I left the church as a young person because it was not a place where Jesus was. It was a little kingdom build by men to lord over. It was full of hypocrisy and judgement. I found Jesus years later all alone in my living room. I have met so many people who were traumatized and wounded, deeply, by "the church".. what they really mean is that they were wounded by religion. If your "church" is just a religious gathering with rituals and some mini lordship of pators and deacons, full of drama, worldly politics and the world, your young people are going to get run off. You need a spirit filled, spirit lead place where the gospel is preached and needs are met and disciples need to be prepared by the gospel and then sent out INTO the world to continue the great commission. If your "church" is not doing that, if it is self serving with its festivals and coffee and donuts and the once-a-week spiritual dump by some pastorman, then you're just a religious gathering. The body of Christ has to function as God intended or you end up with this result. The church I went to had all homeschooled kids and I saw so many of them blow up their lives as young adults because they had NO experience in tolerating the world, no spiritual warfare knowledge AT ALL, they had no skills in how to handle the world and they were so restricted and sheltered that as soon as the world was presented to them on a platter, they went bananas for it. I hope this helps a parent somewhere. LIVE THE LIFE that God gave you. Speak often of him in a way that glorifies him. Don't use God as a weapon against your children. Help them consider God in every choice they make and how they treat others. Don't cram bible study down their throats, talk about it, live it out, make the Lord Jesus a daily presence in their minds. Let them make mistakes and then help them examine those mistakes through the word of God. Know your actual bible, know the TRUTH about the fall, the fallen angels and how all of this culminated into the crazy world we are living through right now. Have answers for them when they want to know WHY?? Acknowledge the kingdom of darkness and its entities and gain knowledge on the truth of them so that you are not a sitting duck and your children are left totally exposed to the enemy. ACTUALLY know the Lord Jesus Christ so that you can be lead by God's Holy Spirit. This is not some religious motion you go through, it is a real relationship with God the Father. If you do not have that... stop and examine yourself and the situation. You can lead your children into religion or you can help your children form a relationship. Religion is forced on to you(like a physical or sexual assault), relationships are formed over time by experiences, trust, love, understanding, knowing, etc Look at how you are leading your children and ask yourself, which is it you are doing?

I agree with much of what you said but I do believe there are SOME who say they have been hurt by the people of the church as an excuse to avoid spiritual truth. While I understand there are definitely people who claim the name of Christ who don’t care at all about Christ or His Church or the lost, there are also a whole lot of people who do love God and awhile still sin because we all still sin so we hurt people as a result. There is a difference and lost people many times will speak out of both sides of their mouth. They will say that a church congregation just smiles and chit chats when they visit and they seem fake but then when people let them in the non-believer sees the church person is a sinner and dismisses them as a hypocrite. Being hurt by the church is not an acceptable reason in the Bible to not accept Jesus and we are supposed to gather together as God’s church when able.

I pray there are many who see as clearly as this. A trainer must have been trained....in understanding the never changing holiness of God, in recognizing the absolute need for repentance, in understanding what it is to be born again and have Jesus know you, to be learning and increasingly producing the fruit of the Spirit while being trained in the gifts of the Spirit which equip you to help build up the body of believers.

I'm a Christian and a martial artist. I have never considered using the same training philosophy in my Christian walk as I do in my time in the gym. It makes total sense that we should do this. If one wants to be strong and resilient enough to weather a storm, he must know what the storm can throw at him but also be exposed enough to the abuses the storm has so as not to be shocked by them when he faces them. This has triggered a paradigm shift for me. Thank you!

I’m a mom to 3 kids. I grew up going to church, and being involved in church activities, but my walk with the Lord has really changed in the past several years. I began wanting to have more knowledge and deeper insight into scripture, and I wanted that for my kids too. My two older kids are in the youth group at their church, and our youngest is in 5th grade, but we do not rely on the Wednesday night service or the Sunday morning sermon to be their only instruction. They read their Bibles every day. We have them do Bible for a class since we homeschool, we listen to Christian podcasts and Christian apologetics and sermons at home too. We talk to them and try to show them what to do and how to live by being examples. We allow them to ask questions and we talk to them honestly and don’t sugar coat things of gloss over things.

