Also it bothers me how many weapons you can get in revolver and redemption but you only have like 3 picks from each category of weapon in Redemption 2.
This game got me into the western genre. This and Gun on the PS2 were the two western games of my childhood, then Red Dead Redemption in my early teen years and then Red Dead Redemption 2 recently. I always found it weird that everyone jumped on the bandwagon of RDR2 without playing the two earlier titles and I was there from the very beginning of the series. Some of my friends never even heard of Red Dead Revolver which honestly baffled me

I remember when my uncle was in high school he had a video game membership at Hollywood video so he'd rent brand new games when they first came out and this is where I first played red dead revolver. I remember loving in the game but could never get the showdowns fully figured out and I could never beat the last mission

I'm having an aneurysm watching some of this footage. Beating this game on max difficulty as a kid (including all the optional challenge missions) was hell as a kid. Beating the final boss in under a minute is still the hardest challenge, but is a nice satisfying cap off through mastery of the game.
Red dead revolver's legacy reminds me of gta 1 and 2s legacy, they were popular games when they came out but are forgotten today, very sad because I love red dead revolver and gta 1 and 2
Red Dead Revolver was my first Red Dead. It was nothing special to be honest, but still had a fun time. It wasn't anything close to something like San Andreas at the time. I couldn't have foreseen this arcade shooter becoming the juggernaut that is Red Dead Redemption 2.
Love this game, it's one of those beauties i keep revisiting. I don't think all the levels are hard, but the general Diego one. OH MY GOD THE BRIDGE LEVEL WILL OWN YOU LIKE THERE IS NO TOMORROW, prepare to grind. Headshots feel so satisfying and easy to do un normal encounters. Oh, and melee sucks, just use the bottles in the barfight next time.
I really enjoy your reviews of older games, it brings something to the table that not many youtubers do. However why is this such low quality? If you're capturing from PS4 can't you get native 1080p?
"It's like compressing Red Dead Redemption 2 onto the XBOX 360 using a single HD-DVD disc." You know while the 360 could play HD-DVD movies with a separately purchased add-on, the games themselves were pressed to standard DVD's right? So, with a dual layer, you're talking around 8.5/9gb of storage, which is more in line with how impressive it was to cram the 2-CD Resident Evil 2 onto a cartridge. I mean, if you want to go really crazy, forget the dual layer DVD and use a single layered one for that example. xD Make it bonkers.
I remember me and my cousin always played this but we where like 7 and couldn’t get past the 5th level so the first couple of cutscenes we know by heart I’ve played the tutorial level sooo much
I personally loved the game, although I do agree it was a ridiculously difficult game especially with bosses like Mr. Black who was the bane of my existence, even though I’m definitely happy with the direction rockstar has headed I will definitely miss revolvers style, if I’m being honest the one thing that I would absolutely love in rdr 2 is if they added a LOT more bounties because that is easily one of my favorite things
Thank you for the history ive played this game about half way through a long long time ago but I don't remember it also I love video game history of any kind and j love that you put that in your videos. You need to write books because you know how to keep focus on topics rather than scattered writting and scripting
At least the combat doesn't constantly force you to make headshots to kill enemies, that would've made the game as difficult as Halo 2 on Legendary difficulty
I have Red Dead Revolver, it is sooo hard on some levels. Like one level it's easy and the next is super difficult. I have not finished the game because of that. I am stuck on the level where you go up a street shooting enemies and have a duel at the end. The fighting part aint that hard but the duel is near impossible.
@Gilbert Smith i had to replay it so many times before i knew i had to do that but when i replayed it on mobile i did it 1st try because i knew to do that

