What else can be said if someone like this can share the stage with Guthrie Govan and Marco Minneman. And the song in this video is played live and recorded alongside the bassist and keyboardist who have previously played alongside the living legend guitarist extraordinaire Al Dimeola. Senri is such an accomplished musician who also writes her own music. and where time signatures are concerned, its mind boggling in her coordination. She is awesome. I've been playing the drums for 45 years and I don't know if this inspires me to try harder or to quit. Anyway, thanks for sharing. if you haven't seen Junna do the drum cover for "Through Fire and Flames" from Dragon Force, you should check it out. I've never seen anyone have so much fun playing the drums.
Man, she is one SMOKIN drummer! Absolutely incredible playing. I’m talking mind blowing. And that kit sounds so damn good! My god man. She is just amazing.
Senri is astonishingly great but who ever mic'd up that drum kit and mixed it needs to have a shout out! The kick and the toms...superlative! And Senri's choice of cymbals... The best I've ever heard.
Yeah Senri Kawaguchi was the youngest drummer ever to be named on the Drummers World website Top 500 Drummers list. That was until Yoyoka Soma made the list at 11 years old. Ian Paice of Deep Purple just put out a 2 min unsolicited "advert" for her original prog rock piece Sparkling. ruclips.net/video/VKmZeBG5A0M/видео.html
Yoyoka's covers are basically all phenomenal, especially in the 9-10 age range. She gets even better after but that childlike sensibility with world class pro level expression is amazing to behold.
Senri has given us thousands of great videos with all kinds of bands, music, solos and players. I think she's done more at her age than any other drummer. When she's in a band, she's always showcased with plenty of solos. I want (and glad to see) her zero in more on her own soulfulness and originality. And also drop some albums based on that, then hit a few year-long world tours so more people (outside of Japan), can go see her live. I would hope she could write or co-write some new music within the hard rock / jazz fusion / prog-techno-whatever genres and mostly avoid copy tunes. Senri should be more of an international sensation, not only a Japanese-centric performer. Senri has been one of the top drummers in the world since about the age of 12. She’s 25 now. All the top players want time with her and has recorded with many of the greats. She has a number of excellent jazz fusion albums and is always in 4 or 5 groups at a time. She even plays great hard rock prog fusion as well as straight on jazz. She did a lot of this while she attending college, too!! I've been following Senri Kawaguchi for more than a decade and consider her to be one of the best drummers in the world, Band-Maid the best Hard Rock band, The Warning to be the best original rock band, Hiromi Uehara the best jazz fusion pianist, Yuja Wang the best classical pianist, and Tatiana from Jinjer the best Metal vocalist -- amazingly, all women! Senri is one of the most tasteful drummers going around. Many testosterone filled male drummers tend to try and show off too much and their playing sounds more like a technical exercise rather than music. If you watch any of her videos her playing fits the music perfectly.
She also did mention her lack of muscle mass being a weakness but then she compensated for it with her complex techniques and turned it into a strength :')
I totally agree Steve this drummer is awesome. The drum sticks are an extension of her arms, this drummer is from another plant. I’ve watched Senri before and she’s always SUPER impressive on a drum kit.🥁👏
This was fun to watch. Amazing skills and feels. I love watching drummers, so of course I have watched Tony Royster Jr. If you havent seen that old clip of him when he was 12 years old (which I suspect you have:), then do it. That little guy gets my head spinning. Thanks! Have a great week :)
For me, as a drummer, and in a learning process as well, ther`s no doubt, Senri is today`s top female drummer in the world. Lots of dynamics, chops, sense of timing with hi hat work, and a very powerful sound around toms and snare combinations. I love absolutely her approach, and the perfect balance with the music.
There are lots of very, very good drummers in this world and she and Kanade Sato are right up there . Neither of them bash the kit like so many female drummers. They are true artists.
Been watching this young girl for years / young lady now ! so impressed by her playing ! she`s plays so clean ! # 1 she she love`s it , and it show`s !!! so very impressive...😊
Check out Senri Kawaguchi 'Blowin Luv' - it's 13 mins long but if you pick it up about 3 mins 30 in - it is truly utterly astonishing. At one point her right arm disappears she's moving faster than the video frame rate!
geez. that was killer. that kit sounded "delicious" a lot of fusion drums, its feels like the kicks can get lost or blur with the rest of what going on, but hers is a clear cannon of awesomeness. thanks for sharing. she's new to me. pardon me, ill be in a rabbit hole for the foreseeable future.

Her nickname is The Smiling Assassin because when she finishes a complex bar she smiles. A shorter video of hers is called Zildian Factory Tour and it’s insane! Japan has an amazing music scene. Many of the bass players use 5 or 6 string basses. As far as other Japanese drummers, Kanade Sato and Akira Jimbo. Fumiya, who is in Unlucky Morpheus a speed metal band, I believe was born in the Philippines and he’s been in other metal bands. South America has some incredible drummers like Aquiles Priester and Keiko Freitas.
Yoyoka is one of the best up and coming drummers of our time. At the age of 12, she has performed her own drum composition called "Sparkling", I believe you'll be pleased to listen to it.
Steve, to me Senri is the most mesmerizing and enjoyable drummer to watch in this world. check out the 16th Tokyo Jazz Festival . See if you would agree with me? Enjoy. also check out Kanade Sato
Senri. The best female drummer in the world. So it's not surprising that Yamaha provide the best drum technicians that they have available. Check out Senri's version of Statos.

I’ve actually only seen one of Junna’s videos. There is a reaction on my channel if your search for it. I should definitely check out some more. Same with Senri.
It's not that unbelievable or crazy. Senri is a Jazz/Fusion drummer and there are plenty of drummers that don't listen to Jazz/Fusion. Agreed: Senri can demonstrate technique at an absolutely world class level and still be utterly, beautifully musical.

Senri is the best. Thanks for checking her out.
Yoyoka is amazing. Junna is frightening. Bit Senri is incredibly sophisticated, far beyond her years, and she plays very musically.
She and Kanade Sato are far beyond their years.
I don't know why, but that drum kit sounds awesome. In particular, the toms are so deep and smooth sounding.
Started at age 5. Dvd at age 12. Japan live jazz record of the year at age 18.
Each of Senri's limbs has a brain of it's own.
