Looks really promising, nice structure, and what a steal! I've found mine to be a bit sensitive to heavy root prunning when repotting (maybe I went a bit too far haha), I'd suggest letting it grow unchecked for at least 1 year or so until it starts to grow vigorously, and it should grow well for you.
Thanks! And yeah, I'm in agreement with you. I plan to just leave it alone to grow for a good long while. Maybe readdress in spring, or possibly even the following spring.
Watching this video on November 9th. Did the boxwood survive? Don’t think I’ve ever seen many extreme top and bottom procedures done simultaneously that end well. I can attest to trying, and ended up killing off more than I care to count! I tried, as you did, to experiment on the $5.00 clearance bargain buys to see what works. My only real comment is, I would have given it a bigger pot to recover in. You basically had roots crammed into that teeny pot and a little mix. No where to grow…. I gave my boxwood purchased this summer a good haircut, but left it in the nursery pot outside in a plastic greenhouse tent. Hoping it doesn’t winter kill in our zone 5a. Will repot in spring. Please update your results, good or bad. Hope its all good!
Job well done, what a transformation.. thanks so much
Thank you!
Great bargain!
Diggin the initial setup, Toy. I hope she recovers well over the summer for you.
Thank you! It's been a couple weeks or so and it's still looking good. I've been keeping a close eye on it just in case but no signs of trouble yet.

It bounced back strong! Lots of new growth after this, (somewhat to my surprise too) I may go with a bigger pot in the spring.
reverse taper cause of the parallel branches, bigger pot and all good
its already two months, any update?
Very dramatic change!
I knew there was a bonsai hiding under there!
