- Meguiar's Scratch Remover is a must have for any car owner. It is what Darren calls a first responder when it comes to removing car scratches from your car in general, or more specifically removing car paint scratches in your car bumper, nail scratches around your door handles, or other random car paint scratches.
So if you want to do car paint scratch repair, you will need some type of product like the Meguiars Scratch X as a simple and effective way to first address any scratch in your car to assess what is going on, or to remove the car paint scratch enough for acceptable results.

Finally a car scratch video by someone experienced and intelligent enough to get this across to every day folks. Thank you! 😃
Contrary to other comments posted, I appreciate the detailed explanations covering how, why and what. Thanks.
I appreciate that also
Yup.
People's attention span is getting proportionately lower as their ability to whine and cry about sthg useful is getting higher. It's mind bogglin'.
I've used it for years. Works on minor scratches quite well.
Just bought a bottle and it works great. You do a good job articulating the process. Nicely done.
I just bought a secondhand black Nissan. Used this product to clean up some scratches and rubs and while removing fingernail scratches on the door I discovered that it will also remove set on water spots. Nice surprise.
I totally forgot about this product. Thank you for the reminder. We just bought a brand new Elantra with only 8 miles on it and in the last few weeks we noticed someone scratched a hairbrush across the trunk while we were in Target.
Great and very informative video, to all the people who complained about edits or information overload, here's an idea if you think that you can do better then go for it, this is all free information that you are not personally paying for so just appreciate we live in a day and age where we can get all sorts of help and advice in the palm of your hand, anywhere. Too many moaners and complainers these days. Peace
I agree with you Aaron Somers. The old saying "If you don't like it, switch off".
I converted my cheap Harbor freight grinder into a polisher and with McQuires compound /polish removed most of the branch scratches I incurred whilst cutting through the bushes between my house and Sweet Dick Willies place in less than an hr.
The only person on youtube i will click like before i even watch the video. I learnt a lot from this man .. i owe him a lot.
Thank you for the vote of confidence!
Very informative, helpful, and entertaining! Thank you very much for the reassurance that scratches on a car are normal and that there's an easy way to fix/camouflage it.
Great video .All these ppl complaining are the ones that do it at home then come back and complain it didn't work .Why? because you didn't listen to ALL the advice and details he is disseminating for your advantage .Subbed
*4:29** is where it really starts.*
LOL!
MVP
I have 4:29 minutes of my life to spend elsewhere! Thanx - LMAO!
THANK YOU!! (I was tempted to drag out pictures of my grandchildren.)
Thank You!
I actually use the Meguiars to remove scratches from my eyeglasses works very well take the lenses out first amazing products
Working in optometry, we have to coninuously tell people that there is no such thing as removing the scratches in lenses. You can fill them, but a real scratch cannot be removed. If it happens enough to prescription lenses, you'll end up with lenses that are no longer your prescription because it's a bunch a scratch filler and not the lense that you are looking through.
Lol not a good idea.... like what that chris person said....
scratch X or any of these products doesn’t REMOVE scratches, it just fills in the missing gaps in clear coats where the light will reflect off of it and your visual perception can not see it.... in the case of glasses, lol you’ll be wearing it thinking that it’s repaired but you’re just looking at it through a new lens that has missing gaps that’s filled with liquid that just reflects light... lol.... you might as well wear an eye patch on one eye lol
I bought this stuff and this is the best video describing how to do the job. Thanks sir!!!
I have this product and I like it a lot! While not perfect, it works the best out of anything I ever tried...And I have tried almost ALL of them!
Thanks much for your video. I have this Meguiar's product. I haven't use it yet. You have just showed me how. I'll wash the car first then use the product. So thanks again.
I just used this product and method and it worked like a dream! Thank you for creating this video!
"Don't go in to freak out mode" haha spot on mate, I love it :P
I've seen this kind of video too, where people tell you to do horizontal or vertical but not circular. And guess what ? When they use a polisher...it's an orbital. And what an orbital does ? It imitates the circular movement of the human hand.
Chemical Guys
Just used this product yesterday, it works!
Right!?