This hit home for me. In high school I enjoyed youth group and summer camps. But in between my freshman and sophomore years of college my two childhood buddies died at 18 and their bodies were not found. I quickly went from enjoying the fun side to questioning if Christianity was real. Thankfully I was a student at Biola University and transitioned from being taught Bible classes to digging in and deciding if this is something I will truly believe and live. I’m now 60 and have tried to apply the Bible in my walk. I have some bumps and bruises along way, but my strength and abilities have grown too.
I say the above with humility because God’s hand has been there the whole time.

I don't think it matters THAT much how we do Sunday school. What matters is how you disciple your child at home. Do you pay your taxes? Do you blaspheme the name of God? Do watch horror? Do you speak with respect about other people? Your children are watching you and this is how they truly learn about faith and the power of the cross. Disciple your child to taste the presence of the Lord and they will never depart

    • @Hazmatt3446
      @Hazmatt3446 2 месяца назад +3

Yep. Living the faith is the best discipleship. Every challenge a parent faces is an opportunity to teach and train. “Raise a child up in the way they should go and in their old age they will not depart from it”. That’s not ‘do as I say, not as I do’

New Testament teaching places less emphasis on rules and regulations and more emphasis on identity in Christ Jesus.
The strategy we used with our children was to teach them to personally know the Lord experientialy.
When this happens, the Holy Spirit himself begins to teach them the way of life. It works when we emphasise relationship, letting them know that God is their Father.

    • @PlagueNurseOpal

That stuff matters, but even without it, you children still won’t stay in the faith. Sunday school, also is unbiblical and is garbage baby sitting and entertainment for parents who were sold a cheap bag of tricks and fail to parent, educate, and prepare their children for the world. Now we have a 70% fall away rate in the church from our children. Children should be in the main service with the parents. They should be engaging in family worship every day. Being a part of faith training all throughout the day.
““These are the commands, decrees, and regulations that the Lord your God commanded me to teach you. You must obey them in the land you are about to enter and occupy, and you and your children and grandchildren must fear the Lord your God as long as you live. If you obey all his decrees and commands, you will enjoy a long life. Listen closely, Israel, and be careful to obey. Then all will go well with you, and you will have many children in the land flowing with milk and honey, just as the Lord, the God of your ancestors, promised you. “Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. “The Lord your God will soon bring you into the land he swore to give you when he made a vow to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. It is a land with large, prosperous cities that you did not build. The houses will be richly stocked with goods you did not produce. You will draw water from cisterns you did not dig, and you will eat from vineyards and olive trees you did not plant. When you have eaten your fill in this land, be careful not to forget the Lord, who rescued you from slavery in the land of Egypt. You must fear the Lord your God and serve him. When you take an oath, you must use only his name. “You must not worship any of the gods of neighboring nations, for the Lord your God, who lives among you, is a jealous God. His anger will flare up against you, and he will wipe you from the face of the earth. You must not test the Lord your God as you did when you complained at Massah. You must diligently obey the commands of the Lord your God-all the laws and decrees he has given you. Do what is right and good in the Lord’s sight, so all will go well with you. Then you will enter and occupy the good land that the Lord swore to give your ancestors. You will drive out all the enemies living in the land, just as the Lord said you would. “In the future your children will ask you, ‘What is the meaning of these laws, decrees, and regulations that the Lord our God has commanded us to obey?’ “Then you must tell them, ‘We were Pharaoh’s slaves in Egypt, but the Lord brought us out of Egypt with his strong hand. The Lord did miraculous signs and wonders before our eyes, dealing terrifying blows against Egypt and Pharaoh and all his people. He brought us out of Egypt so he could give us this land he had sworn to give our ancestors. And the Lord our God commanded us to obey all these decrees and to fear him so he can continue to bless us and preserve our lives, as he has done to this day. For we will be counted as righteous when we obey all the commands the Lord our God has given us.’”

