Omg. I just replaced the plugs and cleaned the throttle body and wow. It runs like it did when I 1st purchased the car. I’m at 155k miles. Original plugs. What a great car.
The video was awesome, well thought out and edited and the narration was spot on. Well done. I used this vid to do mine (2007 vibe, 102k ) Is was simple and straight forward just like shown in the video. CUDOS. It was easier than I thought. If you opted to leave your throttle body on the vehicle remember to always disconnect the battery otherwise you will render your throttle body useless. a new one is up to $ 850
Love, love, love!! You're video was so precise and informative. Thank you so much for taking the time to teach how simple it is to dismantle and clean this very important part of your car to keep it running smoothly. I have a 2007 pontiac vibe that is the same color of the car you were working on. Thanks again. Going to check now to see if you've made anymore videos. I really learned alot from this one! My car runs like it did when I first got it. Fast and great pick up. I
Yes..I enjoy working on my car. I use to be taken advantage of when I was younger. I was fortunate to have a father and brother that were mechanically talented. Learned alot holding the flashlight and being in charge of all the tools.
Use mass airflow spray for the mass airflow sensor. Use throttle body spray for throttle body. Some other videos use brake cleaner but I'm not sure if that's safe to do, especially if you're gonna be spraying it into your engine.
I'm about to clean the throttle body and replace the intake manifold gasket on my 2006 vibe. It only has 40,000 miles but it idles kind of rough and shakes when in gear at a stand still. I think im also going to replace the valve cover gasket/s because I noticed a little bit of oil residue on the motor above the intake. I'm guessing that's seepage from the valve cover? Is there any gaskets that should be replaced for the throttle body. It looks like there's a rubber oring in there on the throttle body in your video. Is that replaceable? Would you recommend replacing it if it is?
It was engine coolant. Specifically of the ethylene glycol variety. This confuses Vibe owners when they see this in videos sometimes because the GM version of this car (of rhe Matrix) comes from the factory with orange Dex-Cool (which is standard in GM cars). The owner of this vibe drained and flushed the cooling system of his Vibe and replaced the coolant with refular Ethylene Glycol Anti-Freeze. You should never mix Dex-Cool with any other coolant aa it gels and throws a code relating to poor coolant flow which can result in engine damage. If you plan to do that project conpletely flush that entire system and be damn sure before refilling it.
Hopefully this is the tric. My vibe was taken to a mechanic. I got it as lower. I think they put a shity computer in. Took mine out. This car use to zip
@@chriscook6185 he's referring the the butterfly metal flap on the throttle body. Sometime there is oil and crude on the bottom. I would think its ok. His video show just that in cleaning that part.
As mentioned, it IS the very engine. The Pontiac Vibe and Toyota Matrix were ‘sister’ cars produced in a joint project between GM and Toyota. They came out of the NUMMI (New United Motor Manufacturing, Inc.) plant in Fremont, CA. The plant opened in 1984 and and I believe it closed around the demise of Pontiac in 2010.
Wow i love how simple maintenance is on this car

Hello Valpro. I don't have experience in mechanic, and Im wondering if I could do this procedure ?
@@anikibrother7691 absolutely. The video is very simple to follow. If you can replace an air filter then you can do this. Good luck.
Cool, and maybe this will improve the fuel! efficiency. Thanks for the reply.
Oh when you said you replaced the plugs, you mean spark plugs ?
@@anikibrother7691 Correct. Mine were still the original after 155k miles. Crazy how long they lasted.

Excellent video. I needed this for my wife's 2009 Pontiac Vibe 👍👍

Allo Danelle. Did you do this yourself ? You have experience ? :)

Wow that was a very well explained video!! Thank you for making this video!!
This video was helpful and well done.
Just in time! My 2003 just turned 90,000 miles 😊
Mention to plug the cooling lines when disconnecting them.
Question: What would you suggest to plug the cooling lines with?

Thank a lot for this. Was exactly what I needed.
thanks its a very helpful video you was very detailed on everything
and cleaning the who thing thanks for this awesome video God bless you
Thank you! Great video!
Can this cleaning improve the mpg efficiency ?
Does the electronic throttle body have a separate idle air control valve as with the older cable controlled unit?
Great video! Only thing I would change is to change gasket and screen. Cheap part.
What is the right type of fluid to clean it with?
Mass airflow spray cleaner
Use mass airflow spray for the mass airflow sensor. Use throttle body spray for throttle body. Some other videos use brake cleaner but I'm not sure if that's safe to do, especially if you're gonna be spraying it into your engine.
Is this the same procedure for my 2007 ponti g6?
will this help reset an engine code?
No
My 2007 225,XXX miles and still runs like new😊
Will this procedure be similar for a 2004 Toyota matrix
yes
Do you drain your coolant when doing this?

@@suddykloober3426 that makes sense thanks. I only use the orange coolant on my vibe tho

How often do you recommend doing this job aside from the noted 100,000 miles.

Are you a professional voice actor for 1970's horror movie trailers?
😂😂
I thought you weren't supposed to move that throttle plate by hand

Anyone know where the tps is located on a vibe with this same throttle body
yepp
Idk what happened but now my brake peddle is stiff as hell and my car is running like shit
Did you let the spray cleaner dry before you turn on the car, did you let it relearn the idle?
Is is safe to touch and turn the plate of an electric throttle body, even though it has been disconnected?

That's because it is.
