  • GM Vishnu Prasanna is well-known in the chess world as the coach of Gukesh. In 2020, roughly four years ago, he began a training academy in Thiruthangal (near Sivakasi) called the Hatsun Chess Academy. The academy is a residential chess center and is run through the CSR funds of the Hatsun Group. IM Sagar Shah visited this amazing academy for two days and in this video shares his findings with all of you. Suffice it to say that in a few years from now this academy is going to create some of the best champions that the country has seen! Why do we say so? Check out the video to understand why!
    If you want to be part of the Hatsun Chess Academy, you can write to them at chess@hapsports.in

    Note: The academy is aimed at producing chess players with a long term view. They do not accept students in the hostel till they are 12. The young children are players whose parents have relocated form different cities to be a part of the programme.

    Thank you for Visiting the academy sagar @ChessBase India and making this beautiful video and sharing our story here.When Hatsun offered me the opportunity for an academy I went back to my early playing days and created this with the idea of what I did not have access to and what was missing for me when I most needed it and tried to fill those gaps. Thanks to continuous support of Hatsun I was able to achieve this so far and I sincerely believe there will be more stories from Thiruthangal for the chess world !.Thanks for all the encouragement in the comments as well.

    Some brilliant underappreciated work is being done by the Hatsun Academy. Thanks Sagar for covering it. ChessBase India has penetrated quite deep into the Indian chess ecosystem, so much so that in the Academy someone was wearing your merchandise instead of the Academy merchandise. 😂

    Excellent work Sagar. Clearly the vision of everyone from the patron, chess instructors, players and parents is rightly aligned. There is a lot of attention to detail including the emphasis on physical fitness. Seeing the innocent smile of the kids and their commitment to hard work is infectious. My best wishes to everyone who is a part of this initiative.

    Too good...everything...the ideas of Vishnu, the setup/infrastructure, HATSUN! I saw I think 3 videos already on this project...so exciting... Oh God, I wanna grow up once again!! The kids are doing those blindfold puzzles?!! I tried the first one, too tough, I am so impressed!! I have taken a screenshot of them all and will try them all soon! Can a dedicated but grown-up WGM/IM have a one-time camp there? The place looks so calm...perfect environment for chess!!

    WIth such type of excellent institutions providing chess education right from childhood there is no doubt in my mind that India will have both World's men and women's chess champion in the next five to seven years at the same time.

      This is rural tamilnadu. it would be cultural shock for non tamilians. For non Indians there would be adaptation issues like diet. There must be other camps in cities. Some of the coaches like RB Ramesh even does camps outside India.

      @@GowthamKuppurajThanks for the clarification, though it doesn't entirely answer my doubt. Do the children studying chess here attend school or at least write exams to move through the grades? While most of these kids would have the potential to do very well in studies, I still feel it's unfair on others (their own school peers and other competing chess players) if some are pushed through the grades without having to study at all. Merely the fact that a couple of talents bred in such a model have progressed through to the Candidates and one of them is most likely the next world champion doesn't make it any more legitimate than it is in principle. If children want to progress through school grades, they must pass the requirements of that grade, simple...

    • @GowthamKuppuraj
      @GowthamKuppuraj 25 дней назад +1

      @@sachinsamant8246 Yes, they do write exams and go for direct classes in the school whenever possible. Some also catch up with daily homework and online classes, depending on the individual.