I have 5 grown children (ages 18 to 26) who still go to church where they live. At least, they tell me they do (I believe them, but they don't live in my town, so how can I really know?) and they join my wife and I at church when they come home. We live Jesus as best we can and talk to him and pray to him. We taught our children the faith and gave them the freedom to leave the church if they wanted. We gave them boundaries and forgave them when they crossed those boundaries.
If you are a young parent, it is worth blessing your children with Jesus and there is plenty of hope for their future. But you have to understand that God did not force you to come to him, but you came to him because of love. Teach them and love them like Jesus does.

Kids grow up and leave the church because their parents are hypocrites. Children are smart and they see right through the fake. Having a form of godliness, but denying the power of God to change your life. Parents don’t have to be perfect. But their relationship with the Lord must be genuine. Children will respect that, and when they are old they will not depart from it.

I became a Christian at 23 on my own. I didn't grow up in a church and nor had Christian parents. I was somewhat thankful for it because I didn't experience confusion - going to church (in which I would have not wanted to do), hearing about how to be, and then seeing my parents not acting the way they should. When I became a Christian (from a Pentecostal church), my parents didn't like it.
I have "witnessed" to so many over the years, especially those in their 20's. They all said the same thing when rejecting. They'd say, "I went to church with my parents when I was much younger. I didn't like the way they acted". So those are very hard to convince. Some say they have a relationship with Him, but it seems like their lifestyles says differently.

Absolutely disagree!! After 20 years in the classroom (and, prior to that a 16-year career as a digital switching engineer), I know that teaching and training are equally important. That is why home-schooled children from Christian families are 1) tops academically and 2) do not generally leave the faith. The primary reason for young people leaving the faith is lack of parenting -- either mom and dad are both pursuing careers or there is only a mom in the home. That is the reason for young people leaving the faith. And, of course, disenchantment due to parental divorce.

    • @John-fk2ky
      @John-fk2ky 2 месяца назад +23

That’s not the main reason. Young people have repeatedly answered surveys saying that they have questions about the Bible that they’re never given answers to. The stuff you mentioned obviously affects some people, but actually asking young people why they leave the church would tell you that a lot of them leave due to a lack of answers.

If you teach apologetics to unregenerate kids and neglect the saving Gospel, you get mini, graceless pharisees who will absolutely leave the church the minute they get out from under their parent’s roof. Churches need to know that not only is the Gospel the power of God to save at the initial regeneration, but it is also the power and motivation in which we live out this life in Christ. Too many leave the Gospel at the door and think, “it’s time to get busy now”, instead of unpacking its many glories and facets that fuel our love, worship, prayer, evangelism, and obedience.

My son walked away from the church when he was about in 7th grade. He spiraled out of control into drugs, drinking, and motorcycles. The drugs came earliest. The drinking and cycles came when he got a license. He dropped out of school in 10th grade I believe. 9-10th. My husband wws gone from the home for work about 12 hours a day but it was evening shift. He took very little part in raising our son and even though he himself was raised in the church he hadn’t accepted Him as Savior. Everything was dumped on me. He went to work, came home, sat around drinking about 3/4 case of beer-sometimes less, sometimes a couple of glasses of scotch made an appearance . All the while giving me a blow by blow detail of his day. That was our conversation with each other. Actually it was his conversation with me since he talked snd I listened. Each time building up more and more hatred for a job that was taking my husband further and further away from me. We didn’t go on vacation together because all he ever wanted to do was go fishing. And since his uncle wouldn’t ask anything of him, they went together.

If we serve and worship a Living God, then why do we need to control our kids so much? The best Bible study is living out our lives as parents - imperfect, making mistakes, but loving and firm, going on our knees regularly to seek guidance and wisdom from the Lord to parent well. To apologise to them when we make mistakes, to be open and honest with them about our own struggles (they will surprise us with their wisdom and discernment!) and above all, to be their friend.
All this is from my own experience and has served me well.

