Actually just did my department qualifications a few weeks ago and did exactly as you're saying since I've been practicing and it makes sense. Range-master instantly does the old, "they don't go in your magazine pouch!" I responded with you're line, "I don't practice reloading out of my pockets I practice reloading out of my mag pouches and I only have 3 magazines on patrol." You could see the realization come across his face and the "man that makes sense." Keep on making the videos brother, they are appreciated and used by guys all over in our business.

I really appreciate these videos, even some of the best shooters I have met in PDs and most of those guys dont cover any of this. They always teach that scan and reassess when like you say Bill there are more important things at hand. I really appreciate all the great info and as always just staying a student. Thank you

Regarding the type of incident that you asked about, I believe there was an incident in Nevada where after an officer engaged one person, security camera caught a second that came up behind the officer, pointed a gun at his head, pulled the trigger, but the gun malfunctioned. Person ran away and officer didn't even know it happened until reviewing the security footage later. This incident was brought up in a class I took in Las Vegas.

Great info and well presented. As a fellow professional Instructor in other areas, may I suggest that slow done your speech down just a little bit. Your talk very quickly and sometimes I have to lesson to your thoughts a couple of times to really get what your saying. It's all great information and I didn't want to miss a word of it. Love the Tech reload method a LOT!

I'm curious if there are many recorded incidents of a police officer(s) in an engagement where he used or needed the rounds he retained in the partial magazine?

      Still very curious about this

Probably not. Most badge cams I see, the officers don't even get a chance to reload at all. But it's always good to train for the 1% of situations where you might need

I've been studying OIS as well as civilian engagements since 2005 and been working in LE since 2011. I've never seen it happen and the chance of it happening is pretty much a statistical zero imo.

You're right on in the civilian suburban world . I like ideology behind it . Do you think the protocol changes upon the situation moving to the inner city . Wherein there could be gangs - gang members and or some with some domestic violence encounters , especially in the inner city . What was once the victim could quickly become the next bad guy . assuming her boyfriend just got shot etc .

The tactical reload I most often see for a rifle is with the mags in an "L" configuration. Why can't you also do this with your handgun mags? Seems to me you would want one consistent way to do things instead of 2 different ways.

ronin2167 pistol mags are small and fit entirely in the gun where rifle mags still have a lot to hold onto when inserted.
