Mage knight. Released in 2011, it's still being played 13 years later

Thanks for answering my question. Great work always. So awesome that you got to play BG with Ian O’Toole. I am a big fan of his work.

Ooooh, my favourite graphic novel series is Usagi Yojimbo by Stan Sakai. It's set in feudal Japan and follows the adventures of a ronin as he travels around the country. It's been going for about 40 years so if you enjoy the stories there is plenty to work your way through.

Thanks for the VLog Paul. Answering some of the questions posed to the group. I prefer Gaia Project to Age of Innovation and both over Terra Mystica. When thinking about what game will still be played in 20 years, Ark Nova came to mind for me.

Great VLOG Paul, thanks! My preference is also AoI > TM > GP.

Great vlog as always Paul. I have about 280 plays of Castles of Burgundy under my belt, around 270 of them online.

Arcs. Just a new kickstarter. That one is a classic! And still played over 20 years!

We have a library with 250+ games so there is not a lot of repeats as we try to play as many different games per year. At the moment Imperial Settlers and Ark Nova share the top spot with 20 plays. Third place is for Isle of Cats with 17 plays.
Medium game for travel for solo: maybe 20 Strong. There are a few magazine war games which are very small but are medium to heavy.

Answering the question about number of plays: I've played Dominion over 1000 times with a physical copy. Of course, that includes all of the expansions.

2 for 1 answer - Which game will still be played in 20 years and which have I played over 1000 times - Terraforming Mars. Played over 500 games solo with the physical game and about 7000-8000 on the Steam app, and now a growing number on BGA.

I loved Scythe the first time, didn’t like it the second, then loved it the third time. I’ve since bought it and still love it.
Wingspan had a similar journey, but that settled on me finding it pretty average. My daughter likes it though.

I can't think of a heavy game for travel but medium games we like to take include San Juan, Oh My Goods (now available in the smallest "Big Box" you have ever seen) and Rajas of the Ganges: Dice Charmers. The first 2 need a fair bit of table space but you could play Dice Charmers easily in an airport lounge or similar.

Great Vlog as usual. I am a BGA neophyte so my most played game is only 9 games(tied between Ark Nova and Arnak). In person my most played game is almost certainly Magic:The Gathering even though I have not played in years.

Have played about 250 games of Azul on BGA. Could honestly be much more since each game is really quick.

Gia Project for me but easy answer when it’s the only one I’ve played!
The playing lots of game one is interesting - with being fairly new to the hobby & not being able to afford a load of game (also space) I certainly play some games often when at home. But having channels such as yours really helps to focus on some of the game I know I’ll like and try to keep a smaller collection that I know I’ll play most of 🙂

5328 games of Star Realms (24 live, 5304 in the SR-app.)
Used to play it daily but since I play on BGA that has gotten priority.
Also, will be playing Star Realms 20 years from now and I think a lot of people will.

I'm fully in on Terra Mystica rather than any of the newer variations or Gaia Project but that's mainly because I bought the Big Box when it was released and haven't played through all of that content yet.

    Most played game
    Marvel champions - 788
    Arkham horror LCG - 581
    Spirit island - 349
But i have also played a lot of Spirit island digital app and would guess i have played it 1000 total.

Have you ever read ‘Dragon Claws’, it came out in the 80’s as a series of comics, but you can buy them all as a graphic novel now. Read it as a kid and loved it, it is set in a dystopian future where the top gladiatorial sports team (The Dragon Claws) are used by a shady world government and sent on missions to quell rebels/unrest. Eventually they realise they are being used as pawns to shut down protestors against the world order and fight back. Great fun 👍

I tried the Cola Bottle Jaffa Cakes after I posted my question (I thought it was just cola flavoured) and they are quite nice, they do taste like cola bottle sweets. I've got a couple of packs which are coming to Manorcon with me.

I have 640 terraforming mars plays on the table, solo. Countless more on Steam and BGA. The KS automa and new maps I am awaiting this month should put me over 1000 plays.

A game that I did not enjoy for the second and third play was Tiletum.

AoI over Terra Mystica -- I haven't played Gaia Project enough to say for sure, but I'd lean towards AoI. I really like that in AoI color and faction are separate. I do like that GP maps are more varied.

Gaia Project every time. I am playing my first game of Age of Innovation on BGA at the moment and I'm not convinced. Better than Terra Mystica but it's not going to take over Gaia Project.

I think RPG’s such as D&D and Frostgrave may still be played in 20 years this maybe down to the constant re-versioning and promotion and there are many now classic games that did a mechanic best, like Mage Knight with deck building, that will still be around unless a new game comes out that does it better.
Other games that are great like Dune Imperium, Twilight Imperium, Brass and are still promoted will still be played but that’s down to the publisher. I mean Star Wars Imperial Assault would have still been played if FFG had slowly released content and adaptations.

  • @boja70
    @boja70 3 месяца назад

And age of innovation is by far the better game because of the placement on the board. That’s far more interesting than Gaia. But Gaia project is a great game!

Terraforming Mars is a game I absolutely loved when it first came out. But after playing many times I now hate it. Indeed it has elements that I personally don't like in games in general and I'm not sure why I liked it so much at first. (I don't like games with lots of cards that go into a Tableau with different rules that you have to remember during the game primarily due to my short term memory.)
As for game most played. Brass now know as Lancashire (not Birmingham)
When I played online I played well over 500 games and have also played over 100 games in person.
Final thought. I absolutely understand you not enjoying Container. As with all games it is bot for everyone. But it hurts my soul when you say it's "broken." I agree with you if you played 3 player in which case it is awful. But at 5 it is one of my favorites and also quite good at 4.
    Great Q&A

Oh yeah. And I'm all about correcting peoples terminology as well. It's important. Along that line is following the order of operations, even if the outcome may be the same. Because there are times it matters and if you get comfortable not following it then you will get confused when it does matter.
