Dude...reason why this video is brilliant. Not only is he extremely thorough but you have her on the other side of the camera who doesn't know squat, asking questions we wouldn't know. Great video and thanks a lot!
Thank you for recording this video for RUclips, It's saved me when my car wasn't working and stranded. I never worked on my car like this before with my hands, now I feel confident to rely on myself
If you have problems with that blue gasket and it keeps falling, use a little tiny bit of gasket paste from a small tube you can buy at auto store for cheap and put a small amount to metal side to hold it upside down without falling. It works for me every time. Very little tho, like a smear just to make the grooves where it goes tacky.
Thank you. Apparently our cars have different throttle bodies because yours is wired for speed and mine is not, something like "Drive By Wire", I think. Even when you clean your IAC valve throttle body you can see the difference to me, because neither appears! Receive a big hug from Argentina.
Thanks for responding. The engine code you can find it printed on the cylinder block, just below the throttle body. For example, the Civic SI has a K20 engine (2.0 liters) and our Accords K24 engine (2.4 liters), but I know of some engines that have small differences between them, for example K24A3 and K24A8 (mine). Basically I look for the differences between the throttle bodies, because they can not find the IAC valve. Look and tell me! Greetings!
Glad to see you are so liked. BUT! That is not the iac, it is the high idol control valve. You also can spray the heck outta it without worries about corroding anything. It does not corrode anything these sprays. They are meant to clean as they spray on contact. Like a power washer. Rubbing with a rag also is a bonus. If you can get a rag into the area you are working... I am a mechanic of many years. If you need help just ask me what you need help with. I will do my best to help you friend. Jack
yes, this video showed cleaning the throttle and IAC. There are many other components in addition to IAC that could also be the problem, see: ruclips.net/video/8oJyRHaqksM/видео.html So there are many different ways to fix it: ruclips.net/video/ukUprm9jOc8/видео.html

Watched this and a few other corgLC videos and they arr great. Good video, nice step wise and logical approach to problem solving. The steps are usually complete which is what most videos by mechanics miss.
you prolly dont give a damn but does anyone know of a tool to log back into an instagram account..? I stupidly lost my login password. I love any assistance you can offer me!
@Romeo Damari I really appreciate your reply. I found the site through google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
the two screws were the hardest part to remove. If you managed to previously loosen the two screws, you will have better removals, see my follow up video titled "Absolute Minimal Removal of Idle Air Control (IAC) & Install New IAC", the link is in the description (youtu.be / 4oj3WeCjs_g)
Thanks for your videos, you can visually verify the operation of your IAC by unbolting it from the throttle body but leaving the electrical connection intact. Use something to partially block the intake hole where the IAC used to be to get a smooth idle. Also remember to clamp off the coolant hose. When the car is cold it should be wide opened, and when the coolant hit 90 degree C it should be almost 100% closed. I cleaned mine with carburetor fluid at first and didn't fix the problem. I took it out again and soaked it in penetrating fluid (pb blaster) and was able to un-jam the valve. Lots of carbon came out (1999 Acura TL).

Thanks for the video! I've been trying to get a look at the throttle body without having to take it out of my car because the cruise cable mount on the plastic cam snapped off and I'm trying to fix it. This was about as good of a view as I could get.
I tried the carburetor cleaner spray, it did not work well even though I did spray a lot into it. In order to proper clean it, you just to take the unit off, and soak it with gasoline (submerged in a large container) for a long time.
Perfect Job, and great video assistant. You both made this video really helpful. I have my IAC Valve, and TPS replacements on the way from Rock Auto. Thank you, Thank you very much.
I had to use a Hammer to break the seal on the Trottle Body and Manifold. Also couldn’t get the IAC screws loose at all. Why would they use screws on some the heats up and cools down constantly. I cleaned what I could and put it back. After changing the TPS (odb2 tester, adjusting until errors went away) everything was fine.
so far, the IAC is the only problem for me. I should have just replace it the first time. However you don't know which part actually caused the problem until you experiment various possibilities.
Great vid. Had very bad idle problems and check engine light. Ran free diagnostic at oreilys and they also said it was prolly a bad idle air control valve. Very simple installation with the help of your video. The hardest part is removing the two screws that attach ICAV to the throttle body. They are on VERY tight. Thanks again!!
When the throttle is fully exposed... You can hit the gas opening the seal and spray the cleaner inside while the car is running... I think this works and is way easier than removing everything...
