rotating categories on top of the other earning rates it gets. Not to mention the bonus on it is the best in the game for a beginner card. Like I said though, it all depends on your goals with your setup.
Would you recommend an AMEX gold card over applying for these 3? I am looking to step up my credit card game and have a few basic cards with no annual fee right now. Could you apply for all three Chase cards at the same time?
You can definitely apply for the Gold card if you are going to use the credits on it to minimize the effective annual fee and want to use your credit card points for travel. The Gold card is one that gets a lot of hype (for good reason) but you need to make sure you'll get positive value from it before you apply. Also, I wouldn't apply for all 3 Chase cards on the same day by any meas. I'd personally leave a month at least between each application but that's just me.
Wait so would it be dumb to acquire Chase Freedom Flex if you already have Unlimited? I guess I missed an opportunity to take advantage of the trifecta lol.
I’m new into this credit thing and I got offered all 3 of them on my chase banking out which one should I start out with being a 21 year old limited credit history
Would you suggest getting the preferred for 80K welcome bonus or the Amex platinum for the 150k plus $200 one time statement credit welcome bonus I was targeted for? I'm hesitant about that $695 annual fee
Technically the Platinum bonus is the better choice. However, you have to make sure you'll get positive value from the credits on the card before applying for it. Amex does have a once in a lifetime welcome offer rule though, so if the Platinum is a card you'll get a lot of value from, now is the best time to apply. The CSP bonus is excellent too, however, Chase doesn't have that once in a lifetime language so you could always get multiple CSP bonuses over the years to come. Just make sure that you get the card that makes the most sense for you!
How's this better than having a bunch of $0 annual fee, 4 and 5% cash back cards, using it on travel, or whatever? Are the points with fees really better?
It's not that you earn higher multipliers all the time with annual fee cards, but the higher annual fee cards unlock the ability to transfer your points out to travel partners, effectively at least doubling the value of your points if you redeem them in that way. For those that like to use their points for travel, that means every earning multiplier these cards give you can be multiplied by at least 2 to give you the true value of them once you redeem. Hopefully that makes sense!
@@SpencerJohnsonOfficial At least 2x? Never heard that claim before. Sure about that? Seems to me 5% is better than any points card, even if you don't take their annual fees into consideration. Factor in the annual fee and the 5% cash back card is even much better. A 4% cash back card is usually better or a lot better. Factor in the annual fee on points cards and the 4% cash back card is always better. Am I wrong? With cash back cards, you don't need transfer partners. Everybody accepts cash.
@@RedRider1600 Cash back setups are great for some people! They're more simple and easy to use, but if you take the time to learn how to use travel points effectively, getting 2x the value is generally a conservative estimation. For example, if you have a card like the Citi Custom Cash that gives you 5x in one category, that's 5% cash back. If you then get the Citi Premier card with a $95 annual fee, use the $100 hotel credit a year, you'll get paid $5 a year to hold it... then if you transfer every point you earned in those 5x categories to the Citi Premier card and transfer them out to travel partners, even if you just do a little research you'll get at least 2x the value from your points. That means you're now getting AT LEAST 10% back on every purchase on that card, plus getting paid $5 a year to keep the card open if you use just the one credit on it. As I said, cash back setups are great for certain people, but if you want to learn how to get the most value from your points, cash back cards will always lose that battle. It just depends on if you're willing to spend a bit of extra time to transfer your points out to partners.
That’s awesome! The Freedom Flex is a nice supplemental card for those rotating 5x categories. I’m definitely a fan, but I get the most use out of my CFU and then use the CSP to transfer out to travel partners mainly (plus for streaming services and misc travel).
It depends on your goals! If you need a catch-all card then the CFU would be better, but if you want the 5x rotating categories the CFF is better. I say why not both? I did make a video comparing the two cards if you're interested.
I think CFU is better than CFF if u had to choose one. From my experience, if u dnt spend much or at all in the category its currently on, its a waste. If u had CFU, ud get 1.5x instead of the 1x
That could be a decent setup too depending on what you're going for. If you're on team travel, the CSP and Bilt cards are both pretty solid, but the double cash requires you to add the Citi Premier if you want to transfer out to travel partners instead of just using their portal if that's something you want to do. Like I said though, it depends on your goals.
If you product change to the freedom flex, you’ll lost the ability to get the welcome bonus. I would recommend you apply fresh for it to lock in that free 20k chase points, but if you’re already not eligible for the SUB on it for some reason, you could product change to it instead. Just get that SUB if you can!
You wouldn’t be able to product change into a business card, but you could always apply fresh for the Ink cards if you wanted some high SUBs! I’m personally a fan of adding all the no annual fee cards you can (especially with Chase) for even just the SUBs, but that may not fit your strategy.
My opinion is if you don’t already have a card giving you at least 1.5x on every purchase, get the Unlimited. If you already have a card like that then maybe you’d get more value from the rotating categories on the Flex, but the Unlimited is my top choice between those two for sure.