@@mazda9624 Red Dead Revolver Capcom version was to be "a cross between Dead to Rights and Devil May Cry but in the wild west", just like how 2002 version of Crimson Skies Xbox going to have interactive movie concept.
This was really enjoyable you really went deep with the research. Awesome video. ☺👍
I remember renting this game from Blockbuster way back when. I had a lot of fun with it, it's a shame not many people know/knew a game came before redemption.
Also it bothers me how many weapons you can get in revolver and redemption but you only have like 3 picks from each category of weapon in Redemption 2.
Excellent video, very well put together.
The hours spent on this game !
Still one of my favorites !
Some of my friends never even heard of Red Dead Revolver which honestly baffled me
Red Dead Revolver: Red Harlow
Red Dead Redemption: John Marston
Red Dead Redemption 2: Arthur Morgan
You mean RDR2:Get pissed off by Dutch simulator lol
NO SHIT
Honestly what was the point of this comment
Uh... yes and...?
JG mah dood you forgot something.... RDR 2 has a PLOT TWIST!!! GO ONE GAME BEHIND, YES HE'S BACK ;)
Feels good to be an OG who played Revolver before the Redemption games.
I appreciate you paying homage to the series with this review.
Red is a multiplayer character on Red Dead Redemption.
Also, look into reviewing Gun, it's a great game!
I love how he says he read the item descriptions and says he still doesn't understand what they're for even though it says in red text 'unlocks showdown character/level' or 'unlocks journal page'. Common man😂
I played red dead revolver when it first came out and I loved the game. Gun however was what red dead redemption drew most inspiration from. Gun was like red dead revolver on steroids. Better story. Good game play. Open world and interesting side missions.
I remember when my uncle was in high school he had a video game membership at Hollywood video so he'd rent brand new games when they first came out and this is where I first played red dead revolver. I remember loving in the game but could never get the showdowns fully figured out and I could never beat the last mission
That's really cool, I wasn't alive when revolver came out so I bought it about a year ago, and I love how arcadey it is, also this is a legion only zone :)
@@gerardwaysway5999 The Capcom version was going to be really, really arcade-y, cross between Panzer Dragoon, Tenchu, Dead to Rights, and Devil May Cry.
Journal pages help with world and plot building. They can be viewed from the main menu. This game is so underrated!
If possible I would love to see you play dead man’s hand or outlaws!
I'm having an aneurysm watching some of this footage. Beating this game on max difficulty as a kid (including all the optional challenge missions) was hell as a kid. Beating the final boss in under a minute is still the hardest challenge, but is a nice satisfying cap off through mastery of the game.
So I know the visuals may look off for some in Red Dead Revolver. But it is still a pretty solid western that I’d highly recommend. Loved that game.
Those things you buy in the general store unlocked characters you can play as in Player vs. Player mode.
8:10 The Journal is in the Main Menu. There it unlocks Pages, like it is said on the Top left.
These strange things you buy either give minor upgrades or unlock a character/place for the Showdown Mode. At least as far as I know lololololol
Excellent video, really enjoyed it dude
6:30 That middle one sure seems....detailed.
Man, that was pretty slick. Game looks cool
Red dead revolver 2: this rootin tootin yeller feller
Red dead revolver's legacy reminds me of gta 1 and 2s legacy, they were popular games when they came out but are forgotten today, very sad because I love red dead revolver and gta 1 and 2
Must had beat this game 100 times when it came out. Thanks for the review the nostalgia is killing me.
This game made me love everything about westerns. I actually still have it i think.
Memories man 🔥
I saw many Red dead revolver commercial here in the u.s. back in 04
Yep
I really enjoy your reviews of older games, it brings something to the table that not many youtubers do. However why is this such low quality? If you're capturing from PS4 can't you get native 1080p?
PS4 captures at 720 at the most... The pro may be better though
@aDg 2k18 yeah you're right... It was still early... Thanks
Amirali J38 never seen pro get 60fps only the one x
This was a great start to the western open world epics that followed.
"It's like compressing Red Dead Redemption 2 onto the XBOX 360 using a single HD-DVD disc."
You know while the 360 could play HD-DVD movies with a separately purchased add-on, the games themselves were pressed to standard DVD's right? So, with a dual layer, you're talking around 8.5/9gb of storage, which is more in line with how impressive it was to cram the 2-CD Resident Evil 2 onto a cartridge. I mean, if you want to go really crazy, forget the dual layer DVD and use a single layered one for that example. xD Make it bonkers.
keep up the good content
I remember me and my cousin always played this but we where like 7 and couldn’t get past the 5th level so the first couple of cutscenes we know by heart I’ve played the tutorial level sooo much
I personally loved the game, although I do agree it was a ridiculously difficult game especially with bosses like Mr. Black who was the bane of my existence, even though I’m definitely happy with the direction rockstar has headed I will definitely miss revolvers style, if I’m being honest the one thing that I would absolutely love in rdr 2 is if they added a LOT more bounties because that is easily one of my favorite things
Loved red dead revolver, played it so much as a kid.
Of the first two red dead games this is the one that we could use a remake of the most
it is my finals week and i just sit here to watch your review's... hope i can be english language teacher :D
Thank you for the history ive played this game about half way through a long long time ago but I don't remember it also I love video game history of any kind and j love that you put that in your videos. You need to write books because you know how to keep focus on topics rather than scattered writting and scripting
red harlow is mentioned in red dead redemption 1 & 2 random strangers mention him and you can play as him in red dead redemption 1's online
I remember playing this game for 15 minutes as a child and never touching up again.
I also had Gun.
At least the combat doesn't constantly force you to make headshots to kill enemies, that would've made the game as difficult as Halo 2 on Legendary difficulty
Hey Colourshed have you played Scarface: The World is Yours?
Didn't think you would get to this game this fast.
Review the Mafia series.
9:05 You can set it to a toggle, so you don't need to HOLD L1 for Aiming all the time.
I had this game as a kid for the xbox. It was amazing
Although I loved Red Dead Revolver I have to say Gun was definitely the better game! I played that over and over I loved it! Lol
Btw, the misc. items unlock new characters to fight in the showdown mode
THANK. YOU. wring side of the tracks, demolition man, and supply lines ARE easy
@Gilbert Smith EXACTLY BRO THEY BE HUGGINF
@Gilbert Smith i had to replay it so many times before i knew i had to do that but when i replayed it on mobile i did it 1st try because i knew to do that
YOOOOO HELL YEA I WAS PLANNING TO BUY THIS GAME PRETTY SOON!
Get it off ps store

At the end of the day either Microsoft, Sony or Nintendo made their money.
Fantastic video mate. Never played this one. I did however played the hell out of Gun.🐎🤠
And every thing you buy is just a collectable
all the items did was open up journal and bonus art, kinda neat
Can't wait for RDR 2 review in 2023
This game was a masterpiece
The showdown against your friends is still fun
red dead revolver was my first western game when i was young and owned a ps2 hehe good game, but the boss battles maaaan were sometimes difficult
I rented this as an 8 year old at blockbuster, really obscure game till red dead redemption came out
For historical value I would definitely recommend the game
When playing this game on my Xbox 360, when fighting the boss "Bad Bessie", if you get too close to her the game freezes, and as i don't have an original Xbox i have never finished the game lol
Robert Bogue, from a gunslinger to a corrupt FBI agent. Who would imagine that.
Thanks Capcom, we believe you made the right choice for us all!
