The Last Jedi has stormed into theaters. The film is certainly one of the most complex films set in a galaxy far, far away so you’ll be forgiven if you didn’t catch everything on the first viewing. There’s a ton going on in the background that you may not have even noticed and we’re here to help you find them. For example, did you catch that Rey stole the Jedi books? Blink and you’ll miss it! Luke’s final reveal was actually telegraphed well in advanced in a masterful way. Supreme Leader Snoke actually has a piece of bling that harkens back to Rogue One! Speaking of bling, what were those dice that we saw a few times? Luke has a stash of trinkets at the tree on Ahch-To, one of them ties directly to Star Wars Battlefront 2 while another may be a reference to the beloved Knights of the Old Republic video games. We get our first look, sort of, at the first Jedi while at the temple with Luke and Rey. Did you think Rian Johnson forgot about the famous line “I have a bad feeling about this?” Think again! We got to see the old X Wing used in a very interesting way and get a call back to a character from Rogue One in the form of a ship. Of course, being Star Wars, there are a ton of cameos in the film that you likely didn’t catch either, some of them being quite obvious! So strap in for the video and enjoy the ride!

Hey, SR, as much as I loved this video, you missed one point. The one where Luke stood up to The Emperor and Darth Vader, the two most evil men in the Galaxy at the time, and he wouldn't kill his father because he saw the little bit of good in him, but somehow in this movie, he has a "thought" of killing his nephew because he sensed evil... His nephew.. that was nowhere near Darth Vader's Calibur. And also it's more than I thought.. a thought it just thinking it, he went through 3 steps. The thought, turning on the lightsaber, and then partially lifting it up to swing... That's more than just a thought. Lol, if you would've added that, it would've been perfect, but, it was still an almost perfect explanation of the movies flaws. Great job

Yup. I liked force awakens on first viewing but noticed some oddities and writing fuckups... didnt dwell on it and happily awaited the next part. Il even admit, i didnt hate it first viewing. Bits were crap but i was so happy it wasnt prequel cheese, all cgi, the fight seemed cool on a first watch. Was trying so hard to just enjoy star wars again. But i noticed it was a while before i wanted to watch it, or FA again... and that 2nd viewing just opened up so many questions. The veil slipped. This isnt what a classic movie feels like. My mind just went into overdrive picking at it...wow. What have they done 😬. Then you find some lengthy youtube massacres of it and its just ... theres no opinion in it. Its pure fact. Its fundamentally, catastrophically terrible from the ground up. Some surface level flash and pretty images over a genuine train wreck. Ive only just bothered to watch Rise....
Yep
@@randomsam949 There is a WHOLE LOT of agenda in TLJ. As more time goes by, I am beginning to think a motivated group of people deliberately trashed Star Wars. I know Disney paid 4 billion dollars for the IP. So, on a macro level, Disney wanted it to succeed. But, on a micro level, the artists and storywriters they hired? I think they had a (I know this buzzword is overused but it fits) "toxic" opinion of Star Wars. They wanted to tear down Luke Skywalker. They wanted to get rid of the space battles and the light saber battles and attack the concept of "the hero's journey". From a narrative point of view the movie is a near incoherent mess. I think its pretty clear that taking shots at the image of the "powerful white male leader" (both hero and villain) was far more important than a coherent story. I am increasingly convinced the whole project was a mean spirited exercise in cultural vandalism. It was a mean joke played on all of us.

