    I have had my R1T for 2.5 months and about 5000 miles. The biggest problem is not with the R1T its with the US charging infrastructure. In particular, Electrify America is horrible with the maintenance of their charging locations. I have taken 3 extended road trips over the past month and I have yet to visit an Electrify America location where all the stations work. Usually its 2 out of 4 stations that are in various states of disrepair. Recently, on a couple of long road trips, its been 1 out of 4 that are actually working with people waiting their turn to use it.
    But with regards to daily charging, and I charge at home, I don't even think about it anymore. It just works.

      Charging anxiety is real when you're dealing with the charging networks (aside from Tesla's).

    • @TheBlumfeld
      @TheBlumfeld 2 года назад +2

      The main reason is the EA is constantly updating their Hardware or software - they bring more 800V chargers, all green energy, and now they partnered with Siemens - there is always something, and I totally understand that can be annoying - I personally drove 26k miles in 1 year on an ID.4 and charged most of the time with EA. a lot of their location are very convenient, and worked well. one other problem is the (gasoline) mindset of EV driver, why do you need to block a 350kw charger with a leaf? Nobody knows! Also, many EV drivers charge 100% on a road trip, which is not practical and blocks the charger. But this will change sooner or later, and the more EV driver we have, the more charger we get. :)
      a quick tip: most Nissan dealers have a free 50 or 100kw charger - it helped me out multiple times :)

      Electrify America only exists because it was the penalty for VW and their emissions scandal. They probably didn’t buy the best equipment with the money.

      @@TheBlumfeld the infrastructure for EVs really need to be built out more. Some regions in the midwest like Indian have only a handful of CCS chargers. Western Massachusetts only has 1 CCS charger. There needs to be a universal charging network of quality working chargers.

    Hey, Jon. FYI, I took my family to Yosemite a few weeks ago in our R1T. We were pleasantly surprised to find free Rivian slow chargers in the lodge parking lot, right outside of our room. I’ll also say, of course we tend to get a bit of attention when driving around town, but Yosemite was nuts. I couldn’t go to my truck without having another 20 minute conversation. I always try to be a good ambassador, but that was the first time it really started getting old. Have fun!

I didn’t think I would use it that much but use it everyday and it has been a great safety feature. Also would love to see the home link digital rear view mirrors that would use the upper cab camera like a every other truck on the market and would make towing even better.

    I’ve had the R1T for about a week. Overall I really like the truck. It’s very well-built. I’ve taken it off road several times. It’s terrific absorbing bumps at high speeds as long as you are in off-road, all-terrain and standard height configuration. My initial wish list would be to have Lane centering or at the very least lane assist on non-driver+ mapped roads. I’d also like a way to configure the tension on the steering wheel and Excelerator pedal. I find both a little too firm when I’m just cruising around. It would also be nice if they had a trail control feature, essentially allowing cruise control when you’re in an off-road mode. When you select off-road mode it disable any type of cruise control. I’ve had both a jeep Rubicon and a Ford raptor which have some type of trail control which I used a lot.

    I’ve had an R1T for about 2 months now, and I have to say; It’s nowhere near perfect, but the concept is correct. Maybe in a couple years it’ll be what a daily consumer would need. from what I've heard, it's an amazing short range tow vehicle. super stable, insane torque, low center of gravity, self leveling, high end suspension. I will be towing with mine and I have a feeling that trailer aerodynamics and your towing speed will determine the range more than weight. If you tow @ 55mph you'll probably get 10% more range than towing at 65mph. Just a guess.

    I've been much more impressed with Rivian quality than I have been with any of the Teslas I've seen. Granted, I'm a detailer so I'm a lot more harsh than the average eye, but they seem to just be put together with a lot more care and thought.

    Everything you mentioned has nothing to do with it being a "truck" just ergonomics and gadgets. Many of us use trucks...well like trucks.
    You should be concerned about reliability. It has, theoretically, "less parts", but the parts it does have are more sophisticated and harder to find. If you break down in the middle of no where, the local service station can't help you. Also, a recent popular off road recovery RUclips channel had to rescue one from a trail near Moab because the steering arm snapped, so durability is a concern since it is being touted as off road capable.

    I hate to be a naysayer, but the truck doesn’t pass the litmus test. As a former EV owner, and current PHEV owner, the initial purchase price, for the value received is way too high. The common man (or woman) won’t be buying this truck.
