      Also one tip for dps thats different from support:
      Either go for map control, or ensure enemy can't go for map control.
      Aka control high grounds when they give an advantage, or make sure enemy tank can't push up for free when they're trying to advance.
      If you master this duality of space control, you'll learn what core dps value is about. Quite different from support because you have to be more proactive and forward thinking at all times, and also move a bit more freely and not sit back behind your team constantly. Safety is good, but off angle safety is better than backline safety when you wanna deny space

  • @Sindoku

    I have some advice too if you’ll hear me out.
    Sometimes u need to flank squishies, sometimes you need to tank bust. It depends on your and enemy lineup. At first tank busting didn’t work because Sigma can eat your assault configuration, that’s when you flank. You waited 4 minutes to flank but when you did, you instantly killed 3. When their tank swapped to Queen, you needed to tank bust, only this time you didn’t have 4 minutes to realize it, and you kept flanking squishies, which can work, but it’s not the best play there on Bastion.

      Well said. I think his positioning and everything is fine as a Masters Support. He was just relying on his team to be aggressive and take map space, but the thing in Gold is that people don't really do that either. So he needed to be the one to take more of a "commanding" role instead of being passive and scared like a support.

    If you ask me, as a DPS flanking, you have to expect you will die and Support will not be able to save you unless they pocket you. 2nd enemy team was actually playing way better than you think. A flanking bastion is easier to kill than a bastion sitting with the tank.

    He plays a lot like a support DPS. I reckon he probably mains Kiriko by the angles he takes and the solo plays he trys to make. He doesnt understand that when he gets those picks as support it's game changing, but when he doesn't understand you need to deal consistent pressure as DPS to allow your team to go for those picks.

      I'm too used to dealing damage from backline because I play zen, so as long as I discord/damage and avoid dying, things go fine. • @jbwon2775
      @jbwon2775 11 месяцев назад +1

      @hwalnut7202 Something you might want to focus on is as DPS you don't need to worry about so many things like you do as support. As a support player you feel like you need to do so much, but as DPS, if you're shooting the Pharah whenever she peeks out or scoped down a choke point, it seems like you're not doing damage, but you're putting pressure on the enemy, not allowing them to peek out or hold favorable angles

    • @jbwon2775
      @jbwon2775 11 месяцев назад +1

      @hwalnut7202 Also hitting your shots really matter as DPS. When you're support, you can kinda spam damage and hope it hits (I can understand why you favor Bastion) but as DPS you need to have that kill potential, If anyone is below 70% health you should be able to kill them everytime, this also puts pressure on the enemy to play safer and more reserved, vs knowing they can just heal through spam damage

    I'll offer a more detailed take than some of the other "support boosted" comments. For the record, I do agree that support is an overpowered role, but not so much that any player could be Masters while being legitimately Gold in other roles.
    I think it's more that support, IN GENERAL, allows its players to adopt a more passive and reactive playstyle to the point where they don't really have to understand the other roles or the flow of the game. They just have to follow their team, try to take duels or live when they get pressured, and damage who's in their LOS. Like it's essentially stay in a safe position that's in your hero's effective range and don't make huge mistakes, and you'll probably climb.
    There are obviously players like ML7 or OWL pros that understand how to be playmakers on support. And you have heroes like Lucio and Kiriko that demand more game sense and aggression. But the point is you don't HAVE to play harder heroes like Lucio and Kiri, and you don't HAVE TO play like ML7 to be relatively successful in ranked. You probably won't reach Top 500 if you can't make plays, but you could easily reach Masters.
    Meanwhile, tanks past a certain rank HAVE to understand how to move, initiate, and leverage cool downs to get anything done. Dps past a certain rank HAVE to understand how get picks in and against certain comps to get anything done.

      @Aon_Duine 11 месяцев назад +2

      Totally agree. I used to be a tank main, and when I started to play more sup and DPS I was basically playing as a tank and getting completely rolled every time xD. But playing the three roles really helps to understand what the others go through. It has helped me to be a better teammate I think, not a better player, but I understand the struggle others can feel so I try to adapt and help. For example, if I see my Rein suffering because of a bastion, I go tracer or sombra to keep him in check so the rein can do his thing.

    • @flamingythermit314
      @flamingythermit314 11 месяцев назад +2

      I think it's because the majority of the supports have a "get out of jail free card" that you don't get with most tanks or DPS. As bastion you can shoot, shoot grenade, and shoot faster. Meanwhile kiri gets cleanse, TP, wallclimb, healing passive and very high value headshots. Having all these tools in your kit that are specifically for your survival that other characters don't get makes it harder to switch roles

Ult tracking etc. I just find it wild that someone who is good enough to be in masters in one role can’t make it out of gold in the other roles. I would expect a masters level player in one role to be at least decent and not another role. You should be able to get into high plat/diamond if you can hit masters or higher.

    So sad for this master support to be unable to climb higher as dps. He has what you need to be plat or higher but maybe Bastion is not the best pick for his way of playing. As a bastion gold player, if he didn't not stay behind his team focusing the closest target, he may be able to get solo pick but not have the map control by staying with his team. I thinks playing Soldier 76 would be a better pick for him to climb if he want solo plays. I think that his way of blaming his allies depends on this way to play in Master as support, people don't play the same way and he will not be able to advise his 4 other mates to play like masters and win in gold.

    9:05 you’re definitely just nitpicking 😭Queen was anti and getting chased by a Winston and tracer (and no she did not get that health pack) so as the bastion turns the corner they see a zen and get an elimination now if they’d have backed up immediately after shooting the grenade then JQ wouldn’t have been able to pull them so far out of position, but even still bap using immortality (8:51) on a 103hp bastion is why the immortality wasn’t ready when the bastion just got pulled, but you “understand why” (even tho the bastion already was falling back and that zen no longer had LOS) but then you turn around and blame bastion for not shooting the queen instead of zen even tho YOU can literally see characters through walls and still didn’t see JQ was only in LOS for like literally a second before she threw her knife and they literally only had 2 seconds in turret form anyway🤦🏾I’m not saying you don’t know what you’re talking about but you definitely were just trying to find a reason to complain about the bastion there.
