The front driver display does show the navigation. Pressing and holding the left steering wheel button will switch views from tire pressure, kW usage and nav.

Build quality alone has us locked in with Rivian. That combined with design, adventure capabilities, and company culture and it’s a no-brainer. Frankly we were considering the Mercedes EQS, Lucid Air, and Porsche Taycan Cross-Turismo over any Tesla before we ultimately decided on the R1T.
It’s great that you decided on the Rivian but your decision seems to be based on desire or use. It’s basically a truck. And I doubt people who are buying an EQS or Lucid were considering a Rivian.

I always say Tesla owners are the only ones who plug at a supercharger and walk away without caring to see the screen if it’s charging. That’s how reliable it is 😂
Not sure about the 20'a but the 21's and the 22'S in all-purpose mode in soft will get you the most luxurious and non-bumpy ride. Try that if you have not yet.

Thanks for taking the time to produce the review. I think most of your user UI issues would be resolved if you'd learned how to use them. Especially before doing a video on it. Seemed a little bit uninformed. Rivian will integrate active charging stations in navigation of you enable that function.
R1T looks amazing. But for my own personal use case I’ll stick with my Model Y since my garage is smaller and I never go off roading. Rivians future is looking bright!
Reverse the Rivian in the garage to get the charge port beside the charger
I was on the market for an EV about 2 months ago and went with the Tesla bc of the charging infrastructure. Every other car (Mustang Mach E, Ioniq5/EV6, bmw i4) we’re better built tbh. Specially the ford and the bmw. I test drove them and they were impressive. But… I swung by the Electrify America chargers recently and it was very disappointing to say the least.
Tesla will open their charging network to all non tesla ev. So people don't need to buy a tesla in order to use their superchargers
I like more Rivian R1S over Tesla model Y but one down side is waiting time is ridiculous long. Someone waited Rivian for 2 years. I ordered Rivian R1S and i cancelled then i bought Tesla model Y. No regrets.
If Tesla sold the technology for auto pilot/FSD to other automakers and opened its charger infrastructure, then yes

During the self-driving section of the video, he does not mention that I-5 in South OC has been and still is under widening construction in both directions for several years. The lanes change overnight sometimes as often as weekly depending on the construction locations. I know as I live in the middle of all the construction.

That construction never ends. It started in the early 90's and is still going on.
I have a Model Y but really want Cybertruck. I'm considering a Rivian just to have a truck, but charging on road trips is my primary concern.

I’m pretty sure highway plus only works on the current mapped roads. That’s why it works on some roads, Vs others.

I am looking for the best driver assistance system for freeway driving. Should I go with a model y with FSD (12 coming soon) or a rivian with their highway assist? Thanks!
Going to be doing another video with the R1S soon. Back then the driver assistance wasn't the best like other cars. I feel like Tesla is still above and beyond with "self driving" still

Rivians look good except the front lights look dumb like they're a character from the Cars kids movie
$.43/kw at EA is because you did not subscribed to a monthly subscription, just on 1 charge you would have made your money back and then some. Also tesla suerchargers on peak hrs. (If you can call it that, its really all day except from midnight to like 8 am) are at $.58/kw so superchargers are not cheap anymore.

What was the reason for Driver+ disconnect at Dana Point? Does it not work on certain sections of freeway? If so, why?
It is like Ford BlueCruise, it is geofenced, only pre-mapped/approved highways are enabled. :(
Tesla AutoPilot (standard) works EVERYWHERE! (even remote national parks etc w/ no cell signal).. though on city streets etc obviously it won't do red lights/turns etc, just lanekeeping & speed, you need FSD for that

any electric vehicle besides Tesla seems like SUCH a drag just with the charging alone, supercharger network is so nice.
It won't let you click on a charger icon to view it's details if you already have a route in progress. You have to stop the current route then click a charger icon. I find that very annoying and hope they change it sOOn.

Why? Do you have the non U/S version? I have the 360 view on my lightning and it's warped looking. I just don't trust it as much as I do my MY radar line view. Maybe it's just time of use... I even set up some boxes to test and the object moves faster at a certain distance away. It's really disorienting.
Tried backing up to your garage? That charger would be in a perfect spot 🤷🏼♂️ just a though.

It's weird explaining the Rivian features to the youtuber who is posting videos about the Rivian features. My tip is simply study the product before said video production then talk with some authority. The whole bumbling through the learning process is not really worth my subscription. But I do appreciate your candid honesty and old worldly 'virgin' discoveries are genuine. Car product reviews are always best digested when presenter appears to have done their research. I’m waiting for my Cybertruck. The charging network for our Model Y has us spoiled. Pull up, plug in and walk away. No cards, apps, PIN numbers, non working chargers, etc.
Yeah. All these other EVs look nicer inside but tesla addressed what matters which is the charging convenience. They need to fix the lines though. They should make it as an appt so you don't have to stay in line. Like a reservation amd charge you starting at that time. It's ridiculous to waste time on line to charge and it's unsightly for the parking garage and some aholes fine a way to cut the line.

I agree. The R1T is selling well right now because the Cybertruck is not in production yet. Rivian leadership must be thankful that the CT keeps getting delayed.
The people buying Rivian right now will regret getting their Rivian once Rivian updated it's battery technology and started losing its weight. There were assumptions that Rivian stole parts of Tesla first gen technology ADAS or autopilot which can be seen through their UI system. Charging Armageddon is coming soon to non Tesla electric car will be horrible within 1-2 years. One would have think that Rivian would already had installed charging stations in most National Parks at least by now
Coming to Tesla too since they are opening up the Tesla stations to non-Tesla vehicles in order to get the tax credits from Uncle Sam.

Battery technology needs to make some huge strides in storage density before they challenge real trucks. My diesel pickup could travel ~300 miles while towing two Rivians. Maybe hydrogen cells will be the answer.