I agree we should train but not just the youth. All Christians need to be trained, equipped and sent out. The issue is most churches are just social clubs were people gather together in the air conditioning to sit, be seen and maybe listen.
The pastors job is to train others to do. The entire church model seems to miss that very important scriptural mandate.

I agree with this concept of this type of teaching. However, he
didn't make any reference to telling the students that they first need to recognize their sin, repent of it, and dedicate their minds and hearts to Jesus Christ. Baptism was also required by the Lord. Only then can these young people truly understand the teachings and be dedicated to learning to be equipped to testify of their faith.

One hundred percent. You can know the Bible but if you aren’t familiar with the history that surrounds it, you might get blindsided by some atheist professor who tells you your faith is merely borrowed from other ancient religions. You might think the New Testament was canonized too late. You might question a lot of things. You might even buy into progressive Christianity. It’s important to know what you believe and why.

Most normal parents will admit that they aren't perfect and make mistakes, which includes owning them. When and if they aren't able to fill in the gaps, yes it does welcome the idea that the kids feel they are failures because they trusted in their own flesh and blood. It's either that, or things will come into the child's mind, heart and or room that should not be there. This actually happened to me, but thankfully I have lost interest in what I had gotten myself into. Watching horror movies didn't want to make me leave the church, but it I got numb.

This man is using what God avails so that Christians are provided both theory and practice.
You can not live life through the lens of just reading. You have to live it yourself which means applying and practising what you have learned.
So, training is elementary and essential to teaching as they need to putvit into action in dealing and facing the world. Training provides a safe environment for people to put into practice, practise and practise, and face the problems they may encounter so that they can comprehend, understand and learn what truly is God and what God want people to do on Earth.
Training engages people to DO it and not just reading and understanding theology.
Training incorporates teaching, engahing and showing people what, when, why, who and how to deal with people in the circumstance.
That is what Jesus Christ did in his journey, sojourn and walk on earth. HE taught and trained his deciples.

It is irrelevant for one today to ask whether he or she can lose their salvation since salvation was ever only about Israel and Judah (Hebrews 8:8). If the premise of the new covenant was made for the two Houses, then it follows that whatever story of redemption the Bible has doesn't have any application to anyone today or even back then post-AD70.
According to Paul, writing in the late AD50s to mid AD60s, the gospel had already gone out to the nations, all the earth, the whole world and to all creation (Rom 10:18, 16:26, Col 1:6, 23). This proves that New Testament terms like world, creation and nations were part of a limited Israelite context, one that doesn’t involve people today.
The gospel went out to the nations because that’s where the covenant world of descendants of the tribes of Israel (Abraham’s descendants) had been dispersed to (Deut 4:27, 28; 30:1; Jer 30:11; Micah 5:7, 8 Dan 9:7, Acts 2:5, James 1:1, 1 Pet 1:1). The world the gospel was intended for was the covenant world, not our world. The covenant world has already been blessed.
All that was left was the end to come, which Jesus said would happen in their generation and which John said the would “soon take place”. The time (their generation) and people meant for the gospel (those under the law, Jews and gentile descendants of the tribes of Israel) came to an end, in AD70. We see all Israel gathered into Christ, saved, sealed, and redeemed in Rev 7. Not a single non-Israelite in view. The story ended in the first century. We weren’t part of the story.