You don't know what questions I had to ask... are we talking Lost or Star Wars?
Although in all seriousness he left after the first season. I think his original idea was something like purgatory, but the writers had a disagreement based on the fans guessing, and some other people took over. That's why its so messy.
JJ only participated in 3 episodes... in the whole series.
informeducateself I was a huge Lostie but you cannot argue with that haha
I love how Disney took one of the most successful, well known and loved franchises in entertainment history and just shot it in the face.
Well, to be fair LucasFilm kinda did that first with the Prequels
T DD The prequels are better than the sequels, they actually had characters that developed, had a plotline that actually leads somewhere and didn't crap all over established star wars lore
T DD Besides, the prequels aren't all that bad, everyone just likes to hate them
T DD prequels were bad, but they had a coherent story and tried to develop their characters, TLJ takes soo many unnecessary detours and has little to no attempts at character development.
The prequels are fine if you appreciate the mythology and story of the fall of the (Roman) Republic. Granted the movies are not nearly as entertaining, but that is why Lucas started with part 4
“So we’re taking everything the force awakens and throwing it away”
Literally the same pitch meeting for rise of skywalker

At this point I would have settled for an 80s style training montage for Rey obtaining her Jedi powers. Anything would have been better than "She's like the best Jedi ever.... because reasons"
80s style training montages are tight
Yeah she just is powerful for no reason.
Because “the force is female” (smdh)
They could actually fix her character arc, retroactively, by explaining that the force itself is using her to balance the imbalance of dark side power, and by herself she actually wouldn't be that special. Case in point, she had an opportunity to convince Kylo that a republic is fundamentally superior to authoritarianism, but she decided to fight him instead.
how does she is a wound in the force sound for a good fix?

SuperNavatar You see where Palpatine comes from, and it's explained that Anakin is the chosen one and a creation of the force... You have no argument.
Lucas made us wait 19 years after Palpatine's first appearance before we finally began to learn his backstory... 26 years to see him ultimately corrupt Anakin... 29 years from his first mention in A New Hope, from start to finish. So, ummm.... did we really expect all of the answers we wanted in 2 years?
Was nobody but me impressed that all the shitty fan theories were destroyed? It made me all warm inside. Took balls to do that, and was realistic as hell.
SuperNavatar ahaha what horsesh***. If giant plot holes, awkward attempts at humor, useless sub-plots and a few Deus Ex Machinas count for a ‘sophisticated’ film I’ll stay simple thanks. PS I have a bridge to sell you.
I said, "Wtf!!!???" many times during the film.
I love when he does things like
“Do you think the fans are gonna be disappointed?”
“What do you mean?”
Like he sometimes will act completely clueless. Fits the characters(writers) he’s portraying.
You know, he makes a really good point about the whole Leia space flight. That could have been a powerful and emotional end to her character. She could have floated off into space and then disappeared into the Force and people would have loved it. The way it was done was almost comical.
They wasted all of the deaths. Especially Mark and Carrie, the deaths of Luke and Leia. They fucked all of them up and it was the one and only chance. Disrespecting the beloved characters and respected actors, who had to spend their last years filming this trilogy and a total waste of their limited time. I think that this rises above the actual content of the films. (To all the fans defending Disney still and attacking people who are upset.) This whole trilogy has been a tale of pure incompetence and blind greed.
To everyone ever: Make sure defending a corporation is going to be worth it before you go and white knight for Disney, or Warner Brothers, or any studio. Same with the video game industry. People defend corporations and it never pays off for us.
@@sorryifoldcomment8596 I don't defend them and I do hate the Last Jedi from most standpoints bar being a watchable film, but people do attack new things too much.
They had to have Leia actually some force abilities at some point. It was a cool idea, they needed to just only show it from her pov, with the ship getting closer and closer, rather than showing it from a 3rd person view where it looked really fake.
Indeed. If they killed off Han Solo, they could have killed off Leia. And with the whole force thing, she could have talked to Kylo Ren as a force ghost and that would have been a better reveal than just kind of being around for a while.
Wow. I could hear Ryan Johnson saying "You've seen Lost right?
I genuinely think thats how he justified this movie to Disney
He was right
LucasFilm "He made Lost's ending? Hire this guy for ending the trilogy!"
"You've seen Lost, right?" was my favorite line in the video. Glad I wasn't drinking anything at the time or I would have spit it all over the screen, laughing. I can't think of Lost without feeling angry. What a waste of all the time spent watching the series.
Cat Woods the ending of lost was really well done. What else could you have asked for?
It was well done for people who were just in it for the characters (mostly the binge-watchers after the fact). But for people who were more into the mysteries, especially those who were waiting a week or an off-season in between each episode and had time to think about it, it was utterly disappointing.
But they managed to free the slave animals, so they said no matter what happens this was all worth it.
Not the slave children?
No, they're still slaves.
That part really got me! Haha!
Yeah, and Finn was a janitor and no one's complaining..........Disney thumbed EVERYBODY in this trash film!
To be fair, those kids where brats and at least aren't wearing Leia's slave outfit. Imagine if they where? Actually, don't imagine that.
you know those animals probably got captured again right lmao how far could they have gone
Not to mention the slave animals will probably be baited and caught a few weeks or months later. Maybe even killed and sold for meat as revenge. The children probably received a good number of beatings for their misbehavior. Finn and Rose didn't do a single favor for the people on that planet, just roughed things up a bit for a few days.
And those slave kids are the ones who need to clean up and repair the casinos...

