Well done! One of the things I appreciate about the golf course is the nature.

I wrote a booklet (yet unpublished) about Breaking 100. I'm a 20 handicap player and always trying to break 90. You are are spot on in your instruction. I emphasize that distance is not the primary concern at this level. If you can just hit the ball 100-125-yds, you will be on or near most par 4 holes. Concentrate on the par 3's which you'll be on or near in one shot. Spend a lot of time on chipping and putting where distance control is key. And use the 27 extra shots you get wisely by avoiding the trouble- as you clearly point out. Nice job!!

I watched break 90: being honest there was nothing there that I didnt know already BUT it was a very good reminder and gives me an aim for my nest game! Thank you Michael.

In stableford scoring. Having a zero point hole restricts scoring.

Cheers great video, very good explanation...smooth an steady. 64yrs 16hcap 5 wood, 5hybrid, 7i 9i pw sw putter no drama keeping it on the cut grass, we have a very very tight tree lined course from Sydney Australia thnks

  • @gingernutssss

This is exactly what I needed to find! Cant wait to put it into practice this weekend, thank you.

I am on that "want to break 90 all the time " spot. HC per Hole19 is 18.5 over my last 10/20 rounds. Broke 90 5 of them. My 3 biggest hold backs 1) concentration, slowing myself down 2) Alignment, for some reason I feel aligned-hit the ball straight, and I am 30 yards right on 150 yard shot 3) Distance with 205 driver and 90 yard PW can't hit a 3w so my next club is 5w at 175 so little room for bad shots. So back to issue 1) Concentration!!!

Cheers for the video mate. Great video from the everyday golfer. G'day from Australia.

Just watched this last week and hit 90 this weekend! I wasn't striking the ball very well, but course management got me there. Thanks for this!

your right on target, I am working on breaking 80 but I still use the same strategy on course management that you suggest. I'm going to show this to my golf partner, he is guilty of all the don'ts that you mentioned.

  • @867goose

Youve saved me two strokes before I even start!!! I no longer bring out the driver till about the third or 4 th hole!!!

Thanks Michael for this video! I think I’ll engrain “Putt for Par” in my brain. I’m going to try it out on my round in a few hours. Hopefully it should work. 😊

problem is with golfers like me trying to break 100 or 90 consistently, there always seems to be those unexpected and totally wasted shots , ( like hitting the ball fat or thin) , then the anxiety builds and snowballs......that part of game management is what I most like to know how to avoid .......thanks

  • @patji123

Nice presentation. You made just a few minor mis-hits off the tee. The rest of your shots, especially the short game was pretty much right on. The high handicapper tends to chunk or thin some of those. Thanks for the video. Very helpful.
