  • Nailing your cycling training and nutrition is key to performance and sometimes we get it wrong or go off the rails with our nutrition and recently I have hit a block. I made some mistakes with my training and fell off the wagon a little bit and massively missed the mark with my nutrition, which has left me feeling a little bit sluggish and off the mark during races so it's time to get back on it and see if we can find some good legs, eat slightly better and enjoy a summer of racing mtb XCO.

    I find I get stuck on weight quite regularly, more especially when I'm getting hammered in races by younger guys that are 15-20 kg less than me. It's easy to just blame weight so often but until you're paid to ride a bike for living, try not to get hung up on diet and training all the time and take it easy! There are more important things in life than cycling

    That swimming action you pulled and the little noise you made doing it cracked me up laughing. Love the content Georgie Boy. Your banter…… epic. Good luck racing. Look forward to the video.

    I can really relate to this. Worst thing is when you eat a bit too much there’s a tendency to eat the entire fridge

    Life is all about balance. Concentrate on the important things.... Rocket.
    Focusing on the bike is definitely difficult when there's so many other things going on....I don't mind.... I just love seeing you race regardless of the result. I know you just want to win but that's not the be all and end all. Keep making the videos I love watching them.❤️

      Thanks Julie appreciate it 🙌 the rocket and baby definitely have to be number 1 for the foreseeable and as much as I love training/racing I can’t wait for the next chapter… it’s just going to take some getting used to 😂

    Keep going doing what you're doing and your legs will come good by end of June. Running is good over the winter and early spring but needs to be dropped completely to switch the legs onto pushing the peddles hard and the adaption back could take up 6 wks or more.

    Great video I struggle with weight too a bit , the best way to do it is to have glass of water before you start eating , and if you start eating crap you should punish yourself with 20push ups lol

    Nice video ! Different priorities for this year 👍🏻 but I guess the 7kg are hidden in those stronger legs that you built this winter... right ? 😛

    It’s tough trying to fit everything in and around a normal working week, I’ve concentrated a lot on Z2 and endurance over the last 4 months and haven’t done much technical riding, so come mtb race season and my technical ability is rusty. We just do our best with the spare time we have and keep it enjoyable. Nice to meet you and chat the other day 👍🏻 keep up the great content (Ade, 9hr solo rider in a dry robe wanker costume 😂)

      Yep it’s definitely hard to balance it all but it’s all good fun! Good to meet you too I hope you have recovered and aren’t too beaten up… 9hr solo is absolute madness 😂

    Banish the crap food ( ie tasty stuff that is bad..) , bread, beer, cake, crisps from the house. It works by stopping you eating spontaneously, that usually means bread and peanut butter .. that random sarnie might be 400kcals ffs.... every day it adds up to weight gain.
    It'll be worse when there's kids food around, I put on loads of lard having snacks in the cupboard meant for school lunch packs, can't help being greedy if you are greedy man ... oh yeah, my brother has lost weight by having smaller plates to eat off. 😂
    I've stopped mixing tech training with the power and interval stuff, so maybe intervals on the turbo in the morning then play on the mountain bike in the afternoon.
    If you end up totally tunky then there's always downhill or flat time trials 😅

    • @GiorgioCoppolaCycling
      @GiorgioCoppolaCycling  4 месяца назад

      It’s not easy to do that as it’s the rocket that gets the naughty snacks as a treat but I end up eating it all before she even has one 😂
      Maybe I should just keep practicing my tech and just ride downhill 🤔

      @GiorgioCoppolaCycling it's really difficult living with other people who have different diets, habits and metabolisms 😄 ... so my missus does bring home crisps and the occasional cake but she has weight issues ( as do I) so there is restraint but its not consistent.
      At some point it'll become an issue that can't be ignored... most people start piling on the pounds after 30 , for some it gets out of control.
      Personally, left to my own devices I don't have gack in the house as I'm a very greedy man and always give in to temptation, I suspect you are similar....
      You can both cook and understand nutrition so at least there's a good chance to work out compromises and have a good diet for your family.
      Perhaps you should have a biscuit dispenser that drops one a day only..... 🤔😁

    Hi. Think ahead, in 20-25 years, when the children have grown up and moved out, then you can start full training again 🙂

    You're having a baby soon, I wouldn't worry about it too much - you won't have time to focus entirely on being a semi-pro athlete!!! 😅

    First thing you will notice with kids , and age , is that you don’t recover like you did pre stressful life ..
    Therefore you need to train less to recover and get the most out of the next session…
    So in your new world you might still be overtraining old boy .
    That being said you’re still at the front of most of the races so it hasn’t all gone wrong yet , and we want the content so can’t complain 😂

    • @GiorgioCoppolaCycling
      @GiorgioCoppolaCycling  4 месяца назад

      Yeah that’s probably true, we have a lot more on now and also my sleep has been awful recently which I think is massively affecting my recovery… I guess it’s all a learning curve at the moment 🤷‍♂️

    I hate how you have to be skinny to be good at cycling and running. It’s just plain hard. But at least you only have 7 kilos to lose just don’t let that get out of control and next year your saying you have 20 kilos to lose😂
    It’s going to get even harder once the baby comes 🎉 no sleep you might as well quit racing for 5 years. 😂

    • @GiorgioCoppolaCycling
      @GiorgioCoppolaCycling  4 месяца назад

      Me too if it wasn’t the case I would probably be 20kg up 😂
      I’m slowly excepting I might be slow for the next few years 👀😂
