  • The race for a production-ready solid-state battery (SSB) is heating up! But amidst the exciting advancements, one contender stands out: Tailan New Energy, a Chinese startup, has just unveiled an SSB boasting a staggering energy density - double that of any previously revealed solid-state batteries.
This breakthrough begs the question - how did they achieve this leap forward? And what does it signify for the future of electric vehicles?

If these SSB's are as good as is being claimed how long is going to be before one of the big players in the industry makes and acquisition. could you imagine how quick CATL or BYD could ramp up production. Battery packs with twice the capacity and half the weight of what we have know.

Well, 720 watt per Kg, but dead after 10 recharges. Still years of development needed.

720 it the next next next production batteries
First we have semi solid state of 360-400 wh per kg
Than basic semi solid state battery of 400-550wh per kg. Than advance solid state battery of 600+ wh per kg
The point is to make the battery lighter and smaller. When they will be ligher the chassis will be lighter too than you will need smaller brakes/smaller generators, smaller motor can be used if the car weight less.
When the car will weight less than 1000kg and the battery will have more than 60kwh we will see massive increase in range.

@@harelbenyosef8743 That's absolutely right. But the solid state battery is still not ready for production.

ev's are for obese retired old age bored pensioners who have free time, Not for busy working people, for this reason 60% of working people will never buy an EV, because of busy lifestyle, also public chargers costs 3 times more than petrol

Coming from the mind of just one person who came up with this showing disdain for busy working people that have actually have driven an EV .to complement their busy lifestyles. Know not what you don't know about.

You have no money to buy these cars, say u can't afford. just making useless comments.. People who can afford ev's or any other car for that matter are definitely rich and not lazy like you.. Weather Ev or non ev, a car is a car.. It costs money and it does the job of commuting people from one place to another. Infact ev's make life even more easier since u don't have to keep one hand busy throughout changing gears..