I actually think his body dissolving and to see the hand drop in the sand would add to the gravity. It has a more lonely, sacrificial feeling to it. If only the people working on the movie actualy cared about those things.
@@somethingsomething7507 I mostly did this to reply to a reply to a reply. But also that’s is super deep I wish you were on the writing team.
Since the sequels are basically just a rehashing of the original trilogy, they gave Luke the role of Yoda. He's not the hero, so they couldn't show him as all-powerful and solving all the problems. Now unlike with Yoda, there was pressure to let him save the day at least once, so they struck a compromise.

She never had any expectation or reason to believe that they weren't "nobodies." GregTom2 Haha creative differences. Seems to be a big problem at Disney.
Chris Warmuth that why they keep fiering directors all the time
You realise that this is probably the most accurate interpretation of what happened, don't you?
I make films myself (short ones only so far) and I spotted that the shot of Luke vanishing was a last minute addition, roughly inserted. I also remembered Mark Hamill's face the night of the first premiere and realised what the expressions were on his face - the first was disbelief (otherwise known as 'denial') and the second, directed clearly in Rian Johnson's direction, was anger. Denial and anger are the first two stages of grief.
Why would he be grieving is the question you should ask yourself. If he already knew Luke was going to die, why grieve for his character? Unless - shock horror - he didn't know...
He DIES?! Luke Skywalker DIES? The Jedi who beat Darth Vader dies? How?