It doesn't. It's a filler. It's a trap
G3 scratch remover paste is really good. I've stuck with it for a few years now. When combined with the G3 white hand held cutting pad it delivers sweet results. (in terms of fast scratch or scuff removal.) Hey Darren, how are you doing? My channel is now just about to hit 11k! I'm glad you're back with something other than a debadging video!
after using this product and washing your car does the scratch return
I had scratches on my car
I bought Meguiars swirl remover
It did nothing
I then bought Meguiars scratch X remover & applied it - it did not remove the scratches!!!
The thing it did was smell good & made me think of a tropical paradise for about 5 seconds. It did not even touch the scratches it polished them up.
I then dug out a rusty old old tin, the one you prise open with a screw driver, of cutting compound from under years of car products collected The cutting compound applied with a damp cloth REMOVED the scratches instantaneously miraculously i felt a sense of joy flood my being, the scratches were gone. I had to stir the contents of the old tin because it had seperated. I then used another OLD tin of polish to finally bring up a mirror finish
Say what you want but
I will NOT be conned by Meguairs again
Let me guess, that old tin can polisher filler you used was turtle wax🙄
Love this guys content, but my goodness...get to the point.
all his videos are like this. LOL!
LOL.
There's a lot of good information in between though
Some peopl will never be happy lol there’s a lot of explanation that are really useful so I appreciate it
This product not only remove the scratch on my Jaguar but also removed the clear coat and paint costing me $500 to get it fixed. All for one door scratch.
So it failed
I have a black car it was vandalized by my sibling. She scratched it up pretty bad in several places. Would it be ok to wax the entire car after I try to remove the scratches. and thank you so much for sharing this video it's helped a lot I was wondering what kind of product or what I should use to get the scratches out thank you again
So, I used this for my car, and it only removed two things, bird poop stain and very minor key scratches near door knob, other than that it did not remove any small or minor scratches that you think it should removed but unfortunately it didn't. I used the compound machine to use the product not by hand, still far below my expectation, it barely removed any scratches to be honest.
Watch this video instead, ruclips.net/video/Zl_iSYYGBiY/видео.html
Meguiar's Scratch Remover: When you use this on the scratches, will this be gone forever? Even you clean your car every week at once or we are 1 month further then today?
"Wow, brain fade." "Cornucopia" this guy is a character. Sounds like Adam Schefter. All that aside, thanks for the video!
Great video I have a black car with hard paint and when I purchased it I inherited lots of scratches
Works good on scratched dvds too.
I've been singing praises of scratchx for a long time. The easiest way to get some work done, even for a complete newbie.
Everyone upset that the man is explaining why and how this works and the video is titled “why you need to get this” dumb generation won’t take knowledge even when it’s free😂
U can say dat again no1; want s to wait
Great video and I learned a few things from it. I thought he explained things quite well.
He did, this new generation just wants everything NOW.
Thank you for the video, I've been scouting RUclips for a video on this product and yours is the best and most detailed. Some douche scratched my year old car and bolted and now I am sitting with a 4 inch long scratch to my coating. Hopefully this product will help. There is also a black line on the rear panel which does not look like it cut the coating. Your video helped me understand that it could be removed with this product. So finally your video has shed light on the 2 types of marks on my car.
Thanks a ton Darren.
P.S. Bell icon smashed !!!
NOMAD DRIVES me f
Hey NOMAD. I know your comment was 3 years ago, but just curious. How did this product work on the scratches you had?
@@J.A.07 Worked well. Did sand out the scratch but it was visible at certain angles. Best bet is to get the paint polished and it will vanish. This is just a stop gap.
So I purchased this today, and it was impressive on swirl marks on my hood and extreme fine scratches , but on 3 scratches I have on my drivers door which did not seem deep thus can feel slightly w my fingernail, this helped improve the disappearance of the scratches, but has not taken away the scratches on my door. It sucks cause my car is brand new and it bothers me to see those scratch marks
"Here's the reality...life is a jungle" - This shit got deep real quick.
You probably dont care but does anyone know of a way to log back into an instagram account..?
I stupidly lost the login password. I appreciate any help you can offer me.
@Matteo Roland instablaster ;)
Thank you so much!!! Have a Black beetle with front bumper searches . Scratches by door knob came off with Turtlevwax search remover but getting the Maquiars
Show us on a black car please...white cars dont show swirls so much
@@robertflyingheart2427 Good to know! Someone scratched the door on my Pearl Black Golf 🙄
Did it work?
