    Just ordered the 65" QN900D but I'm a PC gamer, so my justifications for needing one are very different to a TV user (4K 240hz and 8K 60hz)
    Hopefully I'm happy with it, when it arrives in a couple of weeks.
    Also I wonder how that changes how streaming performance will be if I'm running from windows 11 directly.

      Hi did your qn900d arrive.
      Hope you enjoying it if its come.
      So how is sports and movie watching on it.
      How is the processor and the upscaling .

    • @L4J4
      @L4J4 3 месяца назад

      @@shawnnkalon2965 I had received it a couple of das after posting this comment :) but I ultimately ended up returning it. As I asked fomo on stream if it was even worth it at half the price I had paid for and he said no for sports it'll be fine I'm sure.
      But I wanted it primarily for PC gaming and it's only an amazing display for me at 8K 60hz the 240hz (which is why I thought I wanted it) worked as advertised but wasn't as transformational an experience for me as native 8K was.
      I didn't get to watch any live sports on it, just tv shows on prime/plex etc and I have no idea if it was upscaling in real time or not, but everything looked sharp and bright just a step below a modded S90C still in my opinion. I bought the tv for nearl £5K and had a chance to buy it for £2.5K but passes up on it. If you need it that badly for sports and can afford it why not, as the motion is better than the S90C as a comparison and the os runs way better/faster, but I'd expect that for 4-6x the price depending on what deals you can find for the S90C and QN900D.
      I'd recommend it for sports viewers/couch pc gamers who need 240hz and desktop users who want 8K 60hz, but it's not worth the asking price for me.
      So avoid the early adopters tax.

    • @L4J4
      @L4J4 3 месяца назад

      @@shawnnkalon2965 I got it for PC Gaming and I ended up only liking the TV for 8K 60hz, 240hz worked as intended but I prefer the motion clarity and picture quality of OLED if I'm honest, especially given the cost of the TV (which is the biggest issue)
      Sports and quick motion content the QN900D is probably the best TV you can buy (especially if you're consuming the content in normal tv modes direct from the tv)
      I would personally go with an OLED (S90C) as an example but I do notice some motion issues on certain low fps content on the S90C which I never did with a QN900D.
      So basically I recommend it for following purposes
      You watch high motion sports content a lot
      You want to use your PC in 8K a lot of the time
      You want to game at 240hz
      any other reason get an OLED and get much better value for money, if you're happy to pay the premium for the above, that's your choice :) I'd also say if you want 8K for the desktop like me, just get a QN900B or C probably.

      As a PC Gamer, 8K is not useless. This is the only 65" Display available that can be used as a PC Monitor due to the pixel density. And I'm not talking about gaming at 8K. I'm talking about doing everything else you'd do on a PC. The desktop, office tools, video editing, web browsing...that's where the 8K resolution makes a difference.

    This comparison is not fair / misleading. The "Auto" mode on the S95D and QN900D is not the best for sports. These should be set to "Custom" with both blur and judder reduction set to Max (10), just like you did with LG G4 ("User selection"). The reason why QN900D performs better than the S95D in Auto is because it has an AI Motion Enhancer Pro, which recognizes sports content and therefore is able to better adjust the blur and judder dynamically based on the content. If you set them both to custom and max out, they will behave pretty similar with sports content. You make it seem like the G4 performs better than the S95D, which is not like for like.

    • @gerard3797
      @gerard3797 Месяц назад

      Sony is just as blurry when you put motion flow on Auto or Off. Sony is much more geared towards movies and series and slow movement, not so much fast movement. Their processing is much more heavy than LG and Samsung (about 300ms audio delay compared to 100ms for LG/Samsung) and you notice that with fast movements. It just can't keep up. Especially fast horizontal panning Sony is all over the place. It is a matter of choice what you like, not the one better than the other. All these new generation tv's perform pretty much the same with blurr reduction set to max. I find Sony's image to be over processed even with Motion flow off.

    Was the Tennis in HDR? I saw Vivid HDR on the G4.
    Most folks will watch sports in SDR in their default mode (standard or cinema). It would be nice to see how they compare in SDR too with a Standard (uncool mode by switching to Warm 1 or Warm2) - also nice to show folks what a Standard mode with Warm 1 or Warm 2 looks like compared to Filmmaker and Cinema modes. I would be curious to see if Filmmaker and Cinema trump a Standard mode with the blue tint removed through Warm 1 or Warm 2and a tiny color change (5-10% on the slider) to just get the TV to your personal preferences. You can show that side-by-side and show how very few tweaks can get an image that some people might prefer but more importantly they can see it side-by-side.

    • @stopthefomo
      @stopthefomo  3 месяца назад +1

      Yes, Chromecast and other streamers automatically converts to HDR as default unless you go into settings to disable that BUT as you will always have your streamer in HDR to watch Netflix so watching sports on RUclips TV is also HDR. However the internal app is likely SDR which explains the completely different color space, dynamic range and brightness in the comparison at the end!

    • @techsamurai11
      @techsamurai11 3 месяца назад

      @@stopthefomo Would anyone really want that? It would be doing the same thing the TV does but just a lot worse. I'd rather let the Sony apply extended dynamic range to the image for those 1,000 nit highlights. For instance if you watch Venice by Jacob + Katie Schwarz in HDR, it's very bright but my SDR OLED and LED TV are right behind with 950 nits each in the sun lit images.

Just not sure if processing would make it not much of difference between 4 and 8K on desktop clarity. Some desktop exploring (text) on these TV's would be nice. Wish 8k was trending but then no content or something silly like that. How much 4K are they watching now and does getting a 4K over 1080P matter that much (this vid is 1440P)? My sat is 1080i.

    Sports - that's the reason I have a smaller TV (so my eyes don't have to move) and a Sony. Can you see the jerseys on the players's backs? Impossible to read without Sony's Reality Creation especially in motion and when the player turns. Even the commercial screens on the sides of the field and the fans - they just lack the DLSS effect that Sony brings with its pre-determined AI processing. Ditto for the scoreboards and everything else like F1 timings, any text anywhere. I would even suggest that hair and faces are slightly clearer on Sonys but maybe that has changed.
    I'd love to see a head-on comparison between Sony and other TVs in sport - especially how top tier TV likes the G4 and S95D compete with Sony in sports especially important details like jersey numbers, soccer ball, tennis ball etc. I'm hoping the other manufacturers have caught up.
    Soccer is the worst because they use a single camera to capture the whole field instead of using multiple 1080p cameras and merging the feed into a single image which would retain 1080p detail as if you're 10 feet away and shooting but they can't do that on the fields - that's why close-ups are amazing but the overhead view which is 95% of what you see is terrible. Processing is everything. F1 is the same with the speed and the horrendous macroblocking.
