  • Arjun Erigaisi had very little time left on the clock. His opponent was the strong youngster Volodar Murzin. Both of them were down to their last seconds. In such situations, you always want to make forcing moves. Either checks, or captures or attack something. But just look at how Arjun plays under time pressure. Feel the tension. Feel the pressure and you will realize what an amazing player he is! This happened at Round 15 of World Blitz 2022.

19 years old might be the peak of speed chess ability. The players keep getting younger and younger in blitz.

If you look at the top 10 in FIDE-rated blitz the average age is 28.6. For rapid it is 30.8.

Also, if you look at the top 30 in blitz there are currently only two teenagers.

@LordElwe I'm 59 and alot of the blitz tournaments in my area are later at night. By the time they start, I'm tired from doing other things all day. The last blitz tournament i played in I made alot of silly mistakes.

Bro my respect really increased for murzin for his time balancing. Before i thought he was just normal gm. Shouldn't under estimate him.
