Ronaldinho was fat, undisciplined, and unmotivated. Both he and Deco were finished before Pep ever arrived at Barcelona. Their careers after leaving the club underline this. Zlatan Ibrahimović had every opportunity to prove himself at Barcelona, but he was terrible. The team did everything to help him flourish, yet he brought his bad attitude onto the pitch and refused to track back, costing Barcelona the game against Inter Milan in the 2010 semi-final.
I think you're being unfair to Pep Guardiola. Barcelona still had plenty of strong personalities, and so did Bayern Munich. Yaya Touré was not the type of midfielder that suited Pep's playing style; he wanted quicker distribution from the pivot, yaya was more box to box, which isn't pep's style. Trying to frame this discussion around personality while ignoring that Touré complained about a lack of birthday cake, and that Zlatan never once acknowledged his own shortcomings during his time at Barcelona, is simply spinning your own biased narrative. It's also worth noting that Ronaldinho was a fat, unmotivated party animal for two years at Barcelona before Pep arrived.
The only player I disagreed with Pep about sending away was Samuel Eto'o, who proved Pep wrong for dismissing him in favor of Zlatan. However, even then, the following year, he brought in David Villa, and Barcelona was arguably the best team to ever play the game that season.

You forgot to say how much Pep loves to spend money. He never goes to a team if they are not winners already. So he has head start already. But then he spends extortionate amounts of money especially at City. He knew he could win again with the team he had. But chose to use the money because his success which is guaranteed with money. Pep needs to show his so called genius at club where he has to build from scratch with a sell to buy policy. Then I am sure Pep would be seen for who he really is not the genius but a manager who has to be given a unlimited budget and the best salary or he won’t come to manage the club.

I don’t get why people say Zidane is one of the top managers of all time.. compared with the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson, Jose Mourinho or Pep Guardiola, who are clearly out of his league. I mean, managing one of the greatest teams to grace a football pitch like the second Galacticose Prime Real Madrid with questionable refereeing choices (not saying that they paid the referees) and threepeating the Champions League with that powerhouse.. meanwhile Sir Alex managed to take a team of old looking men and convert them into the best of the best for nearly a decade, raising one of the two GOATS as his own son.. Zidane sure is a good manager but he’s gonna have to prove more in order to be on the same level as Guardiola or Mourinho

@@zenmantle he’s not alone. Mourinho brought on a new era in management style with him, one where managers became more expressive. Wenger comes from a more quiet era where managers spoke through performances, and seldom have speeches. Mourinho is more of an evolution of Brian Clough and such. Very outspoken and in all manner of competition, a psychological edge can do wonders, Mourinho knows this and is partially why he hasn’t been able to bring longevity to his work. Managers have smartened up to his antics and don’t let his outbursts affect them nor their players and at this, Wenger failed.
