In epee you have to be very smart, there are so many situations where you can expose yourself in many ways. If you’re not very smart, don’t do epee (you can but, you have to be smart when to attack)
Gee I thought that if this guy was going to talk about doing epee, he would go over some of the finer tips for good performance. He just explained the rules, c'mon.
This has nothing to do with a real fight - in real life there is no point hitting first if a fraction of a second you get hit back , it is more like gymnastics with whippy sticks . I guess this is what happens when an Art becomes a sport .
Today most people doesn't want to injure, first blood or kill someone. It will be more fun if we can hit each other multiple times. Modern fencing is real fighting, but is not about to injure, first blood or kill someone.
In Epee you only gain advantage if you score a clean hit. A double hit even if one party struck first is a point for both sides so is neutral so you only get ahead of by striking without being struck. It's really the only of the three that isn't over-gamified and sporitifed.
What's more realistic about HEMA? You're still mock-fighting using fake swords with fake blades, they're just patterned after a style of sword that was popular in an earlier time period than those used in fencing.
Not sure what you mean. Doesnt sound like you have even seen HEMA? EVERYTHING is more realistic in HEMA. We aim to make it as realistic as possible. Sport fencing doesn't.
Epee is the best, because the rules are for a great part simple and logic.

Makes you wonder if anyone knows anything more than the rules of the game by now.
Do you even epee

The Ponkster blatantly you didn't pay attention. épée doesn't reward you for hitting first.

The Ponkster Fencing is not fighting or art, it is an invidual sport and should not be confused with fighting with swords
If you want to learn realistic sword fighting, look up HEMA. No weird rules and no car antennas for "swords".
If you like sports try olympic fencing
