  • A few years ago I was in the market to buy a winter sleeping bag. They are really expensive and so I thought I'd share my thoughts on this bag to help some of you make a more educated decision when deciding what to buy.
This Softie Antarctica from Snugpak is a great choice. It's the most comfortable sleeping bag I have ever used. Packs small for a winter bag, and is well made. I own another that is warmer for extreme temperatures but this one is a really great all-round bag and I highly recommend it.
    Get it on Amazon here.

A guy I met used to have an outdoor shop and gave a lot away when he quitted his shop years ago. Now few months ago he said to me that he might have something left and had to search for it. He sent me a Snugpak Antarctica 2C for free.. woohooo! I am so blessed with it!

I run a softie kestrel 6 as my main bag. In cold temps I use a thermal sleeping bag liner, a rain cover and a wool blanket to add layers as needed. Makes for a sleeping system that is adaptable for all 5 seasons.

Believe it used to be -50°c rated but they had to change it because that rating was gauged from soldiers sleeping in full winter combat gear. Always wanted one but can't justify it haha.

Do you mean -7 degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit? They say the comfort temperature is -20 degrees Celsius. (-7 F is -21,7 C)

I probably mean Celsius. I live in Canada. I don't think I'd sleep in it in -20F

Yeah, I'm a heavy packer. I like to live in luxury. lol. I don't mind carrying the weight. Good training for the long portages come summer.

Nice video. What type of hoody/jacket are you wearing? I see that there are zippers on the side for venting I presume? Thx...