I was looking forward to him saying "so lukes a a child murderer now" "what?"
Like father like son I guess
This was better than the actual movie!
shove it then
You are right, this had humor, this had truth, this had depth, it had everything the film lacked, and was so much better for it.
understatement
Have her fly back like Mary Poppins 😂
Ash Done “I really like Mary poppins” lol
"I'M MARY POPPINS Y'ALL!"
- Taken from a far more interesting film
aegisghost guardians of the galaxy? Lol
aegisghost Ironically, Guardians 1 and 2 are two of the best star wars movies I've seen.
LMAO, you really nailed just how bad this movie was! Rian Johnson successfully subverted my expectations by making me never to want to pay to watch another Star Wars movie in a theatre again! Even after the prequels I thought I'd at least see every Star Wars movie in the theatre at least once! Rian Johnson is the master of subverting expectations no doubt!
Yep. I'll never pay for any film Rian Johnson touches. Isn't he slated to do more actual star wars movies too? 🤔 🤣 I won't even watch those for free.
@@myTERAexperience he was, then after Disney realised how awful the last Jedi was, they cancelled the planned trilogy with that round headed Buffoon at the helm.
@@oldschool8330 awesome. I may watch more star wars then. Lol
Bye Felicia.
"You seeing this?" - Why is that the best comedy line ever? Someone explain!
I love the part where Holdo's super secret genius plan gets everyone killed. That's so smart.
Did you even watch the film? Holdo's plan would have saved many people. It was Poe who got many people killed by not trusting Leia's friend. I know this is a last jedi hate page so I expect no one to think.
Andy Andy I think that Holdo couldn't have been any more suspicious about her plan. Was there any reason she had to withhold the information from Poe and the others? Maybe she just didn't trust Poe, but then you can't expect Poe to trust this person who is seemingly letting the crew die by doing nothing just because she's Leia's friend.
Andy Andy Do you even have common sense? She could have told poe her plan and he wouldn't have to suspect her, thus would not have acted as he did. I know you like to justify anything under the sun (even if it's objectively flawed), so you'll obviously disagree with me.
Paul Martin lol
Paul Martin yes well go watch the transformers then because those movies look cool but everything regarding the plot is trash if you...think
You guys nailed it.
fenderperry
both of them nailed it
B-b-but Kevin Smith reviewed it for an hour and a half and said it was amazing...didn’t have 1 bad word to say about it..
Yep
UFC Armchair Cornerman Kevin Smith's "review" felt more like his teleplay version. He basically just summarized the thing.
They totally nailed it.
Thats me as C-3PO and my friend Dan's R2-D2 at 4:49!
This pitch meeting was much more entertaining than the last Star Wars movies, especially episodes 7-9 and Solo!
this sums it all up way too perfectly
Nailed it SO HARD.
5:45 "What do you think of The Last Jedi? Where does it rank?"
Excellent phrasing. Imma say everywhere. It ranks everywhere.
Came back after the 300th episode (I think this is the first PM I ever saw), because they made a comment of how grounded it was. I love pitch meetings, I watch then as they drop to this day, but after rewatching this one I feel they became super hyperactive and filled to the brim with catchphrases. I mean you like every step of the way, every new catchphrase is cool and stuff but then you look at the whole picture and idk. I still really enjoy them, but I would like to see a chill episode, one catchphrase and more common and grounded dialogue.
Leia be like, "I'M LEIA POPPINS YA'LL!!"
all this reminds me of is a better sci-fi movie I could be watching.
Hahaha this is gold. It is almost exactly everything that i thought were wrong in the movie.
Andy Abdullah yeah me too. They forgot to mention the slow motion
I was so worried Mike was going to like it. Very relieved when I realized they all agreed with me.
1:43 funny thing is ROS basically proved him right...
"... you've seen Lost". 😂
I remember catching a glimpse of that show and releasing that they had no idea where that show was going.
Pretty much.. right on the money. The movie looks FANTASTIC and I was entertained but it all falls apart as soon as you start processing what you saw.
Royce12 true!
Exactly. Some people definitely haven't processed it yet. Some will like it no matter what, because.... like.......Star Wars. I had an hour drive home after the movie to think about it. By the time I was home, I had decided it was a bad movie, and not worth seeing again.
blackfrancis55 I humbly disagree, I’ve had two days to think about the movie and the more I do the more I like it.
Just like the plot of Mass Effect 2 lol.
Welcome to pretty much the same shit as alternate universe, where everything goes unanswered and everything is... well... expanded.
The last jedi is ranked lower than the family guy star wars specials.
That's cause it's way worse lol
And deservingly so!!
Not to mention the Robot Chicken specials
To be fair, the Family Guy Star Wars specials were great. The first 2 anyway. The 3rd was passable. The amount of attention to detail that went into mirroring shots from the film in big scenes was insane.
I'd put them low mid-table in the list of Star Wars films/tv.

