Those little clips broke off on my clutch too- one of them on the backside of the clutch. My MS291 has never been a great oiler from new but now I'm going to take it back apart and inspect the pump carefully- I've only used it once since making the clutch repair and the bar got plenty hot during a half hour session of bucking.
Hi Mike, thanks for watching, I'm not sure how the 291 oiler works but this video takes a lot of the "mystery" out of them, at least for me. Good luck on getting yours to work for you. ruclips.net/video/IgKUtfrFqCE/видео.html
@@bioniclife all the bar oil does it there must be something in the oil because it does it to the case of a ms660 I worked on and had to change it could get a hole in after a wile
I'm digging the orange gloves on a Stihl repair video. Your marketing and branding publicist did a good job with the orange glove product placement.
I thank my Snap On neighbor
Neither one of my ms391 and ms271 saws are properly oiling! Time to disassemble and clean and inspect!

Do you have any suggestion on how to avoid this from happening in the first place? 🤔
I wish I did. I don't think I'd want to see what happens when framer engineering collides with German engineering. 😂
trust me I am a stihl mechanic I work on saws every day
Can this happen if somebody take down bar, then start the saw without it and rev it up to full throttle??
Good question. Hopefully, someone who knows can chime in.
Good catch. If you get the pump clean, JB Weld will work.
It's on the back burner, but I figured it will be worth the try. Thanks for watching! Your last name isn't "Weld" by chance?
No unfortunately. I have used JB Weld on many things and am always amazed how useful it is.
I'll be giving it a whirl over the winter.
the bar oil does it to
Do you mean the viscosity or is some oil corrosive? I have zero idea what was run in these. It could have been Muratic acid for all I know.

Interesting, pumps aren't super expensive but it is annoying to have oil leak everywhere. Thanks for the tip John!

Thanks, is good to hear someone benefited from the info.👍
