Bought 3 of these. 6000 btu. 1st one failed under warranty / icing issues and no cooling after about 6 months. GE sent me a check for the amount I paid for it. 2nd one is a champ and works great. The 3rd one which replaced the 1st one is now starting to become noisy. Not the compressor but a rattle even when just running the fan that is too loud to be able to sleep with. I'll be taking off the cover and taking a look. Not too impressed with GE. 2/3 with issues. #2 and #3 do cool extremely well. In S.D the summer can be very hot. Had 107F outside with the sun beating down on the wall. Was able to easily keep the 250 sq ft room at 74F.
I am pleased with this air conditioner. It’s extremely quiet compared to the smaller unit we were using. Would buy again if we have no issues in the near future.
Good video. Was hoping to see how to get the battery tray out of the remote. It seemed like removing the small screw on the back at the bottom should do it but...not mine.
I don't know about the filter design, while easy, just as stuff collects on the filter, it collects where the filter _is_ as well, I'd like to be able to get in there a little to clean it up.
have the same one , bought around 2 years or less and used it for a few months only and just went to power it up and was getting 88 with all lights on ....sux that they break sooo easily
@@scarlettandaprilmeredith1894 i ended up hard wiring it and using a smart switch for it .. problem is I forgot one day to change the settings on my smart switch and the unit froze over since it was just on constantly
in cool mode it runs the fan continuously and shuts the cold air off when the temperature in the room matches the temperature you set it at and only blows room temperature air. On eco mode once temperature is reached it shuts off the cold air and fan so no air blows at all. hes wrong about outside air. It recycles inside air even if it’s on fan only mode
@@brothermyboy8226 he’s right but imo i like to use the energy saver during the day when i’m not in the bedroom. we have central air anyway so i just set the window ac to 77° and on energy saver and i put the fan on auto. yea the temp swings a little bit but idc about that unless i’m in the room. At night i’ll back the temp between 66°-71° when i’m sleeping depending on how i feel.. and i’ll run the fan all the time. as far as in the video i disagree with him saying that low fan is useless because low fan makes it so it takes a longer amount of time for air to move through the evaporator coil thus taking more water out of the air.
How do I clean the Styrofoam on the inside of the air conditioner? It looks like it’s starting to have black mold on it and I have asthma. So I’m trying to figure out how to clean the inside of the ac. Help
I noticed you didn't talk about the dripping of the water I have mine slanted down just a little bit so the fan picks up some of the water and blows it on the condenser
How’s the draining going does the water tend to dDd eddddjusdddtdddddddDdddd ddddddhDdddsang around in there ? The fan spdins in the back spitting the air at thde compressor to keep cool. But. When I t durn D it on after a few hours or a day there’s the same water in it. Not draining properly and I have it tilted. Says not to pull drain plug
1:52 What brand was the old unit? How long did the old one last? Is the new unit quiter than the old one or the same? Fan noise doesn't really bother me, but the "bump" when compressor starts can wake me from sleep.
just bought a newer unit and dont know how to shut the green display lights off at night..in the previous unit they shut off after 2 mins...does anyone know how to shut those green display lights off at night?
I have this same exact AC unit and it was working great but now it doesn't accumulate water from the condensation anymore ! When I try to drain it there's no more water that it holds so it's completely dry ! I noticed that because of this it doesn't cool like it used to anymore ! What can I do to fix that ?
Shouldn’t have to make wooden spacers. This thing is too high maintenance. Nothing quiet about this. Cold air yes. Pain to fit in any window. Yes. Has to be on a tilt or water will not drain and same water that’s been in the pan just keeps being reused. Not healthy for ac or . Breathing.
I have the same unit. Bought it last summer. Turned it on this summer, it keeps cutting off. Completely off. Cleaned filter out still cuts off. Anyone know what's causing that ?

I have a 5,000 BTU midea window AC its awesome unit so far.
The one I had quite blowing cold 2 months of owning it now I got the ge 6000btu and now I'm happy
The fan is just a fan. The outside and the inside are completely separated.

They have multiple versions with the same look, the link he posts in the description doesn't even show the same one he has here.
Sold Thank You Great Video
Basics nicely covered thanks
These suck I saw someone have it and it won't work.
I like the energy saver feature it does help lower your energy bill.

I'm sorry but you have to know the actual truth about this feature.

I need to know too

Should I take the back drain plug out or leave it in .please help
My air compressor is not kicking in only the fan works any tips?
I’m happy I bought this kind
What’s the lowest it goes. I’ve noticed that the higher BTU ones go down to 60 or so.
I just got this same one, its in the window of a 123 sq ft room, it effortlessly turns the room into a freezer ha ha.

To clean the filter
So how do you open the remote to change the batter?

Low on Freon
These units are pieces of garbage. Mine blows literally no air at all.

The general electric air conditioners are by far the best window units ever made...i have 3 and they they crank...i wont buy other brands
Would anyone know why this unit freezes instantly after turning on?
If the unit was EVER turned upside down, then there's oil contamination in the compressor lines. Toast
It looks like a microwave lol