Start looking into the origin of life, evolution, the great flood to start!
Some examples of questions to ask yourself.
What does the prevailing theory say? What was the catalyst for the "big bang"? How did something the size of an atom expand VERY fast, then create everything, then suddenly stop and change speeds? Just how did hydrogen, helium (that can not interact or combine with ANY other elements), and a little bit of lithium manage to create everything we see now? How did all of that fit into a dot the size of an atom? Where does hydrogen, helium and lithium come from, how are those elements formed? What about the cosmological lithium dilemma? There should be at least 3 times more lithium than what is observed.
Where did the ATP first come from, needed for ATP synthesis? Especially being as ATP is not naturally occurring and can ONLY be made by the bio-machinery that NEEDS ATP to be created and to run to make ATP (a chicken and egg scenario)! Who do we still see energy still in the universe (according to the second law of thermodynamics, entropy) there shouldn't be any left now if the universe is infinite.
Why do we see extremely complex animals at the very beginning of the fossil record? Trilobibtes are very complex, especially the eyes!
Look up Michael Behe, irreducible complexity. Dr. James Tour, origin of life synthetic chemist. Mathematician John Lennox. Look into Answers in Genesis, Standing for Truth with Donnie and Matt (they participate in many debates from science to theology).
Personally I also have looked into Genesis 17:12, about circumcision. Ask why the 8th day? Why not 7th, 3rd, 12th, 40th? Vitamin "K" production and prothrombin time PEAKS ABOVE 110% on the 8th day of life and does not do this ANY other day on a man's life! What are the benefits of Vitamin"K"? What are the benefits of circumcision? According to the scientific community, why is the 8th day the best day to perform a circumcision? Although there are religious reasons involved too, isn't it wondrous how hard core science fits PERFECTLY in this very tiny window of time! Who during the time Genesis 17:12 was written would have known this.......but GOD!!!
HOPE some of this helps! This is just s speck on the tip of the iceberg!
Oh, and as a bonus: did you know that there is a 6.3 magnitude earthquake recorded in the rock layers at the time and location of Christ's crucifixion?!! Yeah....GOD IS GREAT!

Clever putting teaching down as a stand -alone at first and then later putting it in again in the context of training. But what he's doing is teaching....but it's all (extremely helpful) application. It's all very Biblical. He just hasn't stated the biblical teaching foundation on which his brilliant teaching application is based. (Eg, "Be ready at all times to give account of the reason for hope you have to those who ask you." But do it with gentleness and reverence" But there are other elements of teaching that need to be laid in, like loving your opponent, of demonstrating our faith with compassion. Etc ) Eventually, his foundation for training (Eg, where is it built upon Christ as the cornerstone?) will get questioned, and then teaching will be needed to spell that out. But he's right, teaching without actionised application is not just useless but even dangerous. We must not just be "hearers of the Word but doers also"

Another couple of reasons why young people don’t go to church, don’t want to go, or are leaving the church are:
Indifference from christians toward living out our faith and attending church in regular basis. We don’t convey correctly the importance of church in people life.
Christians becoming judgmental at every opportunity.
Bad witness toward the none-christian world with all the arguments and fights from one church to another, one pastor to another or one denomination towards another.
Lacking of willingness from the christian community to understand the way young generations understand life. Older Christian generations don’t want to go where the young people are in their struggles, we want them to come to our world.

You can't force it on people. They have to find the truth on their own in their own time. Shoving it down their throat will only push them away. If it takes a child 60 years to come to Jesus than so be it and if they dont than so be it. Nothing you do will affect whether or not a child comes to Jesus.

Young people are leaving the church because the church is fake. Just listen to them trying to figure out how to grow the church. It's always some kind of strategy like a business looking for customers. If the church wants young people in church then it need to create some real churches. Church is a place for saved people to network together as they go about their fathers business it's not a country club or a comfortable place to invite people to hear preaching. It's not where people get saved it's where they go after. Saved people are fearless and selfless and about their fathers business. They live in the light. Different from the pattern of the world and the way it thinks. Foolish in the eyes of the wise and prudent. Luke 13:22-25 Matthew 16:5-12

The church system is the problem. We are going to return to living as a Christian ekklesia as a house based movement where there is no titled minister and where we agape one another and it's this that the new generation of teens is crying out for. Demoninations, franchise churches are all traditions that have passed down from the Roman Catholic church. All ekklesia are political where all members are equal and all members are encouraged and expected to participate
