  • In this video we show our diagnosis and repair of a 2022 Ford F150 that's displaying a Pre-Collision Assist Not Available message. The code in the cruise control module was B142E - forward looing sensor horizontal alignment. The alignment offset PID in the cruise control module was reading over 5 degrees off and after trying to recalibrate the cruise control radar sensor the cruise control module had to be replaced to repair the vehicle.

    Great info!!! Thanks so much for sharing. Shortly after installing an aftermarket Raptor bumper and fabricating a mount for the sensor I started geting the error code after seen your video and following the steps I was able to recalibrate the sensor and get the error cleared out. Again, thank you so much for sharing.

    I had a similar problem on my 2023 F-150 Tremor which I purchased new off the lot of an out-of-state dealer. My local dealer determined that the wiring connection at one of the sensors was not properly plugged in and I assume that was done at the factory. IMO that problem should have been discovered during dealer prep but was never addressed by the selling dealer who delivered the truck to my home from their state. I also found other things like factory assembly decals on the seat backs and pieces of tape on the power sliding rear window that should have been removed during dealer prep but were not. Dealer prep was either non-existent or shoddy at best. A more serious problem was that I also found body damage that the selling dealer eventually claimed was done by the company that shipped the truck to the dealership whom I assume the selling dealer ultimately filed a claim against. My local dealer also did the body repairs at no cost to me or my insurance company. However, if the damage was done before the selling dealer received the truck why didn't they repair it during dealer prep? BTW, the truck was built seven months before I purchased it and was delivered to me after dark which I believe was done intentionally so that I would not see the condition it was in. Before I purchased it I also viewed photos of the truck that were taken on the dealership lot and posted on their website and none of the body damage was visible in those photos. My original plan was to drive the 500 miles to the dealership to pick up the truck and drop off my trade until the dealer offered to deliver it for free. I wonder why (sarcasm)? Total BS from the selling dealer in Valparaiso, IN. Perfect example of why customers hate the whole buying experience and don't trust dealerships.

      Sounds like several people didn’t do their jobs properly. When vehicles are delivered to the dealer there’s suppose to be an immediate inspection that notes any damage and the delivery driver and a dealer representative have to sign off on it. If the dealer screws up and misses damage they generally get stuck covering it out of pocket. Pre delivery includes removing all the stickers and a test drive making sure everything works properly. It sounds like that wasn’t even done.

    • @blksn8k
      @blksn8k 8 месяцев назад

      Exactly. However, I don't believe for a second that the truck was damaged during delivery to the dealership. They came up with that story when questioned by my local dealership after I took it there for an estimate. I believe the body damage was done either during a test drive by another customer or by a dealership employee. I was also lied to multiple times by the delivery driver who I was told was an "F-150 specialist". In other words, a salesman. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if he is also the one who did the damage. Their story about it being damaged when they got it was, in my opinion, just a coverup. Too much evidence to the contrary. I will never know the real truth but the bottom line is that my local dealer, Spitzer Ford of DuBois, PA, did an awesome job of fixing everything and it didn't cost me anything but a lot of time and aggravation. To the selling dealer's credit, they did sell the truck at a decent discount and they gave me top dollar for my trade. However, none of that justifies the condition of the truck as delivered.

    Hi, I got a F150 where after a front crash the bumper and the cruise control module were replaced. After repairs done the Cruise adaptative control work fine but the collision warning does not, even the truck dashboard display does not show any pop-up malfunction warning. Everyting looks ok and working fine, but in reality the collision warning does not work. The way I use to check it is driving in low speed against a parked or stopped vehicle or anything on the street and no collision lights and sounds go off. So, what you think? . Thank you

      There’s two or three different systems depending on how the truck is equipped. Some systems use only a camera at the top of the windshield to recognize objects in the road. Others use a combination of the CCM radar sensor and camera. This time of year if you’re any where with winter conditions be aware that snow, ice or condensation on the windshield, camera lens or front bumper can cause a “Pre-Collision Assist Not Available” message. Even very snowy roads can cause this. The camera has a lot of trouble recognizing things when everything is white. In those cases it’s really just an informational message to let you know the system isn’t operating at that time.

      @@CarShopTalk thank you very much, I checked and I found that I only have the camera system, no radar sensors.
      I tested it and it works on " high sensitivity mode " but i got the alert when I'm very close to the car in front of me.
      I also noticed that it can see people better than cars.
      Also it can see the cars that are on my right side when I bypass them better than the cars on front of me

    • @CarShopTalk
      @CarShopTalk  11 месяцев назад

      It’s not tipped down or up is it? If the vertical alignments off to far off it won’t ever go past 0 when you drive it. Nothing is mounted in front of it or obstructing it? We do lifts and tires all the time. It shouldn’t cause any issues.

    • @TheZchauvin
      @TheZchauvin 11 месяцев назад

      @@CarShopTalk I did the tires and suspension, then put a camper shell. Put level on it and it was way off tilted up. Brought it to level and ran the check and it’s at .30°. @@CarShopTalk No idea, it’s not like the truck is higher in front than rear and I checked level on door sill - truck was level when I leveled the module out. Is there a way to see offset using forscan? We did the ccm calibration in forscan and the forscan alignment prompt goes away after driving ten minutes but cruise still does not work. Reset dtc but still get the same dtc b142e at next startup with no cruise function

    • @CarShopTalk
      @CarShopTalk  10 месяцев назад

      I think the maximum amount of time the cruise module will try to do the calibration is 10 minutes, then it times out. If it doesn’t calibrate in that amount of time something is wrong.