David Zhang Not sure. My honda today was Idling low. My father came and did what I said and now it Idles normal. He was in a hurry to get back as I should say... Now I hear that can possibly blow the engine doing that? Anyways, I suppose it is cleaning the throttle...
***** Yes. Recently my 2003 Honda Accord LX was idling bad... My dad, being a mechanic for over 50 years did this as a quick fix... Idled good ever sense... It will not go up in flames... What you have to do is open it up to expose the throttle while someone sits in the car revving it up slightly... With each touch of the peddle, the person outside will pour a bit of throttle body cleaner in while the inside is exposed... Repeat until your hearts desire... A bit of smoke will come out of the tail pipe, but no harm will be done... Keep in mind, you can pour water in and it will still smoke due to the engine burning off the liquid...
(Continued...) (basically what the active component would be the basis of the cleaning product). Thank you very much, I await your response. Greetings from Argentina.
You can disconnect the cables without removing them from the bracket, which if you did remove from the bracket you would require adjustment. They come off the cam similarly to how bicycle brake cables come off. Turn the cable so that the cable lines up with the slot, move the cable up through the slot. Just be sure of the cable orientation when you put it back, being sure they don't twist when you get them around the cams. After 175K, the throttle body was stuck on hard to the manifold throat. Had to hammer it off (carefully of course, with padding). Also one of the screws holding the IACV was stuck hard. Had to twist the IAC a litlte so that it could possibly torqe the stuck screw. I was going to try and clean the original IACV, but after all the trouble to get it out, I felt it was worth the $80 to ensure not having to go through all this again. Last oil change place tightened the air cleaner cover screws so tight, one of the plastic ears broke. There was no way to prevent it from breaking. My idle started going bad a couple days ago. This afternoon when i planned to replace the IAC it went from high idle to way too low idle. Stalled out at stops. Great timing.
sir, there is valve ATTACHED TO THE FRONT ENGINE BODY (BRASS BOLT 24 MM) AND 'L' shape black plastic connectors one hose connected from behind the injectors and another hose come from AIR INTAKE HOSE. WHAT IS THE PART NAME AND HOW TO OPEN IT TO REPLACE?
Hi dear! Thank you very much for sharing the procedures to repair and / or maintain our beloved Honda Accord. My car has a similar flaw: without actually moving the rpm counter is enough to appreciate that the engine noise is fluctuations, indeed minimal, but fluctuations in the end, and I dare to imagine that perhaps the IACV valve. According to the procedure to clean the IACV valve Accord, I wonder what kind of liquid spray cleaner you use for this ...... (continued on next...)
1. the code is K24A4, 2106886. 2. on the throttle KIHIN GY F4A 40306 3. on the front of the engine KEIHIN RAAA114-012407. I think for some year only 4 cylinder engine has the IAC. If you have V6 for the same year, then it does not use IAC.
Hey i noticed you had green coolant in the reservoir, for that K24 engine, Honda recommends their Type 2 genuine coolant that is Blue in color. the green coolant does not have the same cooling capabilities and protection as the genuine kind.
I talked to the autozone staff, he said it's OK. I also called the dealer, I was told the warranty would not be avoided. Basically any silicate free eth-glycol that's safe for aluminum engines, for example Prestone would be ok.
You don’t have a MAF which bummed me out since my 05 accord 2.4 l has the MAF sensor near the air box. I’m having the idle issue where I start the car and it idles at 2k… but I think my issue is bad gas as the car sat for over a year with a full tank of 87 octane. It didn’t do this idle stuff before. But your system is much better to have… good video though
Just figured out it’s my IAC, IAT, and I had to clean the MAF (which I ended up replacing along with the throttle body) my 2005 Honda Accord 2.4 liter runs smooth
The IAC pair of small screws are NOT USA Phillips... they are JIS type heads and need $8/pair in eBay JIS #2 bits to remove the screws. Use a dab of WD-40 or Kroil ....30 minutes before removal to loosen the screws
I have the same accord and threw a p0507 high idle code. The idle would go between 1k and 2k. I replaced the idle air control and did the relearn procedure and now it idles at 950-1100 which is still high. Any suggestions on next culprit?