Robert Vliegenthart Could you take a video of using it on black? Lots of us would like it.
@Rod did it really work?
Tell that to my crystal white pearl WRX lol
Put on a microfiber cloth, wipe the scratch until you get the desired results. 1 minute 5 Seconds video max.
Probably want to wash it first lol.... and probably want to explain the layers
Wax
Clear coat (thickest)
Base coat
Primer
Metal
ScratchX just fills in the valley of soft scratches that are found on the clear coat.
Probably want to polish the area and seal it with wax afterwards!
Just bought mine from your link. Hope it works well on my car.
I used this product to remove light scratches and right after it looked fine more or less BUT after 20 days going to the carwash my (light) scratches were clearly visible again.
I really think that the wax is just hiding the scratches and not removing.
Thanks! I now have the product and it really does work!!!
OMG stop talking and just do it.
yep loves to b/s
That's what she said
I can’t stand it when people go on and on and on
That’s what I was thinking 🤔 so dreadful ! I’m going to another video
14 minutes??? Come on... just show me what I need to see.
Great job on the editing! Extremely useful video, Darren. Thank you!
That x2 didnt even remove light scrathes on my car..and i mean really light.
Good video! There are few light clear coat scratches that were created by someone scraping my car at the parking lot. 1) Would you say that this product will help and not damage clear coat even more? After scratch is removed, will this area be safe against moisture and the sun?
Just got a new truck. Going to try this. Car wash left marks after wards 😢
excellent product. Thanks for the video!
Detailed my truck today then got in and scratched it with the clip on my pocket knife. I almost vomitted when it happened. I haven't felt that sick since I got curb rash on my srt jeep wheels.
How circular and vertical/horizontal scratches differ is that circular scratches are easier to see than vertical/horizontal. Learned that from Chrisfix
I just used this product on my new Gunmetal Metallic Challenger, it works like a charm & keeps my 10 year old Hemi Ram looking like it came off the showroom. I used to use the 3-M compound but now love the easy use of this product which I only utilize by hand, good stuff my friend!
I am happy for your success! Keep on shining!
Lol. To remove a circular swirl mark, use an elliptical rubbing pattern. If you have to go circular due to lack of hand eye coordination, rub faster clock wise and slower counterclockwise.
Really appreciate the time you spent to shoot this video, excellent information you give me and now I can stop testing products on my old truck before do something on my wife’s car.
By the way, both vehicles are white and my old truck has many scratches and I watched a video recommending to use a Mr Clean magic eraser soaked on water and it works , remove scratches and also your clear coat, my truck has fewer scratches but looks like it went to a fight with a sander machine. I know I shouldn’t do that but how can I fix all those spots? I try applying wax coats and still looks the same. Please can you give me an idea?
Magnificent!! Thanks for the detailed Instructions!!
Ill come back when the demonstrations begin👋🏼
You say unnecessary words that don’t need to be said. This is easily a 5 min video stop talking so much
Ok I have a question. After I apply it to the scratch and the scratch disappear. What would happen if I wash the car like 5 mins after I apply the lotion...
Best way to remove a scratch from someone keying my truck ??
Great video! Finally…simple yet effective
Didn't worked for my car. I spend almost 2 hours but nothing. All I have some light scratches n few light Scuffs on bumper.
Do you buff it in and leave it or do you buff it then wash off with water or soap?
Does any of the advanced items work? I myself know McGuire’s ceramic coating Does Not. So what is up ?
hi sir...my ipad aluminum bezel has a scrape mark on sharp tip edges..what should i do to fill and remove it,does maguaires do the trick?
Would have like to seen a darker color car. Scratches are generally white. Still appreciate your advice . Always circular.
Once the scratch is vanished after applying the product, does after washing will the scratch part be eradicated or will be seen
I love the way you explain things soooooo great 👍🏽 thank you 🙏🏽
thank you for the video, just bought some... will see how it works :)
no, using compound in a noncircular pattern will cause scratches that is why you go in circles not straight lines. Given these might be fine because they are not very abrasive.
I just found my lost meguiars scratch removal I bought 4-5 years ago. Is it ok to use after this long or will it damage my paint? It has been in the back of a dark cabinet the whole time.
