- This is the final chinking video. It has taken us 3 months working around the weather to get it all done but it's finally complete. This timelapse shows the progress as we move along to closing in the house getting ready for winter and on to bigger projects.

About Me.
In 2018 I decided to stop working for someone else full time and pursue my dream of building my log home and starting a small farm in the Ozark mountains. It's a dream that I have had and have been working towards for over 20 years, and due to life changes and unexpected events, I decided to make a leap of faith. This journey will not be without its challenges and setbacks, but I will continue to push forward each and every day to make this dream a reality. I try to upload videos 3 days a week but working mostly alone I am always pressed for time.

We are finished with the inside and outside. Other than touching up a corner here or there we are finished with chinking.

Good thing you got that done, one time I saw a mouse jump 25 ft from a tractor tire to the side of a building on top of a old toilet...surprised the heck out of me...like it was Mighty Mouse or something! .......But ya definitely prepare as if this winter is as bad or worse than last year bc that's what is predicted!

Good to see you, hope all the storms bypassed you as it's been a crazy last few months. I remember this job (although ours wasn't like what you're doing) the time consuming job it was but once finished at least we were weather tight..it's looking fantastic and sooner than you think you'll be done and then porch sitting time and enjoying all you've accomplished....stay safe, be careful, take it easy and keep dry and cool/warm. Dude excellent work you need to treat yourself to a new hat and some new duds. I know when I get done working hard on a big major project my clothes are usually trashed so I just skittish out of them take them off throw them in the garbage and then I'll treat myself to some new work clothes that's my treat my reward for completing that big project. You got more backbone than most the people in this country nowadays!!! Good job my friend !!! good job !!!

Your place is looking amazing!! Have you found much shrinkage in your chinking as it dries? I'm sure you've mentioned it before, but what is your ' recipe ' for the chinking? Looking forward to seeing your videos more regularly.
very little shrinking so far. The recipe is 3 parts sand, 1 part portland, 1/2 part hydrated lime.

Chinking looks fantastic. I'm sure it'll be so much more pleasant to work on the interior when you don't have wind whistling through every gap in the logs as well as the door and window openings. Will you get the fireplace done before winter? Or is that a project for next year?
Looks good. A lot of times hiring a professional is paying someone to make it look like an amateur did the work. I know when I build something especially my house I take my time and make sure it’s done right. I know you have been given a lot of flack about some stuff but man you have done a great job.

Are you going to do some sort of skirting around the bottom of the house? Stone around the bottom would look awesome...it would be a very big job but it would look so good keeping the theme of a log cabin...
