FUN FACT: There is a bonus campaign where you play as a wooden dummy. You unlock him by beating the game in Hard mode. What makes it different is that this replaces the Deadeye ability of him being on fire... Which is fun, because you could immolate enemies by walking right into them. This breaks the Pig Josh fight too, which is humorous.
I did the pig Josh fight when I was like 7. You just lure him around the house. You can hide behind those walls. All I do is run around the house and crouch and hide. I never had a huge problem with this fight.
This is honestly the first time I've seen footage of the game since I was a kid and god that intro was awesome lol, brought back so many memories. Here's to another one, Fuzzy.
The General Diego mission is definitely the worst mission in the game but I still love it cause it’s pretty much a nod to the bridge scene in The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly.
My dad was born in 64 there wasn’t a chance in hell of him helping me and my brother, my mom could only play ninja gaiden, we sat there and struggled with pig Josh and the Kelly duel for days and weeks
I have waited Rockstar to re-release this game for so long! I used to have so much fun playing multiplayer with my friends, or passing the controller around if you died when playing the story
A excellent profile on a 6th gen Rockstar gem, love your editing & commentary! Bought this game new along with the now rare strategy guide the day it was released. A fantastic game, music & setting but it's tougher than a cheap steak at times due to horrific save game checkpoints!
This game was just one of many great games I played often on the PS2 growing up. Redemption has enough nods to this game even though it isn't supposed to be a sequel and I'm sure almost no one noticed except for the few who played Revolver.
I guess if they ever reboot this its mostly gonna be like the RE2 and RE4 Reboot as in Linear with quality of life improvements and a Graphical upgrade, probably with the framing device that its a tale told by Uncle or John to Jack as Red exists as a sort of legend in Red Dead Redemption already.
This is my favorite red dead. So much personality and the multiplayer was so fun with 4 players wish I could’ve played this online Also I’m not too shocked in this world that a young red isn’t shocked to see death or have caused it General Diego’s special is that he shoots a flare and a few seconds later cannonballs will be fired to that flare He was actually my favorite to play in multiplayer That big flare you see while fighting Darren is definitely a glitch. I replayed played this last year via back compat on xbox and there wasn’t a flare and I also don’t remember that being in the ps2 version either
Loved this game as a kid, and I played it with my dad and sisters too. I realize how many times I’ve played it, watching videos about it, I can quote almost every word 😂
Glad you managed to get this up OK in the end. Was a bit of a bugger, but used to enjoy this game on the good ol' PS2. Good to see a decent play through/review. Cheers, Fuzzy, see you on the next one.👍
Another awesome video, thanks for all of your hard work! Looking forward to the watch dogs installment (was hoping you'd get to those!) and fingers crossed you get to Mafia 2 (best installment in the series) & 3.
My own headcannon is similar to the thoughts people have about Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes theory. Exaggerated reality. The events of Red Dead Revolver is our beloved “useless old man” as some around the camp lovingly put it. Uncle, if his secret identity truly is Red Harlow, maybe he’s spinning yarns around camp telling his exaggerated stories of his youth to little Jack and others around the fire? Maybe Jack, if the writer theory is true for him, maybe he wrote the events of Red Dead Revolver as a semi fictional story in GTA universe? Lol fun to play what ifs 😂 great channel bro!!
Great work on your chn.. really enjoy the trip back in time to my middle school and high school years. Still remember how insane the community was after GTA 3 came out and blew everyones mind! I always remember a few random games that were extremely popular and ALMOST perfect. Here's a few that I could imagine you doing; Max Payne 2, True Crime New York, Gun, and the game that everyone would talk about simply because you played as 1 of 2 cops who busted drug dealers, and then you could "use" any one of the handful or more of narcotics which gave you different types of weird effects in the game: NARC(I somehow feel like I actually enjoyed the game more than the drug novelty.. but maybe not!).
The last few chapters were hard. Going against Kelly, then chasing the governor to mansion. Fighting all soldiers and government agents. The lock pick part was the hardest.
Yeah we always cheezed pig josh by going behind the rock in the outer part of the map, wait till he got to the top near gatling gun, then shoot & hide. It took forever, but trying to fight him any other way was ridiculous
19:40 that is a remnant of the old version when capcom was still involved, that was way more supernatural (In one of the old trailers you can see one of the characters straight-up flying)
Great look back at a great game. I played this beyond death back in the day. Absolutely fantastic, and unfairly forgotten in many ways. By the way, I played this back to back on Xbox and PS2 and I will swear that the Diego Bridge level is way, way harder on the PS2 version, for some reason 😮
I’ve 100%ed the game. Beaten it on all 4 difficulties including Red Wood Revolver, completed Bounty Hunter Mode, gotten all stars on all missions, unlocked everything in Showdown Mode, and played the multiplayer mode with friends. Any questions?
Why would you publicly announce your virginity like that? I kid, that is genuinely impressive. What was the hardest challenge to complete for you? I remember keeping my accuracy high was always a pain
@@sven_bender Siege. Also, unlike other tricky missions like Fort Diego or House of Cards, or most of the Bosses, it isn't easier on Red Wood Revolver. The enemies are strong and spread out instead of weak and clustered together. To actually take out the Coronets you need to hug them for a while which leaves Jack exposed, and if you stay by jack the fire ability is useless.
I like the idea that the red dead revolver story is a folk tale in the rdr universe, don’t remember who but someone tells you the story of red in rdr 2
Dam I fell old, lmao it really been 19 years since this first released. I remember this lik it was yesterday when this game dropped I was in middle school, lol 2004 I was 14 I remember I couldn't wait till this dropped it looked so 🔥 at the time and it was different this literally was the first Western/ cowboy shooter. This was even before Gun came out.. I use to get those game informer magazines in the mail so I knew about ever single title that was dropping.. memories, lol simple times
Played this for the first time about a year ago. I loved rdr when it came out and rdr2 is one of my favorite games of all time. This was an absolute joy to play, it was just as fun having none of the realism as it is having it in rdr2. I hope none of them ever get a remake because they all capture something unique, while it doesnt give the most cohesion to the overall story, it makes each game have its own charm. After recent memory being filled with countless open world games that take 30+ hours to explore, it was refreshing to play a no filler all killer acracde style shooter.
I had a hard time with the Kelly duel, died like 20 times on that section, I don't know why they made that so difficult, anyway can't wait for the Gun review, if you liked this one you'll like that one better.
This game was fun as hell back in the day. I have zero interest in playing redemption due to my own short attention span, but ive been wondering lately how well this game might have aged

I loved playing as these characters when the first Red dead redemption online multiplayer was still active af. One time i had some weird glitch as Pig Josh in free roam where I kept killing this other player and i was taking so many hits on a red screen but not dying, even the other guy was like "wtf is this guy wearing armor or something" and i was imagining the fat and adrenaline saved him like that one mafia but eventually I did die 😂

Can’t wait for watch dogs series
Can u do a retrospective on Max Payne
Someone in a video randomly sneezes

Red dead redemption retrospective soon ?
One of the most under appreciated rockstar games.
Wow I haven't heard the "Hey Dude" theme song in 30 years and it came back to me like it was yesterday
Omg 😂😂😂 me too 80s babies
I always thought that red dead revolver was more of a spaghetti western game than a movie, it's just amazing.
it is a game
Thank you! I've been saying that Revolver is so goofy a lot because it's Rockstar take on a spaghetti western!

Manny Quinn has a name 😔
You unlock it in Showdown mode by being on fire for 6 minutes.