Please what can make my Honda Accord 1999 model always start once when cold but it crank up to 4 - 5 time when hot before it respond, i have change the complete injector, fuel pump, fuel filter, Starter, also the distributor, but the same problem still occur, i need your help on how to solve the problem some time i have to start it from engine starter before it works
1. make sure the battery, cables are good: ruclips.net/video/5_0nsReSKhE/видео.html 2. make sure spark plugs are good: ruclips.net/video/w4-qqNPFgo4/видео.html 3. you said you have a new starter, so is the starter turning the engine? 4. basically two paths can cause this problem: A. do you get spark? You need to check electrical B. do you get fuel? There are many components such as those you have already replaced. But still you need to check fuel, sometimes electrical problems such as fuel relay. 5. also need to check if you have clogged air filter 6. check to see if fuel lines too close to a hot engine or other hot components, because fuel will vaporize.
when it is dirty, the moving part is sticky. Watch the part in the video that I tried to move the little "door" on the IAC, it does not move as smooth when it is dirty.
Nice video! Thank you... Advice!.. Ditch that Haynes manual, and invest in a "Repair Manual" for your specific model. A lot more detailed and "correct".
1. first you can't reach the IAC from the throttle easily. You may clean the throttle: ruclips.net/video/1u3XGC0sZe0/видео.html 2. But even if your spray could reach IAC, you can look at the moving part of the IAC: ruclips.net/video/1u3XGC0sZe0/видео.html in the video I said "look at the moving part, sometimes it is stuck", how can you spray into that moving part accurately? 3. After removing IAC and spraying cleaner, it only worked for a few months, eventually I still had to soak it for 100% cleaning see here: ruclips.net/video/4oj3WeCjs_g/видео.html
You should only use CRC Throttle body & Air intake cleaner, NOT carburetor cleaner, because carburetor cleaner leaves a residue behind after it dries, sooo... You might have to pull everything apart again and re-clean it all if things aren't working correctly, and that's frustrating and time consuming. Best to right the very first time, imo.
we listed many issues with the low idle. The idea is to look for all components in either the air or fuel path. It may inspire to solve idle problem for any cars honda or not.
hi, my friend i have an idling issue. it goes up and down at idle. does removing the negative terminal of the battery reset the throttle position sensor or relearn it. how long should i leave it disconnected. my car is a nissan bluebird slyhpy 2008yr. hope you can help me out.

@@flexapex9801 does your OBD II system capture any error code? The electronic control unit usually goes into a limp mode based on sensor signals from many components, your spark plugs, distributor, catalytic converter...etc
@@GeniusAsian It had a check engine light for a while according to my wife. We put it in the reader but no code showed. I’m thinking that the light may have burnt out but it’s not throwing a code. Spark plugs have been changed oil,air filter. And both Variable valve timing solenoid actuator. I did the coil test where you unplug the coil pack while it’s running and see if the engine idle change but the idle change with every single coil pack. i’m at a loss could it be at ECU?
Warning: Make sure you put your idle air control valve the correct way round!. On my 2002 Honda CRV 2.0ivtec I put it on the wrong way, and coolant flooded into the intake whilst it was running. Fucked the engine completely!. My biggest car mistake ever. :(

The idle air control in my opinion just wastes gas. Its only purpose is to add air to off set the air conditioner demands when the throttle plate is closed. It can be bypassed with a plate and the butterfly can be set to run the engine with the throttle screw holding the plate open just enough to attain perfect idle. It can be a pain for the computer to re-learn but after that you pickup some mpg's not much but some. Thanks for the video but the focus is horrible.
CorgLLC Hello, how are you? I make a query, could you tell me what is the engine code that belongs to this video? Because I've tried to find the IAC valve in the throttle body of my engine (which is a K24A8) and I could not find it. Thank you very much for your answer, greetings from Argentina.
I was about to post a comment saying that A8's have "drive by wire" throttle bodies. I believe they don't have that iac valve and throttle cables as well. Makes our job a bit easier :)
I only disconnected one cable to reset the computer. If for some reason you disconnect both cables (bot positive and negative cables), then you may remove the battery.
hey, i replaced maf on 2005 accord 2.4 and my idle goes high from start 2500 and raises to 3000, engine runs smooth tho do you think idle relearn can fix it? or is it throttle position sensor ?
I have a follow up video to discuss the final solution: ruclips.net/video/4oj3WeCjs_g/видео.html replaced the IAC valve bought from O'reilly auto (about $80) and the problem never came back.

