Dr. Chu: “What’s happening in Gaza is a humanitarian emergency like I have never seen before”

Dr. Edward Chu went to Gaza in December with a team of Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) staff with two objectives: to support the emergency department and operating theater at Nasser Hospital, including plastic reconstructive surgery and skin grafts, and to find a location farther from the front line where MSF teams could work safely. “It was already clear that we were likely not going to be able to stay at Nasser Hospital much longer,” he says.
