Hey SuperTutor, could you guys do a video on time management and not procrastinating? It’s something I really struggle with, and if I overcome that barrier, I will be much more successful :/
@@godlytechreviews4 I used this program online called prepscholar which helped a lot. They guarantee 4+ points improvement on your score or you get your money back. Also take a lot of practice tests and stay true to the time limitations. Review what you got wrong on those practice tests and make sure you know why u got them wrong and know how to correct it. For english know ur commas, semi colons, colons, and dashes. For math, know distance formula, law of sines and cosines. For reading, do the prompts that interest you the most last so ur not burned out at the end and cant focus on boring ones. For science save the comparing viewpoints for last it takes the most time. Bring a snack and water for the break, its only 10 min. If you really have to, you're allowed to go to the bathroom during the test, but you dont get extra time. If I think of anything else I'll lyk.
One tip that I do for myself on the Science, Math, and Reading section is to chunk the problems by tens (10, 20, 30, etc.) and give myself about eight minutes per section. Even if I dont see my watch, I can roughly feel if I am taking longer than eight minutes, and the good thing is that I almost always finish with around 3-5 minutes to spare on all of these topics. Then I go back and check problems I wasn't sure about. I dont have problems with English pacing or scoring, so I dont worry about it, but with science, timing was KILLER. After this, I almost always finished with enough spare time, and it wasn't rushing me so much that I lost accuracy. Hope it helps!
I ended up making a 28 on my test, thank you for your help. :) I will be taking again but I am happy with my score especially for my first time taking it
Oh an update I think. I got my score back. I almost had a panic attack. Looking back Idk why the big deal. I got a 19 I know it's not good. But I was expecting like a 12 so that was pretty good. I didn't prepare for it at all...
Taking the ACT tomorrow! I've studied using the Offical ACT red book, Barron's 36 book, Barron's math and science book, and the official ACT website. These videos gave the most help while self-studying. Thank you for your videos Brooke!
Depends on your context. Do you go to a very competitive HS? Is your school's average ACT score over 29-30? If so, you may want a 34+. If you've got the highest score at your school, you're probably fine.
i do good in school but taking this is so stressful, on my test i tend to rush cause of the time constraint, and my english isn’t so good at least when it feels i’m being rushed
My predicted score is English (35-36), Math (35-36), Reading (29-32), Science (31-33). The instructor did not let me use a stopwatch, so that screwed me on reading 😫😰.
Hey I have question. So for my college application personal statement I was thinking about writing about my journey of improving myself over the years in high school. I mentioned that a motive for the improvment was my country's (Saudi Arabia) vision plan to revamp the country and make it a better country. I also mentioned little details such as the first time volunteering and how proud it made me feel that I almost like became "addicted to it". does this sound interesting or would you recommend me to change it?
Hi Brooke! Ive been looking to invest in your prep guide for awhile, but I have one question. Is there anyways to ask questions to you or another tutor. I know the course is online through prerecorded videos, but didn't know if i joined if i would have the opportunity to talk to others and ask for advice or something. Thanks so much for your videos!
Hi Luke, at this point (I can't promise what it will be like in a year or two), I do respond to emails from students and questions directly (in moderation-- i.e. a question here or there with a quick answer) if there is a question about a particular explanation or unclear answer choice/materials within the course. Alternatively, I've also corrected and edited exercises that had typos etc. and reissued for students in cases when there were issues and also fast tracked certain packets or materials on subject matter students wanted more help with. For example, right now I'm working on a "pacing guide" / suggested study calendar to create as a download within our course, which was a request from a parent yesterday. This, however, is not private tutoring, but product support, the result of which will hopefully make the course better for all students. If we scale to a point that I can't handle all the questions, we'll have someone in my office handle them in any case. If you're looking for private tutoring or have questions that are not related directly to course content or functionality, we do offer that on an hourly fee basis, but it is not included with the course. Information on private tutoring, including rates, is available on our site or at brookehansontutoring.com. We also offer a less expensive tutor option (i.e. not me) in the range of ~$60/hr online if she is available; she has access to the online course and its materials so can help navigate/assign/etc. using that as a resource.
Anybody have any more tips for the literary narrative. It just always takes me way too much time, and I miss more questions there then all other sections combined.
34 puts you in the top 1% of test takers, as opposed to the top 2% for a 33, so I really wouldn't bother trying to go for a perfect, it's practically the same thing.
im a senior now lemme help you out. take practice test a lot. u can take the official ACT up to 12 times so DO IT. like deadass take it quick and once every 2 months if ur not happy w ur score. go to Star Tutors, Organic Chemistry Tutor, and Tutor Ted and I SWEAR to god they help so much.
So the SAT has a practice test called the PSAT. Does the ACT also have a practice counterpart? Should my child consider taking both the SAT & the ACT? If so, what is the benefit? THANK YOU!
Hi! There is something called the preACT, which we took as a school in 9th grade (I'm going into my senior year of high school btw). We took the PSAT in 10th and 11th grade. As far as the tests go, just take ones that you get a good score on. Some people score terribly on the ACT, but then take the SAT and do tremendously better, or vice versa. As for me, I only took the ACT because I got very good scores on it (first time without proper accommodations I got a 29 composite, with proper accommodations I got a 33 composite). I didn't want to take the SAT because I already did well and didn't need the extra stress in my life.
I'm in middle school, where there is a Act Program only a few participate in.(Intelligence)I got chosen and know none of the info I need to pass.THE PRESSURE IS REAL
Did the actual ACT online prep. After studying for hours I did the first practice exam and got a 20... All that work for a fucking composite score of 20. Less than my predicted score before fucking studying. ALL BECAUSE... I didn't practice time management.
32 IS NOT A NORMAL BASELINE !!! YOU DO NOT NEED A 32 !!! YOU ARE SMART !!! SO IF YOU ARE WATCHING THIS AND GETTING KINDA SAD AND FEEL A LITTLE STUPID (like me), DON'T !!! YOU ARE PERFECT AND SMART !!!

More guidance of details leading to select the most correct answer on the ACT of each section, please.
The ACT seems so much harder than the SAT
It depends on what kind of person takes the test. On the SAT, the questions are harder, but more time is given. So choose which ever works for you.
When she doesn't talk fast enough, so you play the video at 2x speed
Regarding the math section , you said that usually the questions at first are easiest . So would you recommend starting at the end for math .
I am assuming this is way too late but I will still answers. And the answer is no. Always easiest to hardest.

If you choose to send the ACT do you need to send the SAT Subject Tests?
Colleges either require that you send in either the SAT or ACT, not both. Colleges don't have a preference for which one you send in