sorry about that. Our earlier effort of editing to cut the length of the video, combined with a high data rate caused this problem. Our recent videos no longer have this problem. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

yes, to do any repair, I have the habit of tagging things. If I don't tag parts then I may have harder time to put them back together later on. The time I used to tag is minimal, overall I save the time for the repair. This is because the difficulty of un-installation and the difficulty of installation is not symmetrical, i.e. installation takes more time than removing parts.
if the problem keeps coming back and its this hard to work on, why not just sell the car. its only an 04 anyway. i was looking at one for my wife but after seeing this i wont buy it now. thanks.

1. make sure the battery, cables are good: ruclips.net/video/5_0nsReSKhE/видео.html
2. make sure spark plugs are good: ruclips.net/video/w4-qqNPFgo4/видео.html
3. you said you have a new starter, so is the starter turning the engine?
4. basically two paths can cause this problem:
A. do you get spark? You need to check electrical
B. do you get fuel? There are many components such as those you have already replaced. But still you need to check fuel, sometimes electrical problems such as fuel relay.
5. also need to check if you have clogged air filter
6. check to see if fuel lines too close to a hot engine or other hot components, because fuel will vaporize.
I recommend gloves since carb cleaner is toxic.
I changed the starter and somehow i missing engine coolant recovery hose. please help me how many hose connect to throttle body ?
when it is dirty, the moving part is sticky. Watch the part in the video that I tried to move the little "door" on the IAC, it does not move as smooth when it is dirty.
Great Video Brother! ~MrSKSkill
Nice video!
Thank you... Advice!.. Ditch that Haynes manual, and invest in a "Repair Manual" for your specific model. A lot more detailed and "correct".
Thank you for your suggestion
Thanks for a great vid! Helped me a lot! 👍
thank you for taking the time to provide feedback
Do you think that opening the throttle and spraying cleaner into IAC would clean the pathway the same thing without having to take any screws out?
1. first you can't reach the IAC from the throttle easily. You may clean the throttle: ruclips.net/video/1u3XGC0sZe0/видео.html
Great information
6:02 what is the piece that the clamps are holding??????
Please help
How is a typical problem when it is dirty?? And why is recommended clean?
If only my car was this easy to access the IAC, RIP
What kind of car is yours?
You should only use CRC Throttle body & Air intake cleaner, NOT carburetor cleaner, because carburetor cleaner leaves a residue behind after it dries, sooo... You might have to pull everything apart again and re-clean it all if things aren't working correctly, and that's frustrating and time consuming. Best to right the very first time, imo.
Correct, they are on VERY tight or else you must have strong fingers LOL.
Damn my cl9 accord doesnt have TPS neither mass airflow sensor how is that possible?!
video make me dizzy....but good info......thnx !!!
😂😂😂😂 felt the same way
Hi please I just want know som information about the low idle for Honda crv2008
we listed many issues with the low idle. The idea is to look for all components in either the air or fuel path. It may inspire to solve idle problem for any cars honda or not.
hi, my friend i have an idling issue. it goes up and down at idle.
does removing the negative terminal of the battery reset the throttle position sensor or relearn it.
how long should i leave it disconnected.
my car is a nissan bluebird slyhpy 2008yr.
hope you can help me out.
this one is PCM Idel Learn Procedure for Accord: ruclips.net/video/K8VfHkMmeZA/видео.html
do you know about nissan?
Necesito ayuda d alguien k m diga acuanto es lo k tiene k andar la revokusion de un honda acord 1998 y k m digan pork cuando lo pongo neutral c baja asta 250
The Intake hose screw is stripped on mine. Do you have any suggestions?
when you say "stripped", did you mean the thread stripped or did you mean the screw head stripped?
Screw head.. sorry i just saw this.. I gave up and went to a mechanic.
Thanks for the video....

What are the symptoms of a dirty idle air control valve?mines doesn’t go past 3400 RPM it starts to go into a limp mode
idle air control is for idling, when you past 3400 RPM are you accelerating?
@@GeniusAsian yes On acceleration
@@flexapex9801 you may try to disconnect some sensors to see if any error codes are generated.
does a dirty IAC affect the AC from getting cold while driving?
unlikely. Others will effect IAC but not the other way around.
Maybe. Because it does help compensate throttle when AC is turned on
Warning: Make sure you put your idle air control valve the correct way round!. On my 2002 Honda CRV 2.0ivtec I put it on the wrong way, and coolant flooded into the intake whilst it was running. Fucked the engine completely!. My biggest car mistake ever. :(
Thank you for sharing your mistakes, it will help others.