If you wash the car after does the scratches will show again ? Or it makes it gone forever ?
excellent video. Helped me with product choice thank you!
Really like Scratch X 2.0. It also has other uses.
Used scratch x on a gun stock with a satin finish. Wow, not only did it polish the varnish, but the grain patterns in the extra fancy walnut stood out.
So besides car paint, it has other uses.
I was wondering if it could be used on the interior door handles of my new vehicle which has black satin paint finish, so was great to read it worked for you on a satin type finish. Thanks.
Followed this vid today and wow! it is EXCELLENT! cheers for the walk thru ...
That's why I steal minds , it it doesnt work it didnt cost me anything
Love your work mate from Australia 🇦🇺
Works great on smudges and blemishes. Not so much on scratches! It does improve them a bit...
But sadly, does not remove :(
No if it goes through the clear coat into the paint you can't remove completely. All you can do is try and make it not so noticeable unless you wanna take it to a professional
Go watch chrisfix how to remove scratches video... of you’re lucky, you just need to know how to use compound, polish, and wax....
If it’s super deep you going to need to know how to use wet sand paper.... compound, polish and wax....!
If it’s completely into your paint where you see and feel the metal.... best you can do is touch up paint, and the previous method... it will hide it but will never go away
Unless you pay thousands of dollars to have that repainted.... or you can paint it yourself if you feel courageous enough
Remember these layers
Wax
Clear coat
Base paint
Primer
Metal
You gotta gage how deep the scratch is.... if it’s just to your clear coat. Polish and wax fixes it
If you can feel bits of it with your finger you have to cut off several layers of your clear coat using compound..... probably need to wet sand it.... if it’s completely to the primer.... touch up paint is all you can do
Would a better description for these products is that they hide the defect rather than correct them. Even for light scratches, isn’t it just inhibiting light from reflecting by acting like a temporary dull filler?
Too much explaining just show us how it works
Yes 14 minutes that can be condensed to 5 !!
Most of detailers talk so much the can put a glass eye to sleep. Worse than my ex-wife. Most of them are feminised soy-boys. Thats why I clean my own car. "Lets deconstruct a scratch". Im off to be be sick.

Never considered it an option but will now
I wil have to order this as a final buffer like liquid. My car got scratched by a rock all the way around my ENVOY and I about lost my head I was so mad. We bought a paint stick cover up but it just doesn't look complete to me( a perfectionist I will have to get this wax product and wax it out.)
I need to know how well this works on a red car before I purchase it. Does anyone have any insight?
I used this. It left swirl marks. Used the microfiber cloth from the kit. Could use some advice.
What wax do you recommend as a protector layer after stripping from the clear coat?
Will you need to wax the entire area you treated with the Meguiars product? Thanks.
good info, but man, what is with the editing, the starting and stopping/ juttering throughout is painful to sit thru , please minimize in the future ,,, great context as usual though !
Do you wash car before this? im planing on doing this but i want to do Meguiers waterless wash on the part before the Scratch X2.0.
Can you use this to remove light scratches on black painted wheels?
Vertical and horizontal is a little easier to remove to me. Swirls can be the pain in the bootie sometimes
I must have gave it too many passes when I removed the masking tape scratch was gone but was left with square shapes all over my door
Get back to us when you do a black metallic paint.
Yup...White don't show scratches like black does.
will it work on stainless steel, such as elevator doors or restaurant counter tops?
Is the Scratch-X 2.0 the same as Meg's Ultimate Compound or Polish?
Transfer = Changes in DNA.
Dude, that’s CLASSIC!🤣🤣🤣
Hey Darren! I’m a huge fan. Can you please tell me what you use to clean up the exterior black trim on a 2008-1015 Cadillac trim. It is textured and it already has a semigloss finish but I know you can do better, any tips would be deeply appreciated.
Thank you, my question is that meguiars type suitable for rubby red paint car color?
How come they’re all white vehicles ? Is it because they are easier to blend in the scratches?
Your awesome ! Thanks for sharing your knowledge
This product is a mascara for a car, not scratch remover. It will work on scratches that are small and not very deep. Otherwise they will reappear after a few days/weeks. However, it is a good product to fix minor , fresh scratches and prevents further damage to the paint.