Things JJ introduced that Rian Johnson destroyed:
- Rey giving the lightsaber to Luke
- the mystery of Rey's parents
- Snoke
- Snoke's cool star destroyer
- Kylo Ren's helmet
- Captain Phasma
Leia can survive blaster fire, explosions and the vacuum of space.
Luke dies from thinking too hard.
I saw this a couple weeks ago before seeing the movie yesterday. Recalling the comments from this video nearly made me spew my soda when I saw the scenes in the movie. Particularly the Mary Poppins scene. I wasn't sure that you were not making things up.
John Henderson IKR!!?!
I thought the "thrown in jail for parking wrong" and "Poe made a Yo Momma joke" were exaggerations. Guess who was staring at the screen in disbelief.
That was actually more entertaining than the actual movie.
Agreed
I'm glad you found you formula for making these vidoes.
I've never seen any Star Wars movie after Return of the Jedi, and these excellently-done critiques are making sure I never do. Thank you!
I'm so glad videos like this exists. Here to hoping the right people see it.
The Back of the Classroom the jews? They don't care
"We kind of baited fans for two years with questions like who's Snoke and now he's dead."
D&D: Just watch what we do with our *night king* in Game of Thrones. Muahahahaha!
(Hint: *8 years* )
Back at Disney: Go hire those guys! They know what's up.
@@jpesmar Disney: We always listen to our fans!
D&D will make an "Old Republic" trilogy!
@@StormflameMW if they(D&D and Disney) touch that peace of Gold and Diamond, they ARE DEAD!
@@abdelrahmanamr651 you're not up to date with the news, ha?
Damn, hack white dudebro screenwriters failing upwards in Hollywood are multiplying like the plague
After you watch several of these "super easy, barely an inconvenience" causes automatic laughter
I have been watching these pitch meeting videos for an hour straight when I am supposed to be working from home.
*ZERO REGRETS*
"She uses the force I don't know" that was probably the *REAL* explanation for that scene
Viper3220 And how did all those trained jedi masters die in order 66?
.... They

Forgot to have their shields up?
Maybe they weren’t expecting the soldiers they’ve spent years developing relationships with to just kill them without any regard.
Omg the accuracy HURTS
Its even funnier if you imagine Kathleen Kennedy and Rian Johnson. I can totally see this be their actual pitch meeting
The wobbly cam. I dying... 🤣🤣🤣
This is better than the movie.
JustARandomStranger that’s not to hard to accomplish
agreed
Best comment
So damn true
B-b-but Kevin Smith reviewed it for an hour and a half and said it was amazing...didn’t have 1 bad word to say about it..
Spot on. Bravo. Spot. Freakin'. On. You can't see me right now, but I'm slow-clapping. Well, actually, I'm typing. But when I'm finished typing, I will be slow-clapping, I can assure you.
So glad you dropped the camera shake in later videos.
ironicly the porgs and the crystal fox's were some of the only good things about the moive XD
Well... no?
I love how this video was both better written and more entertaining than The Last Jedi.
No it isn’t. This is nowhere near as bad as Batman and Robin. I’d even say it’s up there with Batman Begins.
Adam Clinton Batman and Robin is great compared to this movie. I didn't stop liking DC after I saw the movie, can't say the same about Star Wars
Better cast as well.
Well give the low bar it was super easy, barel-... well you get it.
Adam Clinton I guess Batman Begins had horrible character and story development then :/
I would love to see JJAbrams ignore everything from "The Last Jedi" the way Rian Johnson ignored everything from "The Force Awakens".
Snoke is still alive. Luke is still alive (and didn't try to kill his nephew in his sleep). Rey is actually somebody and had some training in her youth which she forgot (or was blocked), etc.
If Johnson could do it to Abrams, Abrams can do it back to Johnson.
Jim Alexander
I could just see it, Rae wakes up on the island with Luke, Luke tells he that sometimes you see things through the force that could be but aren't.
And Frank Morgan appears in the window wondering if she's alright, while Ray Bolger, Jack Hayley & Bert Lahr condescendingly smirk at her gullibility in believing it all to have been true.
In all seriousness, at this point, nothing could make this franchise any worse.
1:30 BEST PART hahaha the alien seacow!
This was brutal, and brutally funny.
the answer to what does kylo Ren look like without his shirt on:
S Q U A R E
He just looks *wrong*, like his head is too tiny for his massive chest and shoulders.
Has to wear a high-waist tight belly band because his tummy is round. Eats ice-cream when depressed.
@@MarcusTullman They shot him at a really fucked up angle. Not surprising given the rest of the direction.

The shape of EVIL!
I love this rant, best TLJ rant I ever seen great job. This is 10x better than the movie and didn't take away 3hrs of my life in the process.