Why do you have GRREN coolant in your reservoir?
??? u must be a female right? lol
TIKIMAN198 u just insulted my MANHOOD !!! THIS IS WAR !! SHOW YOURSELF !! where the fuck are u ?? show yourself keyboard warrior!! come out from behind that laptop!! U JUST CALLED ME A FAGGOT!! I CANT TAKE IT ANYMORE!! IM GOING CRAZY !!! AKNDVFDRN !!!!! SDFOVFRIVFRIOVF[OVBEBVE[=RE !!!!!!!!........................THATS RUSSIAN FOR FUCK U BITCH ASS LESBIAN !!!!
TIKIMAN198 THIS is percy mother...............he just committed suicide.............thanks for your fucking help....now HOW DO U FEEL KNOWING U ASISSTED IN HIM KILLLING HIMSELF?? the cops probably will be knocking at your door within 48 hours ..the charge?? cyber bullying,,,,,see you in court bitch...OH MY SON !!! MY SON!!
So you have to reprogram the pcm after this?
the "proper" procedure is yes, however many people don't do it unless there is a problem.
@@GeniusAsian thank you so much :)
good job
Makes our job a bit easier :)
how can i get the honda accord maintenance manual ?
I could be easier to take the battery out since you’ve disconnected the cable already🤙
I only disconnected one cable to reset the computer. If for some reason you disconnect both cables (bot positive and negative cables), then you may remove the battery.
HURRY UP N BUY!!
thank you for taking the time to provide feedback.
Funny video.. was there a TB gasket? seemed like there was pretty much nothing when he took the TB off.
there should be. usually can reuse
Where is the air flow sensor
My car is now 12years old. All of my rubber hose are now as hard as plastic!
yes, changing hoses is pretty easy.
hey, i replaced maf on 2005 accord 2.4 and my idle goes high from start 2500 and raises to 3000, engine runs smooth tho
do you think idle relearn can fix it?
or is it throttle position sensor ?
What was the idle problem eventually ?
I have a follow up video to discuss the final solution: ruclips.net/video/4oj3WeCjs_g/видео.html
replaced the IAC valve bought from O'reilly auto (about $80) and the problem never came back.
How many miles do you have on the car?
I think it was about 120k miles because I had this video ruclips.net/video/8VeuMIYYr50/видео.html about changing transmission fluid at 120k. Since I lost the car in this incident: ruclips.net/video/3xsk-N0deig/видео.html , I no longer have the car.
Use throttle body cleaner it's much better
yeah, the throttle cleaner is a very good one. When you don't have it with you, you may use other methods as shown in the video. Thank you for taking the time to share, your comments will help other viewers.
Just don't use it in superchargers or turbo chargers. You will mess it uo to ware you need to reply sc
Thank you jackie chan !!
Your video gave me a headache. What is all these jumps?
sorry about that. Our earlier effort of editing to cut the length of the video, combined with a high data rate caused this problem. Our recent videos no longer have this problem. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
This guy did not continue the video to see the end result...
Since there are many components on either the fuel or air paths, we have done many videos to investigate the possibilities. ruclips.net/video/ukUprm9jOc8/видео.html ruclips.net/video/4oj3WeCjs_g/видео.html ruclips.net/video/K8VfHkMmeZA/видео.html In the end the car was hit by someone here: ruclips.net/video/3xsk-N0deig/видео.html RIP
Lol why you need to tag cables or hoses?
yes, to do any repair, I have the habit of tagging things. If I don't tag parts then I may have harder time to put them back together later on. The time I used to tag is minimal, overall I save the time for the repair. This is because the difficulty of un-installation and the difficulty of installation is not symmetrical, i.e. installation takes more time than removing parts.
You gon need a scoodriver
@Freeman Chuah
@Freeman Chuah
if the problem keeps coming back and its this hard to work on, why not just sell the car. its only an 04 anyway. i was looking at one for my wife but after seeing this i wont buy it now. thanks.
Gott mit uns.
Not to be rude but there was way too much explanation for this video just get to the point
Why you no use better light for camera
igorhump Lmfao
HAHAHA yours is hard to remove ??? i got a 02 SIR and its reduckclously your is on a nice angle the sir and flat inbetween the throttle body and tranny
Chinese intelligence..
If don't want to go through all that stupid procedure, stop watching this video.
To much bla bla bla. Let's go right to the bottom line man.
